FTP AU~Briar Couffaine-Lavillant
I did not think this AU had me in such a chokehold, but here we are! (If my attention span continues to hold onto this, i may make a side blog for Fight the Power)
So to elaborate more on the AU:
This takes place post season 5 where the big secret is leaked to Chat Noir and the Miraculers: Hawkmoth is really Gabriel Agreste and Ladybug lied not only lied to them (which stings as these are her closest friends and boyfriend) but to the whole world. So naturally, the heroes don’t take this well and Ladybug is left scrambling on how to fix it. The Miraculers take a vote and decide that Ladybug will be removed of her leadership position and Alya will take over temporarily, wielding the two miraculous until a more permanent holder can be found.
Marinette didn’t think things could get worse….then the Order of the Guardians found out.
Obviously withholding important information and deceiving the entire world doesn’t look good for a young Guardian. So Su-Han strips her title as Guardian and her memories are taken along with them. Adrien breaks up with Marinette because he can’t take another person lying to him, leaving a confused Marinette to wonder what the heck happened to all of her friends and boyfriend.
Meanwhile, the Miraculers aren’t work together as well as they used to (yes, Rena Rouge/Scarabella is good, but there are now seeds of mistrust and doubt that Ladybug left behind.) They are also working more closely with Su-Han who is much more stricter and harder on them as a Guardian.
Chrysalis is eventually defeated…but it wasn’t without several deaths. Afterwards, many of the heroes retired and gave up their miraculous jewels.
Cut to several decades later, the Neo-Miraculers show up, akumas begin to reappear, a pair of earrings are lost, and a new act begins…
Briar Anarka Couffaine-Lavillant
Daughter of Juleka and Rose.
Her middle name is after her grandmother Anarka…Jagged gave his ex girlfriend a 100 bucks when they first heard it.
Rose actually passed away during the final battle, Juleka quit Kitty Section in order to raise their daughter and give her a normal life. Briar never met Rose, but hears plenty stories about her…though Juleka hasn’t talked much about her death.
For the child of two soft and quiet people, Briar is extremely loud. An impulsive, stubborn, and an expressive girl who wholeheartedly believes in freedom, justice, and the right to play rock music as loud as one can.
Is spoiled constantly by Jagged (‘no, dad, Bri doesn’t need a golden encrusted phone case.’ ‘You’re right…She needs the diamond one!’ ‘NO!’)
While she loves rock music, it does not love her. Briar is a horrible musician. She’s extremely frustrated by this, the one skill she wanted to inherit and she got none of it.
Even though she’s the granddaughter to the Jagged Stone, and the child to two famous ex members of Kitty Section, Briar doesn’t fit into the same mold the other prestigious elite kids at Dupont do. She does not care and wouldn’t want to hang out with them anyway, because they are all snobs.
Is Fang’s favorite human, and he is her favorite crocodile (the family once caught her trying to sneak and hide Fang into her room as a kid so he’d stay longer)
Due to her…aggressive personality, she can come off a bit too strong. She doesn’t have a lot of friends because of this.
Has a better relationship with Grandpa Stone than her mom and uncle did (yes, they still bring it up. And yes, Jagged feels guilty every single time).
Like every good Couffaine, she knows how to speak fluent pirate.

Found the Ladybug Miraculous after the Neo-Miraculer holder lost it. When Tikki appeared, the kwami broke down and told her everything that had happened to her and rest of the kwamis. They had been stolen by the Kingdom and were forcefully bonded to stay by their holder’s side with magic. This meant they couldn’t fly off or tell anyone where they were, and their holders treated them more like pets they didn’t want than the living beings. It did not take much to convince Briar to help Tikki free the rest of the kwamis from the Neo-Miraculers and the Kingdom (#freekwamis)
The media calls her many things; Brute Bug, the Red Scourge, Phonybug, but she prefers Rebel Red.
As Rebel Red, her personality is maxed up to eleven. She’ll put unlawful in unlawful vigilante. Got some pig officers grilling you down? She’ll flatten their tires. The new corrupt mayor puts up flyers for reelection? She’ll spray paint them all in red across Paris. The Neo-Miraculers staring in an interview? She’ll crash it and steal all the attention away from them.
Pushing aside the blatant disregard for any authority, Rebel is a good hero. She always protects the weak, defends the innocent, and will put her life on the line to save the day.
That being said, Rebel can and will use the Lucky Charm as a bludgeoning weapon when the opportunity presents itself.
