UKITAKE KNOWS PERFECTLY WELL that many in the soul society care little for living tradition . having little experience in the world of the living , he can hardly claim to be an EXPERT , but he knows that he likes to CELEBRATE . so , if there’s a holiday in which gifts can be given , the captain is more than HAPPY to partake . of course , this is typically rather one - sided on his part , so to see a gift for himself is  .  .  .  HEARTWARMING , to say the least . he can’t help the WIDE GRIN that sneaks onto his lips .

SIMON CRACKS A SMILE , staring down at the items . he’d like to say the gifts are unexpected , but in truth , he’s already PREDICTED this . in fact , as the items are handed off to him , he is handing a wrapped package to apollo in return . it’s several books -- personal FAVORITES -- ones he hopes will keep the attorney busy and give him some PEACE . stacked on top of the books is a box of fine tea .

Maybe he shouldn’t have sat down in this very spot. This spot where the bench was nice and warm and the sun filtering down through the leaves of a tree must have just made it too picturesque to resist. Next thing he knew, he had his arm propped up and gently leaning against it as he cradled his cheek and eyes began to close.

To any onlooker it would seem he had drifted off into a light sleep. His breath slowing and posture sagging slightly in his seat. Unguarded for but a moment and if the faint bags under his eyes were anything to go by, this brief respite was necessary. Exhaustion is never too far away from the Chosen One, much as he tries to keep it from showing.

But the tranquil scene soon passed, with eyes shooting open as if he had merely blinked. So much for letting down his guard. A silly thought in retrospect. His title doesn’t allow him the flexibility to afford complacency in public.

“I know I’m incredibly attractive but I can’t say I’m really into the whole being stared at thing.”

RITA CROSSES HER ARMS with an indignant huff . brows furrowed , her glare doesn’t leave the stranger -- she doesn’t do things just because someone TELLS HER to . she’s STERN in her visage , always . this irritated response is an INEVITABLE reaction when faced with push - back to her actions -- be they JUSTIFIED or otherwise .
