Project Hail Mary is tagged ‘project hail mary’ but beyond that I won’t do spoiler tags or differentiate between the book and movie so keep that in mind when interacting. Also, Iron Lung will occasionally make an appearance because I’m a sucker for platonic BloodyMary content but I haven’t seen the movie or played the game so crossovers are the extent of its appearances. Any iron lung content will be tagged as ‘iron lung’, and crossovers with Hail Mary are tagged ‘bloodymary’.

yes grace is going to go crazy on that ship having nothing to eat but opioid sludge for years without any human contact but i think we need to remember that rocky is also going to go crazy living in mine shafts for years with nothing but their walls to remind him of his entire planet. the alien he's hitching a ride with has an endless supply of entertainment but rocky has to keep being like "look at this new pulley system i designed. it's the 84th version of it i have made on this trip. tomorrow? version 85" otherwise he's gonna snap for real. the alien is also perpetually gurgling

My personal headcanons on Rocky and Adrian's engravings.

When Rocky first introduced himself, he put his front two arms together and displayed these engravings that fit together perfectly. I remembered seeing SOMEWHERE that that was supposed to be his family crest, but I cannot for the life of me find the source of that anywhere. But anyways, here's my take on Adrian's family crest when she introduces herself

Plus, Rocky has a mission engraving on his shoulder, marking him as part of the space crew to solve the Petrova Line crisis. I once saw a headcanon from someone saying that Adrian was part of a team making biodomes for Erid when their world started getting colder as their star dimmed to help preserve towns and such, and I've been IN LOVE with that headcanon ever since I read it. That all said, Adrian in my design has a mission engraving as well, one of Erid and their star. Grace save stars. Adrian save Erid.

I love them a normal amount.

i always think about how they have to sleep without a watcher again after they parted. book grace would look over at the walls and tunnels rocky left and do his sad little ritual. maybe he gave rocky a copy of the video logs so rocky could sleep to graces voice :(

i do think the one thing the project hail mary novel has over the film adaptation is that when rocky boils himself alive in grace's atmosphere to save his life rather than be left alone again book grace is like "man what the hell was that for" and goes and boils himself right back for the exact same reasons. i just think it would settle a lot of discussions about their codependency and whether or not they're each other's equals to be reminded that they would literally light themselves on fire before being prepared to lose each other.
