so like, "trans men are men" and "trans men are not viewed as men on a societal level in sex-essentialist patriarchies and thus cannot hold privilege over cis women the same way cis men do" aren't contradictory statements. acknowledging the role I occupy in a transphobic society is not agreeing with that categorization, it's just living in reality. we may be able to access something akin to male privilege in explicitly affirming spaces or when we're able to pass as a cis men, but the moment we step outside of those spaces or get outed, that "privilege" evaporates and the vacuum it leaves actually puts us in serious danger; it's not your privilege if you have to lie (even if only by omission) to gain access to it.

the thing about being "good with kids" is all it takes is literally just not trying to control and mould them with every interaction. it's just being a normal person and engaging with them through normal interactions like having conversations and playing games. it's just being genuine and friendly and not perceiving them as lumps of wet clay you are there to shape. And what if rap WAS only about sex, violence, and drugs... what then? Would you be justified in looking down upon it as not being "real" art? What would your justification be? Sex is immoral and taboo? Drugs should never be mentioned outside of D.A.R.E programs? Songs about violence turn children to it? Would you turn that standard to other genres as well? You should be able to work together to solve unexpected problems like fixing a flat tire or getting lost in an unfamiliar station

You should feel comfortable and safe enough around this person that you can sit in comfortable silence

You should be able to keep each other interested and deal with each others boredom in a healthy way

If you’re gonna form a long term partnership with someone you should probably be able to tolerate each other while locked in a small box for a few hours
