one of nikolas' first memories of gareth after the adoption was: when he woke up to hearing a loud click clack and then wooooah there. he peeked outside into the hall to see his grandfather clad in armor with a wooden horse between his legs racing the halls. him and james exchanged looks while rita giggled, while the nanny urged them back to bed. that was the first week. when he says he has stories. he means it.

One  thing  Nikolas  learned  while  at  Auradon  Prep:  not  everyone  was  genuine.  Too  many  wanted  to  be  friends  with  a  prince.  Most  did  not  care  what  laid  inside.  It  was  why  he  started  to  hang  around  Evie  and  her  crew  more.  They  were  the  real  deal.  And  Evie  saw  who  he  really  was.  Being  accepted  made  him  feel  warm  and  fuzzy  inside.  Something  he  wasn't  too  familiar  with  outside  his  family's  affection.  "Are  you  kidding  me?  She  loves  anything  fashion  related.  I  promise  you,  she'll  be  your  number  one  client.  Well,  except  for  me."

Nikolas  spent  most  of  his  morning  drowning  in  emails.  Damned  lawyers.  No  wonder  his  grandfather  felt  overwhelmed.  Well,  until  the  afternoon  crept  around,  and  then  he  absolutely  needed  a  break.  Curled  up  on  his  couch  in  the  sitting  room  connected  to  his  bedroom,  he  turned  one  page  after  another.  This  was  his  personal  heaven.  No  one  to  bother  him.  No  bloody  emails  to  fret  over.  Just  him  and  his  book  with  Gimsy  curled  up  against  his  legs.  He  heard  her  purring  loudly  as  he  petted  her  softly. That  was  until  he  felt  something  round  but  hard  poking  his  shoulder.  Looking  over,  he  glimpsed  his  twin  standing  there  grinning  ear  to  ear.  Like  a  fucking  Cheshire  cat.  Fucking  hell,  there  goes  his  peace.  Two  seconds  later,  the  idiot  was  running.  Oh,  you  dimwit.  Nikolas  put  his  book  down  and  jumped  over  his  couch  as  he  ran  out  of  the  room.  His  feet  slid  on  the  wooden  floorboards  chasing  him.  "You're  dead,  Henry!"

Nikolas  froze  and  threw  his  head  back  while  closing  his  eyes.  His  dumb  ass  of  a  father  had  to  give  him  the  most  prehistoric,  ungodly  name  in  all  history.  No  one  called  him  by  it  because  if  they  did,  they  would  likely  piss  him  off.  And  a  pissed-off  Pendragon  was  worse  than  dealing  with  the  bloody  Auradon  king.  If  it  was  Chad...  gods  help  him. Whipping  around,  his  eyes  turned  gold  in  warning.  "What  is  it...  Mal?"  he  said  through  his  teeth.
