listen listen listen listen i love catws sooooo much i have watched it so many times but yknow if i could change the reveal on how Steve finds out the winter soldier is Bucky, i'd kind of ditch the slow turn around bcs it doesn't really fit the whole speed at which they were fighting about. I'd have Steve throw Bucky, the mask slips off, but they're fighting too fast, moving too fast and Steve jumps again, pins the winter soldier to the ground, we've got a hand around the neck, Steve raises to pummel a fist and then he just freezes

and it's barely a second because it goes in slow motion but we get the winter soldier's teeth grit, he's reaching up to throw Steve off because in that one second, Steve was caught off guard and its just. time paused. time has stopped. Steve has been living at breakneck speed since he got out of the ice and now is when it feels like everything just screeched to a halt and sent him out the windshield. staring straight into a color he didn't think he'd see again, his hands around Bucky's throat, and Bucky's teeth bared and snarling at him but just as the soldier's hands reach up to throw Steve off, he lets loose that one word.

"... Bucky?"

and then the soldier freezes. he stops. it wasn't his voice, his face, it wasn't anything that made him stop, it was the name. a name. his name. One he hadn't heard in years. something he didn't think he'd hear again, something he forgot. But he didn't. Oh, he didn't. he didn't forget.

and that scares him. remembering means pain, remembering means they strap him down again, remembering means what he is now isn't what he's supposed to be. remembering means what he's doing is wrong.

so he throws Steve anyways. Natasha launches the grenade. and the soldier disappears again.

steve shouldve had one of those visual diaries people keep where he's like (perfect 1940s penmanship) today i went to a new breakfast spot with sam here is a sketch of the bagel i got :) then we fought hydra here is a lovingly rendered iron man suit mid-flight with the new little ailerons tony added. then we had dinner here is a pen & watercolour sketch of nat laughing with her mouth full :)

the wisdom ive learnt is that becoming part of a friend group 1) takes a long time and 2) involves a lot of feeling awkward and left out at first. there’s nothing terrible about this but if you grew up chronically lonely or have any kind of trauma relating to social isolation this likely feels Really Wrong and activates danger signals. but both fortunately and unfortunately it’s just how becoming close to new people works most of the time

another thing that was not intuitive to me as someone who grew up an autistic loner: basically everyone on the planet is starved for connection all the time and almost everything people do is an attempt to reach out to another. most seemingly illogical interactions and behaviours can be explained by this. you have to take as many of these invitations as you can. even if you're wrong you still attempted to bring more warmth into the world

you guys really need to stop saying that people don't contribute to a fandom unless they're making fanart or writing fanfics or doing something creative where the final output is "content".

i've seen enough posts parroting this sentiment that makes me believe it's not just one person's dumb take, but a growing belief and that boggles my mind.

commenting, engaging, encouraging, and yes, even geeking out about your favorite artist or your favorite fic IS contributing to a fandom. it is vital to the general fandom ecosystem, the way creating and sharing fanworks is!
