Maybe she was unreadable because
she didn’t want to be r e a d.
Eloise sad as far back on the bed as she physically could, playing with the hem of her hospital dress. Penelope & herself had been in a car wreck, or at least that’s what the nurses had been telling her. The blonde understood exactly what happened, & remembered everything, but the nurses wouldn’t let her be. Maybe it was because she wasn’t speaking to anyone, or maybe it was because she was only watching depressing movies on TV. Either way, she was starving & in need of comfort food. Maybe some mac & cheese? Maybe mac & cheese & french fries? The blonde wasn’t too sure. Leaning over to pick up her menu, the blonde caught eyes with one of the nurses. Offering up a kind smile, Eloise called the nurse over & asked her if what she wanted would be okay. After getting the seal of approval, the blonde curled up the best that she could. Between the broken leg, stitches on her forehead & arms, scattered bruises, & migraine that made her want to scream, the only distraction that she had was sad movies. If she didn’t watch, all she was going to think about was Penelope & how she wasn’t awake yet, & how Stefan had broken her heart into a million tiny pieces.
Flipping through her channels, Ellie let her eyes drift to the door. A familiar face was there, one she wasn’t truly expecting to see. Unsure of what to say, she just offered up her best smile. “I uh- hi there.”

He forgot she used to do that, open her mouth and let forth an avalanche of words that somehow slid themselves into sentence form. She spoke as she was thinking, as if saying her thoughts out loud would somehow help her make sense of them while he sat back, blinking faster than normal as he tried to figure out what was meant for him and what wasn’t. It was why they’d fit together so well before –he barely spoke, but she spoke enough for the both of them.
“There was sunshine there,” he remarked, mouth finally softening to the point of an almost smile. “I guess you just haven’t found another library to get lost in yet.” After a moment’s hesitation, he nodded in response to her question. “I think I have time for coffee.”
The blonde hesitated to speak, finally managing to say something. “The sun had stopped shinning for me when we were there. Nothing felt warm, everything just felt cold and miserable.” It was only after she opened her mouth that she realized he was joking, to which she only slumped back on the park bench for a moment. “Looks like I haven’t lost the ability to shove my foot in my mouth, huh? As for the library comment- I have yet to find another library to get lost in. I think it’s because it’s not my own, but I’m thinking of buying the book store in town square that’s looking for a new owner. Maybe SPELL can write me a fake resume.” Standing up from the park bench, Johanna stood in front of him, almost forgetting about the height difference between the two of them. “I think you do. You seem to be a lot taller than you were before. Looks like you need some coffee to shrink you down a bit.”
“I hope to be able to agree with you by the end of this meeting,” Stefan laughed lightly, nodding at her certainty of the coffee-shop’s greatness. And hey, she’d rarely been wrong before, when it came to doing that; he remembered near enough feeling the same way about anything she enjoyed, once she introduced them to him. Hell, one of the first things he’d requested once he got out of the mansion was for Kylie to get him some Pop-Tarts… not that he’d mention it, though. ‘Embarrassing’ didn’t quite cover it. “Great. Although, not the ‘no Pop-Tarts’ thing… you could get seriously sick. Figured they were one of your main food groups.” Flashing the blonde a gentle, teasing smile, Stefan wandered away toward the counter to order. And a few minutes later, he was back, tray of food and drinks held in his hands. “For the record, I’ve seen The Notebook a grand total of three times — and thankfully, can’t really remember the first two. And I can already say, yes, they’re definitely better.”
“You totally will, I promise,” Eloise laughed. He was just so kind, and that was something beautiful to her. The blonde had yet to meet someone throughout her entire life that was like him, and she was happy for that. One in a million. When he made the joke about her getting sick, Ellie couldn’t help but scrunch up her face before a soft chuckle escaped her lips. “They are. I plan on stocking up as soon as I go to the market. I heard they’ve released new flavors that I’ve yet to try, & that’s a huge deal for me.” Running her hands through her hair, Eloise placed her newspaper on the floor, her eyebrow raised. “You’ve seen The Notebook more times than I have. I’ve only seen it once, but I still think it’s amazing. I liked it better than the Titanic. & I’m gonna stop talking about movies because that’s probably a really lame topic.”
“—Ellie. Right?” Shoot. From what he’d heard from Stefan, she most definitely fit the blonde’s description physically. Then again, so did another blonde he’d heard mentioned once or twice, one who’d been more into Dante - Aphrodite, or Angelica… Adelaide. That was it. Not to mention the countless masses of girls both his brothers could have had flings with that hadn’t been too thoroughly described. But once she spoke, it was clear enough. And he most definitely regretted being so blunt. “I, uh… I mean, of course. I can, but… I can call him out, tell him you’re here, if you wanna stick around a sec and tell him yourself… your choice. Obviously.”
“Yeah, Ellie. Ellie James, or Eloise. All of those are me.” She was nervous just standing there, knowing that Stefan’s girlfriend could have walked out at any moment to see her standing at his doorstep. All she really wanted to do was run, but she couldn’t do that. She had to face the fact- Stefan cared for & possibly even loved someone else. “I don’t want to bother him. He’s busy, I understand that. I just- uh. Can you give these to him?” Going through her back, she pulled out a small cardboard box. “It’s a box of dairy free snacks. I got him some Oreo’s, & I got him four kinds of pop tarts that are lactose free. I was gonna leave him my address, but I think it’s about time to let him live his life the way that he deserves to. Can you also tell him that I’m happy for him? & I’m happy that he’s happy?”
“Wait, are you here for Stefan, or Dante, or — I just, I mean I don’t want to be the bearer of bad news but, Stef’s been in his room with his girlfriend for close to an hour now,” Alec cleared his throat, shifting awkwardly as he looked at the person in front of him. “And Dante — uh, Arrow, sorry — hasn’t been here in three days. So if you’re someone that one of them — if you had a thing, or something — you might be a little out of luck.
Eloise’s stomach flipped when the boy in front of her said that Stefan was in his room with his girlfriend. It hurt, she wasn’t gonna lie, but maybe this was what needed to happen. It was like ripping off a bandaid & being able to move on from it. “I uh- I was looking for Stefan. I just wanted to thank him for everything before I left. My sister & I were planning on moving away tomorrow, so I just wanted to say goodbye is all. Could you uh- could you pass him the message?”

Joanna looked better than the last time he’d seen her. There was even meat covering her fragile little bones. But that was to be expected, they all did. There normal lives, no matter how fucked up they could be, and their everyday worries were a lot less stressful than during their time at the mansion -less chance of someone poisoning your food or locking you in a coffin.
He, himself, had chiseled out a little more, having spent most of his time on the soccer field or in the gym. It wasn’t just him looking after Sophia any longer, making sure the little minx kept out of trouble. He could focus completely on himself and his own issues…whenever he got around to it.
"You look good, Jo." He smiled instead, choosing to ignore her rambling.
Seeing him casually hurt a small bit, but when he told her that she looked good, she couldn't help but smile. Coming from him that meant a lot, but she knew not to let herself fall for him again. He was a different person now, a new name & everything. The only thing Johanna knew was the few things he had told her back in the mansion, and that his sister was one of the worlds best people. But he had almost transformed since the mansion, and all she was still a plain jane. "I uh- thank you. I guess the sunshine has done me well. I would say you look good as well, because you do, but I would be cheating because you just said that." She couldn't help but laugh, feeling a tad awkward. The blonde nervously ran her hands through her hair, looking out into the field before looking back at him. "Do you have time to go get a coffee with me? If you don't that's fine, but I could go for a tea & a strawberry scone."

Ellie, I don’t have much to say. Because I’m not a guy of many words. So I guess I’m gonna have to go with the obvious. Drum roll, please. Happy Valentine’s day. Love Stefan. :)

Dear Lauren/Chastity, Fawn wanted make you the card, so I told her she could {she marked it & everything}. I was gonna get you 'The Notebook', but instead of doing that I decided to bribe you into coming to visit by saying I bought it for myself. We can see our beautiful Ry-Guy & sob. I got you a sign about love & chocolate, because now you can finally eat them, I also thought it was quite cute. I got you a hat so that you can block the sun from your eyes in the summer {Fawn picked it out, she thought you might like it}, & I got you a candle with an inspirational quote on it so that every time you light it you can either laugh or feel inspired. Love, Ivy {& Fawn}
