when you are planning to do something, you are taking responsibility. you are maintaining agency in your own life.

the moment someone else says “hey pick up your shit” then it becomes their command and your response to them. No longer do you get told “hey wow you picked up nice!” you get told “why did it take you so long to do what i asked”

Naturally, hearing that enough times creates a pattern of “rebellion” whereupon ANY request to do ANYTHING you’ve been planning to do immediately sours it

I was watching an episode in season 4 when JJ was pregnant. Emily was talking with Spencer and asked, “Do you want little baby geniuses one day?” And Spencer didn’t really reply, but it evident that he did want kids. And throughout the whole entire series it’s been brought up that he loves kids and wants kids one day. Why would they drag out that small plot point, only to make it never happen? So, if this show ends and Spencer doesn’t get that happy ending he deserves with a family, I am going to be very upset.
