What do you guys use Poipoles and Naganadels for, aside from protection and companionship? It seems as if they're common and liked for their charming temperaments, but having a mischievous poison-spewing sprite/wasp-dragon around seems like it can cause a few problems if they're not well socialised. Can their poison be used for industrial use? Speaking of poison, with the problem of Nihilego around, have you Ultra Megalopians evolved to be naturally more resistant to the toxins of your UBs?
“Commonly, they’re pets,” Dulse answers. “Though many Ultra Beasts are suitable for living at home or performing menial tasks, Poipole are some of the easiest to work with. They are well known for being good with children, assuming they can mind their stingers around them.”
The Poipole that Dulse has bobs around his head curiously, occasionally stopping to tug at locks of hair that happen to be sticking out from his helmet.
“The venom that Poipole excretes isn’t life threatening to Megalopians–it may cause a bit of dizziness or sweating, but it certainly cannot kill you. Though indeed mischievous, Poipole do seem to feel guilt when they harm those they are attached to so issues like those are not often a problem here. I’m unsure if it’s the same for humans of Earth…”
He stops for a few minutes to consider it. They have been living under very different situations, and with much different creatures. It’s possible that human biology isn’t quite so resistant…
“…Ah. I digress.”
He clears his throat. Poipole squeaks cheerily.
“Naganadel is almost exclusively seen in construction work here. The adhesive it creates is heat, cold, and weather resistant, which makes it excellent material for building new homes and such. Unlike Poipole, Naganadel’s toxin is quite dangerous if stung or otherwise ingested, which is why they’re seldom seen without a skilled handler or partner.”
And Nihilego…
Nihilego……..
“Nihilego are rare here. The URS will not often venture into the Ultra Deep Sea,” he says. “Humans and Megalopians share the issue that Nihilego toxin is rather deadly to our central nervous systems and brain functionality. There was a project a few years back where scientists harvested and tried to distill Nihilego venom for medicinal purposes…ah…it…did not go so well.”
Though it’s seldom seen these days with fewer trips to the Ultra Deep Sea being made, on occasion the toxin turns up during parties and events as a recreational drug…it’s generally frowned upon, and Dulse keeps his mouth shut about it.
This planet shouldn’t get any ideas.
[dulse has the emotional range of a stakataka most days and it’s hard to break him out of it, but if you ever want to see him become really angry or upset, the best way to do it is to mess with zossie]
For your consideration

Sneak peak at some official artwork for the Ultra Beast they’re going to be selling on the Pokemon Center site!
Which one's more comfortable to ride, Solgaleo or Lunala? It seems your partner prefers the latter.
“I personally prefer Solgaleo, as it’s easier to maintain a firm hold of.”
If honest...neither is particularly comfortable without a proper riding harness, and even with the harness it’s not exactly cozy travels. It was certainly a lot of aches and pains when they were first starting out. But with Solgaleo he at least feels less like he’s going to slide right off.
“Zossie, I think, finds it easier to ride Lunala as it’s more suitable for a smaller rider. But if given the chance, I think she would ride any Pokemon through a wormhole happily.”
Is that frown on your face just your natural resting face or are you trying to intimidate everyone into complying with you? (because I sure am intimidated. you look like a bodyguard who'd beat anyone up the second they looked at you wrong)
“...”
He looks at the anon with confusion and then touches his face. Does he really look that scary?
“I will admit that my purpose in this mission is largely to keep Zossie, the team’s scientist, safe from harm,” he says. “But I have no intentions of ‘beating anyone up’ unless my hand is forced. Compliance with general respect among people is all that I ask.”
im crying in the club right now
Jovian clouds in striking shades of blue in this new view taken by NASA’s Juno spacecraft.
Jupiter can be both beautiful and unsettling. I like pushing the color a little to bring out the depth.
There’s something very baroque about it.
This is a random headcanon but: while Dulse finally has standard/English down as a spoken language, he’s much less proficient in writing it and still kind of struggles when doing reading/writing activities. If he’s ever reading something, assume it’s in Megalopian.
