So firstly, welcome to the world of witchcraft. I hope you have an amazing journey and a lot of really positive experiences with it.
Iâll talk about charging in general first. This is basically the act of filling something with energy, or refreshing the energy it already carries. Everything in natural -crystals, plants, planets, humans, etc- has a natural energy inside of it. Different things have different types of energies inside of them. Crystals are a great example of this. The energies within an amethyst differ from the those of a moonstone, selenite, etc. When charging crystals, you are reaffirming their power and refreshing their strengths.
Charging in this sense can be done in numerous different ways. Here are some of my favorites:
Set them out to bask in the glow of the full moon
Use a selenite wand or bowl (selenite is a charging crystal and doesnât need to be charged itself because of this)
Charge them with your own energies by softly blowing on them while focusing your mind on pure, positive thoughts
Itâs also important to note that things should always be cleansed before being charged. Cleansing can also be done in a number of different ways, but the simplest way is to just pass it through the smoke of a bundle of sage.
As far as charging yourself, there are loads of different ways a person may do this. You are part of this universe and you carry your own unique energies and powers. The way one person recharges may not work for someone else. The most effective way for me to recharge is to sit in the rain (it helps that I live in the PNW lol) or shower. Here are a few ways another person may recharge themself, although the possibilities are truly endless. I suggest playing around with different options and really listening to your mind, body, and spirit as you practice different techniques or try things out on your own to find what works best for you.
Eating a healthy, hearty meal
Walking barefoot in nature
Climbing to the top of a hill and just looking out at the scenery
Going to the ocean, a lake, a river, etc and watching the water
Those are just some examples that came to mind. And while some may work great for you, you might find that one specific way is the most effective. In my case, I feel really recharged and great after being with cats, watching the ocean, cuddling my friends, and being in nature, but my absolute most effective method is watching the rain/showering.
Now, charging things like perfumes is a little different. With this method of charging, youâre taking something and putting your intention into it to give it power. Like with most things, there are multiple ways to practice this, but hereâs my go-to method.
Take the object you desire to charge (weâll keep using the perfume bottle example here)
Hold the bottle between your hands and clear your mind. Concentrate on your breathing and positive thoughts that convey your intentions. Say you wanted to charge your perfume to boost your confidence. As you meditate with it, youâll think reaffirming thoughts such as
âI can do anything I put my mind toâ
And as you keep repeating things like that, imagine a glowing light coursing through your skin. Visualize this as the energy of your intention and allow it to flow into the bottle, charging the perfume with your will. Now, when you use that perfume, youâll be spraying your intentions and your goals on yourself as a boost of the magical power thatâs already inside of you. You can also use crystals while charging it as a tool to lend their power to you.
