Maven poem as a "song" he wrote
Man of My Word By Maven Calore I’m a man of my word When I want to be A man of my word If it suits my needs A man who spins lies And never lets them bleed Ever-present in the guise Of all he must believe I lay my terms in ink And sketch the price in blood The paper growing thin The pen worn to the nub A hand reached between the bars Always burning with the ache That it might never see the stars Shining bright above his gaze I’m a man of my word When I want to be A man of my word If it lets me scheme A man who spins lies In ever-constant glee No matter how in vain In the end, it all seems I watch you leave and clutch you tight Clench my fists, knuckles white Burning deep as I deny My good sense fading into time I didn’t beg I didn’t burn I will, will not ever yearn For what I could not ever grasp And was best left burning on the ash I’m a man of my word When I want to be A man of my word If it’s what they believe A man who spins lies No matter what they see Casting doubt on even those Who think they might be free @nortaeventcouncil
