the dead of night had always been, ironically, one of taehyungâs preferred scenarios to take a breather. when finished the little job at hand, that is, if he was lucky enough to actually have a job to finish in the first place, his path would lead him without fault to a certain maze of alleys he knew like the palm of his hand, home to a handful of homeless kids and, more often than not, hideout of undesirable individuals one wouldnât want to deal with at such late hour.Â
his pockets were painfully empty that night, which meant no meal and most definitely, no glamour either. he was running out of supplies, and the thought wasnât exactly comforting. if he had to resort to thievery to get himself a new dose, he would without batting an eye, hence why he was watching out for clueless pedestrians to cooperate, unwillingly so, that was for certain. that was, until he caught sight of a lonely, female figure at the other side of the street. if it werenât, though, for the shady bunch following her at a moderate distance, she probably wouldnât have caught his eye. then again, if there was something taehyung was known for, it sure wasnât his selflesness; and still, his body moved on its own, crossing the streets at quite a fast pace, yet assuring no one noticed him, features concealed with a hoodie and hands deep in his pockets.
in an attempt to keep the men at bay from said stranger, he soon wrapped an arm around her shoulders; bad idea, as he found himself with a fist on his face and an unexpectedly sharp pain on his jaw within a fraction of a second. damn, girl sure could throw a punch. âwhâwhat the hell?!â dropping his arm almost instantly and bringing his hand to his jaw, taehyung gave her a look of accusation, eyebrows knitted together before muttering, with an uninviting growl, âfeisty littleâ aah shit, whatever. if i were you iâd avoid these streets, just sayinâ.â and with that, he flipped his thumb toward the masked men, who were now standing, motionless and silent, in the middle of the sidewalk with a defying attitude, several meters away from them. as much as he enjoyed a fight every now and then, theyâd be easily outnumbered if they dared raising a single fist. âletâs just get outta here.â
