I headcanon that Cupid has to act scared around things that are completely normal to her, but she doesn't exactly know what the Ever After High students consider scary so she acts..overly afraid of everything.

That moment she was scared of the woods? Fake.

She acts very overly afraid of Mr. Badwolf and other villains and Mr. Badwolf feels really bad because he doesn't know why he scares Cupid so much.

Everyone tries to figure out what DOESN'T scare Cupid and Cupid just acts afraid of any little thing they show her that's slightly creepy.

Blondie is very confused by this because she literally has skulks with little pink bows in their room, she does specials on her mirrorcast about Cupid and her fears.

But at the same time she says really creepy fucked up shit by Ever After High standards.

No one knows what's up with Cupid, she is forever confusing to them.

Then he adds jet engines to make the balloons faster.

Clearly the next step is to make them invulnerable to boomerangs.

Conclusion: Varian will develop airships and thereby fulfill his destiny of bringing Corona into the steampunk age.

This moment is tragic for a LOT of reasons

Not just because the heartbreak Varian is clearly going through. Or the fact that Cass was frozen for just the wrong moment and didn’t hear that this was unintentional.

Chances are that no one will ever question this.

“Oh look, the device that Varian built just malfunctioned and caused a disaster? How shocking and unexpected. This has definitely never happened before.”

Everyone there- including Varian himself- might very well think that a malfunction makes total sense because after all, Varian hasn’t exploded anything since last week so clearly something like this was overdue, right?
