now we’re the kids from yesterday (a domiel fic)

I never thought I would be here, writing fanfiction about real people, athletes even, based on an actual competition I watched on a streaming service I pay real money for. Yet here we are. Part of me wants to apologize for terminology I got wrong, the setting being off or the whole thing being OOC, but then again I want to believe that if someone reads this they’ll be able to forgive these things. Of course, it’s nothing but a whole lot of projection. I just wanted a self-indulgent story with lyrics for a title :)

Too low. Too little power. With no front wind to lean on, the hill came closer fast, the green line indicating the length necessary to go into the lead way out of his reach. Domen knew there were conditions when even a perfect position in the air was not enough to carry him all the way down the hill, but knowledge was one thing and improvement another. As he slid into the outrun, he tried to contain his frustration, trying to remind himself that even two steps forward, one step back, was progress. He was getting there, slowly, surely. Hopefully.
