Shaking her head in ultimate disbelief as Mckayla quickly hid away the file, Demetria could focus on nothing but the empty space of her desk in which his photo and reports had originally lay⌠It couldnât be true. Her Aiden was not a monster, he wasnât evil and there was no fucking way that he was⌠A murderer. Eyes widened in horror as the rest of her body felt stiff, she finally forced her gaze towards Ayla, absolutely mortified. The only thing that Demi cared about in that moment was if any other patient had entered the room, they would have been able to see the dark and twisted shit that the therapists had been writing about him, the lies that they were creatingâŚ
Throwing herself up from her chair, feeling a mixture of heartbreak and anger, she raised her voice in despair. âThat isnât true⌠It canât be! Aiden didnât⌠He wouldnât⌠Ayla, please just tell me it isnât real and get rid of it.â The lump that was growing in her throat was now forcing its way upward as she wrapped her arms around herself in attempt to comfort herself. âWhy are you even researching into his case? I told you, heâs not a bad person and he would never fucking hurt me! Jay antagonized him!â By now, Demiâs eyes were watery and the bloodshot, jagged veins that stood out from the whites had only grown more. Trembling, on both legs and ready to burst out of the door, she froze. Ayla fucking owed her an explanation for why she was snooping through her boyfriendâs file â she wasnât even his therapist!
Oh this had taken such a wrong turn. Ayla had simply invited Demi to her office so that they could talk, make up, not make matters worse. In fact she believed that Rivers would appreciate how she looked into Evansâ case, just to make sure that he was right for her, that she was in no danger. Ayla Ledger was keeping up the exterior of a caring, friendly girl, but was that the truth? Or was she simply using that as an excuse to prove herself right once again, or even take a small, harmless revenge on behalf of Jay? Little did she know that Demetria would have no idea about a specific something regarding Aiden, and now she had no clue how to explain herself, her motives without sounding like a bitch.
Instantly jumping up in synchronisation with the younger, who was clearly extremely upset, Ayla was at a loss for words. What was it that she had seen? Shaking her head slightly as her jaw dropped, Ledger could tell that the words that were leaving her mouth right now were just a result of her own frustration, which the new information had caused. Nothing on that file was as shocking as the murder, which the boy must had kept a secret from her. It would be a lie to say that Ledger was not kind of shook too when she read it, as there was no other patient currently in Serenity who had commited murder. So how could she blame Demi for being that upset, after just finding out?
âI donât owe you an explanation for that. Every therapist can look into patientsâ files, and I had my reasons. And it seems like I was not wrong either...â Ayla muttered as calmly as possible, not allowing the other brunette to step over her. Taking a step towards her, the therapist crossed her arms over her chest and gritted her teeth together as she frowned, able to detect the pain that was written all over Demiâs face; âYou didnât know...â She concluded, starting to feel guilt crashing over her due to the fact that she had learned in such an unsuitable way. Regardless of how she personally felt about Evans, he should have been the one to open up about his situation when he felt ready, because there was no doubt that Demetria would confront him straight away now. It wasnât like Ayla had told her about it herself, Demi was the one who sneakingly read about his case out of curiosity, but whatever, the results were the same. It was too late to change anything now.
