The Dark Emperor wasn’t in the mood to play along, but kept his somewhat more pleasant demeanor. “Come now, it won’t hurt to just tell your… Alternate uncle just how you got your magic? You’re human… And you have blue hair, that’s unusual…”

Talon glanced around, growling. “I know I saw one earlier… I think there was one in the deeper section of the water, and there was a door somewhere around the place I put you after your fall.”

He sighed and looked up at the way they came in. They couldn’t go back up the pitfall in the ceiling; Talon had to keep a grip on his dark magic so it wouldn’t lash out of control in the magic-rich cave, so he couldn’t use the flames to jet he and his niece out of there.

“I’d go with the door on the ledge there, first.” He said, already wading through the water towards it. He silently hoped there wasn’t any flesh-eating bacteria or other unknown pathogens in there that would delay them. “Let’s get going.”

“How do you know I have blue hair?” Fletcher giggled. In danger, Fletcher still found humorous comments to say. Yet, what else to be expected of Fletcher? Every time he too something seriously was considered a miracle. His afterlife would probably be filled with puns and jokes involving his death that only he will find funny.

“Let’s” Viper said under her breath and jumped in the flooded part of the lab. She was eager to give Dark Emperor what he deserves. No one messes with the Williams twins and lives to tell about it! Or Williams in general. The family history is a real proof of that. Must be something in water that makes them that way...

As a majestic dolphin, Viper swam through the door underwater and back at the surface level of the ruin. There were currently more doors available, including some holes leading to the caves of sort. “Where to now, Uncle?” She asked, but received no response “Uncle?”

Wait... Uncle Talon doesn’t know how to swim! The heroine sighed and dived back in the water to look for her, probably drowning, uncle.

Talon growled. “That fucker…”

Nobody fucks with the family and lives to get away with it. He peered through the darkness to see if he could spot another way out than the way they came in. His dark magic was still going haywire from the planet’s ambient resources, so using his other elements was out of the question.

“That son of a bitch is mincemeat…”

“Pardon my… Precautions.” The Dark Emperor sneered, his enchantments holding strong against what resistance Fletcher was able to put up, but his mouth was free to speak… Barring spellwork, of course.

“Considering how our last meeting went, I know you probably don’t see this twisted form in a positive light…” He held out his arms, as if he were going to take a bow. The whole ‘bowing’ thing didn’t suit him, though, so he didn’t. “Let’s just say this was necessary and get to why I brought you here… Let’s talk magic, shall we?”

“Well I’d appreciate a little date first...” Fletcher replied “Maybe a dinner and a movie. Some flowers for the ambient. And for music... maybe something classical” He couldn’t help it but at least smirk. This seemed like a perfect time to be humorous. Then again, it’s Fletcher. He’s always like this “So, when do we leave?”

“Let’s just go find Fletcher and save him! He could die waiting for us!” Viper was getting a little worried. Her brother was in a risk of dying, if not dead already. She prayed it wasn’t the latter. Or she would if she relied on God more.

Viper checked all over her body for the weapons. Good News, she still has them. Sadly not all. Just a handgun and a knife. It felt like some kind of a video game intro. “Where’s the exit, uncle? We gotta get going”

Talon wasted no time in responding. It was evident in the text with zero punctuation that was likely made with speech-to-text.

[SMS]: Fletcher where are you I’m on my way

[SMS]: I’m bleeding out Fletch could barely contain his laughter in. [SMS]: I tried to run, but I’m stuck

A sudden flash of dark magic appeared near where Talon sensed Fletch’s magical signature, the demon uncle looking around frantically with worry, fear, and the very definition of wrath on his face. “Fletch!?”

Talon did not know that his safe spot was inside the vents. He let out the small giggles [SMS]: APRIL FOOLS [SMS]: Now serious talk, I pranked Viper and she wants to beat me up

A few seconds passed without any text messages or any sounds from the room Talon had appeared in, which happened to be one under said vents.

A full minute passed. A short, choked, high-pitched screech sounded before Talon hit the floor. Several possibilities with this: He was so relieved that he fainted, he was trying to get Fletch back for April Fools day, or he had a heart attack. There were other ones, too, like Viper choking him out so use him for Fletcher bait, but it wasn’t a surefire thing.

"Fuck..." It would seem Tal has overreacted over a small prank again. This was yet another terrible idea from Fletch. [SMS]: I guess I'm coming out Fletch started crawling his way out of the vents as quiet as possible. That meant really slowly. He didn't want to make too much noise.
