10 Reasons Why I Shouldn’t Fall in Love
1) He’d probably refuse to partake in a nightly porch light reading of all my favorite poets
2) I’ve yet to find someone that will hop in the passenger seat without hesitation, trusting my destination
3) I’d have to re teach my cravings, my desire, the things that ignite the blood running through my veins
4) Nobody has the time to understand why I curse my mothers name or why ten un answered calls have me gasping into a paper bag
5) My energy is for my daughters, just for them, right? How intimidating it must be to watch my eyes light up when he remembers their favorite snack
6) Eventually my nose scrunch would be revealed, my freckles would expose themselves in the summer sun, my eyes would phase between grey and blue never showcasing permanence
7) I’d have to keep making these lists
7) I’d have to keep writing metaphors for all of the beautiful marks on his skin, on his chest, in his eyes, in his heart
8) I don’t think he’d appreciate my ketchup only orders, my iced tea with no ice, because YES it consumes half of the delicacy placed in that cup
9) He won’t find the humour and love for life that I do when I stumble down a street at 3am on a Saturday night, not quite ready for bed, wanting to hear his voice, make him laugh, & talk about the ends of the universe
9) Talk about what our future holds
10) I’d have to admit to feeling something out of the ordinary, I’d have to admit to the potential of failure while having an overwhelming sense of certainty. I’d have to admit to wanting it, all of it; with you.
