@cubpaws recently posted one of the cutest sonadow pieces I’ve seen, utilizing the cutest Sonic design ever, so I redrew the last panel to show my adoration.

Ark crashes into earth and dooms all, Sonic lives and has to go into the core reactor of the ark with a (technically dead) Shadow to have a shot at saving it. This essentially resets them, Sonic, Shadow, and Maria are the only ones who remember.
Maria is Frisk/Chara in this au. You don’t know anything shes thinking except when you look in mirrors, so you would play the game flying blind but with an mc that canonically knows everything already. Should you choose to kill people at all, you wind up needing to kill Sonic in the end.
Sonic is Sans, a self proclaimed retired hero who runs a chili dog stand whilst secretly filling the role as judge. His quills are faded and he wears his favorite outfit from the OVA.
Shadow is Asriel/Flowey. He looks like a spider lilly in his flower form, one with petals and stamen that form his game logo.
The rest of the immediate cast (teams sonic, dark, and rose) are there as well. Knuckles is Grillby, he runs a saloon called Knuckles’ and he doesn’t speak because his memory loss impairs him that much.
Amy is Undyne, I haven’t finished the sketch but she’s there. Her memory loss doesn’t impair her quite so bad so it allows her to run the royal guard.

Overview
In this au, Shadow gets to see Maria’s life end peacefully. She still succumbs to her illness, but she does so in the safety and comfort of her support system, does so on earth, and it is a peaceful (even if incredibly heartbreaking) time for Shadow. They bury her in the yard of the house Shadow inherits after Gerald dies.
Shadow has been around and conscious since his creation date, which means he is like, 80? In this au? I’ve still gotta get the numbers but he’s been around a while. It has given him enough time to find a little corner of earth to lay low in- namely, a chao kindergarten.
Some rapid fire notes!
Shadow is he/him nonbinary and identifies as a homosexual, demispec person.
GUN knows he exists yet can’t find him.
He hasn’t met Sonic yet but will (Sonic is aro/ace in this au so no sonadow sorry) and they clash incredibly at first. It’s when he meets Rouge, Sonic’s self appointed wing gal, that he softens to Sonic.
This au has me shipping Shadow with the owner of the kindergarten and my own oc Ducky, because I need some self care, but also because shipping is not the point of this au. It is more so to explore the character of a healthy, happy Shadow. So this will probably focus more on Shadows meeting and interacting with the main cast.
With Sonic comes GUN and shenanigans will ensue.
Appearance data
His regular attire in the AU consists of a red sweater, yellow overalls, and two sets of earrings. His quills are long and curly, and he doesn’t bother straightening them into their normal spikes anymore. He explores his effeminate self mainly through makeup, particularly eyeshadow that is darker than his fur and eyeliner with mascara. He doesn’t require glasses yet still wears them as he feels pretty in them. He still has the white chest fluff, but his sclera became yellow over time, and he continues to see certain changes to be closer in appearance to his sperm donor. (Yes Black Doom)
