Turning Dreams into Reality!
Happy Saturday Everyone! Todayâs post is in regards to transferring your thoughts and hopes into your everyday life. The other day, if or when you read my post and imagined yourself in your dream destination, it was just that - a dream. However, turning your dream into a possibility is easier than you would think. Itâs as simple as goal making. Instead of labeling your destination as a dream, or the idea of traveling a dream, call it a goal. From a young age, we are hand fed the goals that weâre âsupposed to haveâ, based on our cultural settings. Go to school, get a job, get married, have a kid. If you are on this path and are not feeling any sort of fulfillment, ever, then these are not your goals. These are somebody elseâs goals that you are following.
Donât beat yourself up if you arenât perfect in your pursuit. Of course life isnât easy, but if you have set realistic goals that pertain to your passions and interests, it will be easier to find a sense of fulfillment and accomplishment each day. This is why taking one step, or day at a time is important. A lot of the time when people make goals, they concentrate only on the end goal, which may be weeks or months away. When you think of your goal as a whole, and donât break it down into the shorter term steps to getting there, the goal becomes a larger task. With shorter term goals, your ultimate destination will not seem as impossible since you are able to tangibly see progression with each smaller feat. Below Iâll walk you through the beginning of a goal progression plan that you can use yourself. Start with your ultimate *goal*
[I would like to: travel When: by the end of 2017]
Next, break your ultimate goal into a series of realistic short term goals. If youâve given yourself a deadline, itâs a good idea to give each step a window to be completed in. Organizing your time this way will help you feel productive. Itâs best to start with the larger more general tasks, and then work your way into the details, especially if your goals include saving money.
[Step 1: Decide on a destination. -country. cities. Step 2: Decide when to go. -research peak seasons. am I willing to pay for peak season. when can I get time off. how long do I want to go for. Step 3: What do I need, and when by. gear and equipment. costs and a budget or savings plan. research visas and paperwork.]
From here you can continue to break each task down into smaller parts. One suggestion I have that I use is a planner. Having a planner is a lifesaver but of course you can use your phone or a calendar. Once youâve got some sort of game plan and have it all written down in front of you, your dream will become a feasible goal. I hope that this post gave you some sort of insight into how you can start moving in the direction your heart is craving! Cheers to the weekend. Xx
WHY NOT YOU? Everyone can travel. You donât have to be rich, you donât have to have a someone to go with, and you donât necessarily have to plan every detail. There are two things that you do need though, to be determined and to prioritize. It doesnât have to be a trip or vacation that changes your entire life goals - whether you want to go away for a weekend or for a year - you can! Before we start talking about flights, accommodation or anything following arriving at your destination, I want you to try something, bare with me: close your eyes for a moment. While theyâre closed, think of your dream destination, somewhere youâve spent serious time daydreaming about or looking at pictures of. Now imagine yourself there, what are you doing? Who are you with? Even consider details - what are you wearing? Are you comfortable and relaxed, or exhausted from a vigorous adventure? The last question I want you to ask yourself is âwhy NOT meâ? The only difference between you and any person already fulfilling their desire to travel, is that they areâŠalready fulfilling their desire to travel, and you just havenât yet! Some people go for school, some people go for work or a missionary trip, some vacation, and some just to accomplish some sort of personal growth. Whatever it may be that your heart desires, you can do it - and this doesnât have to only apply to traveling. What you need to do next is make the decision, with no commitment to time or destination just yet. Once you decide that you definitely want to travel and you feel even the slightest bit of confidence or determination, it starts to become easier to prioritize your time or funds to go toward your trip. My next few posts are going to include information to help guide you toward narrowing down your options and making your dreams become a reality! For now, continue imagining yourself on your trip to inspire you. Thanks for reading my first real post.
