I’m 5’6” and people assume I would prefer to be with a really tall and lean dude. But, honestly I’m good as long as they’re at least 5’8”. I hate heels and will never wear them, so that’s not an issue. I also don’t mind if they’re a bit stocky. My attraction is more based on the face and personality anyway lol

Damn I’m back to my hometown for break and most of the people I’ve met with have been so late to our meetups. Like after being 30 minutes late they’ll text me that they’re running late, and then arrive 30 minutes later. So, I end up waiting around 50 minutes!! They don’t even apologize for my wasted time. I could’ve been writing! I mean, at least text me BEFORE the actual meetup time that you’ll be late. Ugh.

Ok so I’m a speech-language pathologist and work with individuals with disabilities. I was aware of ableism on the surface level, but really got a chance to dive into it through an Ableism presentation I gave last week and a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion conference I went to today that focused on disability. I am so much more aware of ableism now that I’ve gotten a chance to interact with the literature and have discussions on it! I’ve never been more empowered to minimize marginalization. I hope learning about these topics will be a continual lifelong learning process. First step: being more conscious about my vocabulary.

Wow I just realized that I really have no life outside of my PhD program. The most I’ll do is go to the free uni movies by myself, or go grocery shopping. I also watch tv. I’m currently slowly distancing myself from the white PhD students in my department. They’re nice, but being near them makes me feel sad that I’m the only Indian girl around. It’s very depressing, and reminds me that I have no Indian ABCD friends ☹️

I’ve been blessed lately in my career. My poster presentation unexpectedly won 2nd place at a research conference last weekend! Also, I found out that my paper was accepted for a technical session at conference this April! I was totally just expecting a poster. I feel so grateful right now.

I’m teaching my first class this semester and I’m taking two classes that will be focused on social justice in some way. I’m excited, but I don’t look forward to how emotionally draining the classes may be. They’ll probably amplify the feelings of resentment I have right now being surrounded by tons of goras and no desis lol
