Why presentation matters!
I would kill for some pizza right now
Even though it was only a short scene in the background, I love that they showed us Bean praying.
As a Muslim this totally surprised me and made me happy. I think I never saw a Muslim praying in an American show without being necessary for the plot.
Tumblr seems to like Robert a lot and I honestly don't get it. I mean sure he's an interesting character, but not a good person.
I saw a list on here about what the characters did, so that Robert doesn't look like the bad one, but it forgot one thing: King Robert thinks that not everyone should have the right to make decisions, because some people are stupid, as he said. He thinks that only one person is capable of leading and he is certain he would be that one person.
This mindset is antidemocratic and against things like freedom of speech. Yeah, I'm sure he and Willow are cute together, but he is still a manipulative dictator. So #fuckkingrobert
So I just had a thought
What if supernatural creatures don’t exist anymore? What if they did once, but through the years, they slowly mixed in with humans?
You can see the blood of fairies in the way a ballet dancer hovers in mid air before he or she hits the ground. You can see it in the way that middle school girl never forgets when someone makes her a promise. You can see it in how that one little boy in the kindergarten class seems more comfortable in the forest on that field trip than the others.
You can see the blood of dryads in hikers who never trip over roots. You can see it in that suburban grandmother never lets any of her garden die. You can see it in that one kid who climbs a tree faster than his friends, barely looking at the branches as he goes.
You can see the blood of naiads in the way a professional swimmer seems to command the water to help them. You can see it in how a cross country runner needs a water break more often than his teammates. You can see it in the way that one girl in your class always has a water bottle on her desk.
You can see the blood of mermaids in a surfer who can be tossed around underwater for a long time without drowning. You can see it in a teenage boy who doesn’t have to pretend to be unbothered by the pressure when he races his friends to the bottom of a swimming pool. You can see it in the little girl who wades into every stream she sees on a hike without quite knowing why.
You can see the blood of sirens in people who never have a problem with getting people to date them. You can see it in that soprano who can hit notes most of her fellows can only dream of. You can see it in the camp counselor who all the straight girls have a crush on, who can play guitar and sing better than any of the others.
You can see the blood of shapeshifters in the way an actor adjusts their personality to become their character with scary accuracy. You can see it in the subconscious, barely noticeable changes a tween girl’s eyes make to match her outfit better. You can see it in the way you always lose that one friend in a crowd if you’re not careful, because he’s just too good at blending in.
People who carry the blood of werewolves don’t change with the full moon anymore, but you can still see it in the way your best friend always knows something is wrong, though even they don’t know they’re smelling the changes in your body chemistry. You can see it in the way that one guy always seems to eat more than the reasonable amount of red meat at an all-you-can-eat buffet. You can see it in the way that one werido never has a problem when the teacher turns off the lights before a PowerPoint presentation because her eyes adjust quicker and better than yours.
The blood of supernatural creatures may have mostly faded away. But if you look closely, you can still see it.
I keep seeing tweets like “okay so america is a dystopian novel now wheres the 16 year old girl to save us” and other condescending shit like that and i just….
where are the girls who are saving us you ask?
oh i don’t know, they are at the Oceti Sakowin camp fighting for the right to clean water and treaty rights. They are protecting their land and water against heavily militarized police forces.
They are and have been at many Black Lives Matter protests. Girls have fought against police brutality in black communities. Women, in fact, are among the top leaders of that movement.
They are the muslim girls who continue to fearlessly wear their hijabs in public despite rampant islamophobia.
And there were plenty of teenage girls at the women’s marches across the country.
So while a single Katniss Everdeen figure has yet to emerge, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t exist. Because young women are protesting every day. They are the Katnisses and the Laia of Serras and the Aelins and the Mare Barrows and the Nehemia Ytgers and the Lihn Cinders that you’ve all read about. These girls exist.
Realize that the fallacy of most dystopians, and many books, is that they often presents a single cohesive narrative of revolt and change. And in our huge, wide world, that is not how change works. But the books themselves are not incorrect in assuming that young women will be the arbiters of change. They are spot fucking on.
reblog or “♡” if you save.
So they don't just meet in every reality, but they are always in the same situation.
Tandy has her family safe and sound and her dreamjob? So does Ty.
Tandy works at Roxxon, because her mother got her the job, but she actually doesn't like it any more? "Same here", Ty would say.
Tandy is a thief and a drug addict. Tyrone is stealing cars.
So literally, they are not just destined to meet and be together, their faiths are connected. One of them can't live a happy life, when the other doesn't.
They are soulmates and I need my babys safe and finally realizing their love for each other.
My favorite part of season two was when Chivo told Ceasar to turn around so he didn’t see the code for the safe and then proceeded to say it out loud
Can we talk about just how refreshing and groundbreaking it was to have three teenaged boys of color on a show, saying I love you to one another, hugging, consoling one another, etc? Despite society deeming such actions between men as “soft”? Despite the fact that they live in the hood and actions like that aren’t “cool”?
Spooky taking Ruby under his wing to provide support with his PTSD? Spooky being the leader of a gang but still not being “too hard” to say I love you to his brother? Showing in little ways that he’s also in pain losing the last of his blood to the ways of the streets?
Can we talk about these beautiful things because season 2 went above and beyond to make sure these things happened often and it’s got me shook.
hello yes does anyone have the extra chapters from the barnes and noble edition of one of us is lying im super desperate
currently re-reading the red queen and I'm falling for Maven again... like how? He is evil. he is evil. he is evil. he is evil and still a fucking cinnamon roll...
Looks like they could kill you, but is actually a cinnamon roll: Nate
Looks like a cinnamon roll, but could actually kill you: Addy
Looks like a cinnamon roll and is actually a cinnamon roll: Cooper
Looks like they could kill you and could actually kill you: Bronwyn
I feel like a lot of people have this image of the other houses in mind, which are completely wrong.
Gryffindor aren't stupid adventure seekers, but not all of them are heroes either. I think the best trait of Gryffindors is not just being brave, it's being brave even when you are scared. Because yes, even Gryffindors get scared, but they ignore their fears for the greater good. They know if they show fear their friends and family will be scared too, so they look with fierce in the eyes at the thing that scares them, so you don't have to. So you can hide behind their back and feel save.
Hufflepuffs are not cute little children, who love pets and only want to eat choclate. They are the real nerds. They do their homework and study for their exams. They are probably they only ones who don't give a sh*t about your heritage. You're pure-blood? Cool. You're half-blood? Cool. You're muggle-born? Cool. Your mother was a slytherin and was abandoned by her family? I'm sorry, but you're still great. Friends and Family are everything for them and yeah they are very lovely, but they can get pretty badass in two seconds if someone is about to hurt their loved ones. So don't underestimate them.
Slytherins are not evil. Oh my god, this stereotype annoys me so much. They are traditional, that's one of their traits, but what is wrong about that? Slytherins have a lot of pride and are really stubborn. But what a lot of people seem to forget is that brotherhood is super important to them. Yes, they can be scary and yes they are fluent in sarcasm, but they would fight the whole world just to save their loved ones.
Ravenclaws are not nerds. Not like you think. They don't care a lot about housepoints and doing all their homework. Why should they write this essay for transfiguration, if there is this super exciting book about dragons they could read instead? They don't like doing things that are not interesting. And they are not cold. They have emotions and they are not "logical". Did you forgot about the other traits except for Intelligence and Wisedom? Creativity, Originality... Ravenclaws are artists. Not roboters. They are the perfect people to go to, if you're sad. They can give you either a shoulder to cry on or they tell about this painting they are working and which colors they are using for. They tell you every detail until you forget you were sad.
This is only my opinion and my experiences. If you think something else, then let me know! I'm super interested.
