Queen of all Cosmos at Katsu!
Hey yo!
Sorry we have all been posting all our content elsewhere. T.T We are still a group of cosplayers just we are now focusing on our own content, making it the best we absolutely can. You can follow us on our own cosplay blogs and we will totally continue working on this blog the best we can. Thanks for sticking around!! Cosplay on my dudes!! -erosie
Hey yo!Â
Erosie here, sorry about the lack of updates. It has been a hard end of 2016 and a much crazier beginning to 2017. A lot has happened among our group. I am super excited to say all things are good and going to be even greater.Â
Moving on to why we made this blog in the first place. COSPLAY!! *cheers and cries* I am super excited to say our group will be attending Washicon January 21 2017. Most of us will be doing repeats however we are super excited to go. Feel free to say hi and whatnot! Also we are starting to prep for Katsucon in February. Get ready for some updates and some actual content.
Remember if you have any questions or advice you can message us at any time!

Cosplanning Printables
Good evening!
Per the request made during InfiniteSalad and I’s panel this Sunday at Youmacon, here are some of the printables we use in planning and budgeting for our cosplays!
The first is a collection of calendars, convention organizers and budgeting sheets you can find here
The second is a collection of worksheets where you can add references, sketch designs, make material lists and budget which you can download here.
Thank you again to everyone who attended our panel, we’re very excited to see your costume progress! Â
Stay tuned for photo-dumps of cosplay from the weekend!Â
Hey yo! It is currently 6:37 am Monday morning and to no ones surprise I am currently awake. We had an amazing weekend at Youmacon! We were all so happy to see everyone. We all had a gross cos-fam powwow and talked about our favorite things from the con, we had a secret youma santa and a bunch of other gross con family things. I am very fortunate to have these nerds as my family. I am also happy to say that Youmacon as a whole is an amazing group of people and thank you again for hosting our favorite convention! See you all next year! -Erosie
Good Morning!! Erosie here and exhausted but overly excited for Youmacon! I can't wait to get out there with my team and enjoy an amazing weekend! Just a couple of reminders, if you see any of us please feel free to come up and say hi! I do believe none of us bite anymore. We love to talk with you and see all the work you guys have done. As well feel free to take pictures but I beg of you please please please ask permission. It is actually a huge pet peeve of mine. Its disrespectful and, if you ask I will definitely get in a cute pose for you (much better then a creeper shot). I believe this goes for most cosplayers. Just ask, its not that hard. We rarely run into this problem at cons, usually because the cosplay community is pretty awesome! Also ask before touching some of our cosplays are fragile and our paint may not be dry (ahem, that crunch tho). Cosplay is not consent, and we don't want anyone to be uncomfortable. We all can't wait to get out there also don't forget to look out for the panel Sal and Rachael and doing Sunday afternoon. (I'll be there BTW) As well Sal and Rachael will be at the masquerade along with myself! Happy crunch if anyone else has a few things left to do! -Erosie
Some Sailor Mars work from the other night! The pieces are sewn now but there's much more to go #youmacon2016 #sailormoon #cosplay
Patterns, refs, and more+
So this con season I made myself Pidge and a Shiro paladin costumes to wear, with pretty good results. The worst part of it though was the amount of time I spent drafting patterns, so I figured this might be a good resource for anyone else looking to make armor in the future.
This is all based on my measurements (a 5′1″ average-ish build with… bigger thighs), so you’ll likely need to make adjustments to have this fit yourself, but hopefully this makes building your own cosplay a little easier. Materials, patterns and everything under the cut. Hope it helps!

Some pictures from last weekend for Sailor Mars progress! Hopefully more updates to follow soon #youmacon2016 #cosplay #sailormoon
Corsets are very finicky, very fitted, very individualized garments, so even more so than other pieces you might encounter in costume-making. As such you should always make a mock-up before cutting into your fancy fabric with a pattern that may not fit.
That said, corsets are a pain in the ass to put together so doing a full and proper mock-up is also a pain in the ass.  A proper corset has at least two layers, with boning channels, with (preferably) steel boning cut to size for each channel. Aka lots of work just for a test fit. Not everyone has the time to do this 2-3 times, so we take a few shortcuts.
Some corset mock-up hacks to save time and tears:
Instead of cutting your steel, capping it, and possibly finding out you’ve cut it the wrong size (and wasting it!), use plastic heavy duty zipties. Durability doesn’t matter if all you’re doing is testing the fit. Your local hardware store and Amazon sells them.
Instead of making a multi-layer mock up with real boning channels to stick my zip ties in, I get super macguyver and tape them to the inside of the corset, along the seamlines where they would normally go.  Masking tape is good for this because it will usually stick to muslin but can be peeled off a bit when I’m making adjustments.  Just make sure you tape it carefully, along the full pressed out length of the seam.
Putting in real grommets to do the lacing in the back is a waste of my time and 10 cents a grommet. Â Instead I bought a yard of premade heavy coutil eyelet tape and basted it into the back. Â It lets me lace up the test and then I can just seamrip it back off. (Grab your own here)

What kind of paint do you guys use to repaint props to look like metal? Every paint that I've tried so far flakes off of everything!
