Not sure why it's a new trend among fic readers to assume if the fic has not been posted within the week it's inappropriate to comment on it, like the fic has to be hot out of the oven to give feedback for.

I got a comment on a fic that is less than a year old and it was mostly an apology for being a comment on an "old fic" and how late they were in commenting.

Just comment on the fic. Doesn't matter how old it is.

I think my girl Samantha Carter deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Ellen Ripley and Sarah Connor.

Major/Lieutenant Colonel Sam being the brains WITH brawn (and a crack shot to boot) of SG-1, saving our Galaxy a dozen times over while getting the respect she deserves from her peers. Doesn't let something like a little crush on her Commanding Officer slow her down. Literally her ONLY drawback is the occasional bout of poor writing.

Goes through hell over and over without hesitation and always manages to pull her team out of the fire, kicking many asses along the way.

Truly one of the Sci-Fi Women of all time.

the infantilsation of seven is representative of the infantilisation that abuse survivors face irl. she was a grown woman when disconnected from the collective and she is an adult when she is navigating being free from the control that shes been under her entire life and gets to explore her own identity and humanity for the first time. AN ADULT. genuinly miss me with that "janeways daughter" crap. its obviously a reading thats entirely based in dismissing a potential romantic relationship between them. but the fact people act like seven is essentially the same as a child to do so is really beginning to piss me off. Sevens story cannot be removed from the lens of her essentially being an adult abuse survivor who has been abused since childhood. its important that she is an adult and treated and respected as such and that she also never got to have normal development as a child. this actually true of many adults living in the real world and you dont get to treat them as children either.

Just wanted to bring to your attention that the term whump was actually coined by the Stargate fandom specifically to describe making this guy suffer. He is the original Mr. Whump (no that's not his actual name). That's how torturable this guy is.

Everyone say mean things about him.

Here is a non exhaustive list of what he goes through in canon btw:

His parents get crushed to death right in front of him when he is a kid

He is forced to relive the memory of his parents death countless times

He dies and gets resurrected

His wife gets possessed

He fails to save her and she dies in his arms

He dies and gets resurrected again

He gets infected by a virus that makes him act crazy and gets put in an insane asylum

He is exposed to a lethal dose of radiation
