Jeff Bezos and Amazon are a fucking blight upon the working class. He got rich by treating rank and file employees like hot garbage toiling under dehumanizing, backbreaking conditions for shitty pay. When there are this many random strangers across various sectors/departments of a single company sharing similar horror stories, that can’t be dismissed as just a few disgruntled ex-employees. Grievances like these are why I quit using Amazon. They made my life easier at the expense of thousands of hardworking people being mistreated and disrespected behind closed doors. (thread)

It’s great that Nintendo is delaying Animal Crossing to polish it to a mirror like finish; because inducing crunch and rushing development is how you end up with the virtually unplayable buggy mess that is Fallout 76; there are videos on YouTube that are nearly THREE HOURS LONG detailing the amount of bugs and glitches that game has. (And Bethesda also completely screwed the pooch when it came to things like their tie in merchandise (Nuka Cola Dark) and their high dollar editions [offering a measly $5 of in game currency to satisfy unhappy customers that expected a real canvas bag that was hyped to hell and back for their $200 Power Armor Edition]) Unfortunately it will likely take an industry wide walkout of game developers to finally open the eyes of game company executives about the dangers and unethical use of crunching.

Those “productivity specialists” have no fucking clue how efficiency works. They shave costs wherever they can by using outdated equipment and skeleton crews, while ignoring all the lost sales when people get frustrated by delays or poor service or just not being able to find what they want, all the product that goes missing or gets damaged when nobody has time to organize anything or do basic maintenance because they’re stuck doing two other people’s work, the price of complaints and returns and lawsuits when things inevitably get fucked up, the damage to their reputation every time a customer walks away with an impression of a halfway abandoned store…

They’re saving pennies by throwing away dollars. It looks good on an expense report because you can brag that you reduced costs, but it cuts profits even more and slowly drives the whole business into the ground. Personally I can’t wait for the days when corporations are taken over by soulless machines who maximize money at the cost of all else, because that would put an end to the utter stupidity being handed down from Home Office every day by our idiot human “leaders”.

This is so familiar to me theater it’s not funny; they expect ONE associate to do the jobs of 3 to 4! But the REAL punch to the nuts happens when those “productivity specialists” recommends bringing in 3rd party companies to replace in house associates, which is what essentially happened to me last August. Imagine yourself working away doing your job when you get called into the office, and they tell you that the Home Office is implementing a new program that involves 3rd party companies that cuts your hours from a full 40 down to an absolutely pathetic 24; and this was AFTER I fought tooth and nail to get full time status! I kept my cool for the rest of my shift, but when I got home and the full force of what the company was doing to me finally hit me, I FUCKING LOST MY SHIT. THREE FUCKING YEARS OF BENDING OVER BACKWARDS FOR THIS COMPANY AND THIS IS THE THANKS I GET?!?! I was actually thinking of driving to the home office with a copy of the new program and demanding to see one of the higher management and telling them that this is exactly how you get disgruntled workers like me!

Heavy denim "Starfleet" jackets

I love the clothes from Volante Design (“Superhuman Streetwear”); their latest is the “Starfleet 2364” line of men’s and women’s jackets inspired by Star Trek: The Next Generation uniforms.

The jackets are made of heavy denim and are basically extremely well-styled/tailored biker jackets (like Volante’s excellent Hacker jackets), partially or fully unzipping them and folding down their lapels takes them from “cosplay” to “cosplay adjacent” in an instant. They’ve got loads of interior and exterior pockets, and are double-stitched and come in “Command Red, Operations Gold, or Sciences Blue,” sized 37 - 51, 55 (men), and 33 - 45 (women). They’re made in Chicago, retail for $315, and will ship by December 14th.
