âWho knew,â Beron mused, âthat a cock could be so persuasive?â
âFather.â Erisâs voice was low with warning. (...) Perhaps Eris would be High Lord sooner than he planned.
How that scene played out to me.
When Jurian enters the scene, I get so patriotic in a Iâm Every Woman Chaka Khan kinda way except itâs Iâm Every Human. Yes he went a little crazy but he RODE for his species.
People donât like what he did to Clythia (I know itâs all fictional) but truly, why would I give even half a damn about a faerie who enslaved and tortured humans? Like excuse me, Iâm human. Thatâs me youâre talking about.
So when I read what he did to her in the end, my reaction was âwell shiiitâ. And that only.
Why do e/riels use Lucien being apart of Elainâs trauma as a âgotchaâ moment?
I donât think they understand that SJM realized they were going to be mates while writing ACOMAF, wherein Elain is kidnapped and thrown into the cauldron, while simultaneously realizing Nessian is endgame. Same book, same writing era.
Lucienâs role in her trauma (to whatever extent you think heâs complicit) was always apart of the package deal with Elucien. Thatâs where the âtensionâ from SJMâs old tumblr post is stemming from for the most part. It was always apart of their story together.
When Elain finds the time to confront being faerie, sheâs going to have to confront having a mate. Letâs not forget that Elain has NOT rejected the bond. She hasnât even had a proper conversation with the male. Sheâs obviously trying her best to ignore it which says enough about her current state of mind, despite her finding some footing in ACOSF. The core issues are still there waiting to be dealt with.
Elucien happening does NOT mean she has to sever ties with the Inner circle, theyâre obviously her family. People act like she can never step foot in the NC if sheâs with Lucien when in reality, theyâd still have business there. Lucien is literally a NC emissary.
People also forget that the bond isnât easy for Lucien either. I gather Elain isnât the only one trying to ignore it. But I donât think Elain ignores him out of disinterest at all, I think sheâs just extremely uncomfortable with being drawn to him as mates are, especially bc sheâs not taken the time to understand it.
If Sarah cared about what Elain wanted, she would have had her end up with Graysen "But my heart belongs to you," âI donât want a mate. I donât want a male.â She wanted a human man," she would have written her as returning to the human lands to live "I want to go home," she repeated.
If Sarah had given Elain what she wanted, she would have never been there to stab the King, to save Nesta, to save Cassian, to stop the war.
I'm glad Sarah is the type of author who knows what Elain needs over what she wants, something she further confirmed when she said "And they usually wind up with the people that they need to be with and who offer them the most growth and joy.â because Elain will have more growth and make more of a difference in their world as a future High Lady than anything else.
Elain + Azriel = Feyre + Tarquin
Allows the FMC to escape the kerfuffle that is their life.
No real internal/identity battles to be fought through and won in these dynamics.
Easy to love one another, or in e/rielâs case, lust over each other.
Was reading an Elucien fic with e/riel tension at first then Pushing It Down and Praying by Lizzie McAlpine randomly started playing.
Cruel.
"google ai" "spotify ai dj" "ai assistant" "enhanced by ai" what if i just start beating people over the head with a rock
Seriously craving an Elucien scene where Lucien says something along the lines of âWell if itâs truly what you want, reject the bond.â
Where Elain straight up stumbles over her words, canât put a sentence together and is at total war with herself. She tries to convince herself that rejecting the bond is what she wants yet she just canât do it and it frustrates her to no end.
Pure angst.
maybe we should just cancel sjm for forcing real life woman elain archeron to be mates with FBI's most wanted evil horrible cruel evil in all five books unlike your fave lucien vanserra
I love gwynriel donât get me wrong,
But if they didnât end up happening, I still think Azriel would admire Gwyn the way he admires and talks about the Nephelle philosophy, having her as an inspiration. Heâs seen her at her worst, literally, and then watched her grow into a strong Valkyrie and survive the Blood Rite. Canonically, he looks at her with admiration in his eyes when sheâs training, heâs surprised by her irreverent and charming persona.
This may be reaching but if he has children, whoever he has them with, I can picture Azriel talking to them about Gwyn as a way to motivate them, like what he did with Feyre. Idk I just thought that would be cute, platonic and all.

do i need to say anything else? i will eat up any musician lucien au scenario
Stolen on an ACOTAR fb group.
I can't it's hilarious đ
Is sjm racist?
Iâve seen hella posts saying that her portrayal of the Illyrians is her racist side coming out because they embody the stereotype of brown uncivilized men crawling after white women.
It made me question why people have been saying this. There are other POC in Acotar that are the opposite of this stereotype, are very educated, non-abusive and, all in all, are beautiful souls. For example, Tarquin and his cousins, Helion, Thesan and his entourage and Lucien.
So why do people call SJM racist when it comes to the Illyrians?
My first thought was, people actually donât want Illyrians to be poc because that would mean the main men of the series are, and woah, we donât want that!Kind of a reflection of our own racist views, perhaps?
I mean, you can argue that âomg of course she makes the brown ppl barbaric and white women lovers with backward minds, just makes so much sense sheâs racist!â
But to me, it gives off the vibe that you actually believe in this stereotype.
My second thought, including all the above, being that it just doesnât make sense. We have many other cruel, misogynistic and abusive characters who are WHITE. So why is it so bad when it comes to Illyrians, why is it all of a sudden a gateway to the author not having enough diversity in their books and harmful stereotypes placed on brown ppl. If every POC in this series was like that then yes, I would be side eyeing Tf out of SJM.
And if you argue that all the POC are portrayed as sexually untamed, my dear friend did we completely skip past the part where Tamlin has this annual sex ritual?? No? Ok. Guys, I think itâs just a Fae thing, they do tend to get a bit wildđŤŁ.
As a brown person myself, I donât think some of you actually care about racial stereotypes within modern day literature, I think the issue is you donât want the main love interests to be POC.
I feel like ppl have to say this too much but itâs canon Illyrians are brown skinned, I canât believe I have to do this but pg 386 from Acosf âshe watched his LIGHT BROWN fingers play against her pale skinâ nesta referring to cassian. Anybody with common sense can full well acknowledge that light brown is not just tan. And there are many other times where Illyrians are described to have golden-BROWN skin. Search the skin tones up on google if youâre having that much trouble comprehending it.
Thank you I rest my case. Cant argue with book itself babes not gna work outđ¤ˇđ˝ââď¸
Vanserras and their Weasley potential.
Just imagine Beron wasnât a soulless asshole and LOAs affair with Helion never happened. Lucien is actually Beronâs child. Beron and LOA are in a happy healthy marriage with all their kids and itâs literally the Weasleys in another universe.
I wouldâve loved this. Instead of dawn being the neutral court itâs autumn and at the high lord meetings theyâre the old asf mama and papa trying to maintain peace and are actually very inclusive.
Just the cozy autumn aesthetic and the cheeky vanserra family. Literal slayđ¤đ˝. They shelter Jurian and Vassa courtesy of them being Lucienâs bestie boos. The way the plot wouldâve been drastically different.
Damn.đ§đ˝ââď¸
Yeah no could never imagine Beron not being an abusive jerk.
Some of yâall rly suck the fun out of reading ACOTAR.
Taking it toooo seriously itâs a YA fantasy romance 100% FICTIONAL book itâs not a biography.
You must be hella bored if you spend your time hating on a series thatâŚdoesnât rly matter when you consider everything else in the word.
You donât like a book series? Cute. Go find another and leave those who enjoy it ALONE. Make your critical posts ig, have fun but donât go attacking ppl. Itâs so unnecessary the way ppl be talking abt those who enjoy acotar. Not your cup of tea? Once againâŚ
Cute. Go find another.
Acting like SJM should be writing like Dante Alighieri or else itâs jus not good enough like miss gurl cant help it if ppl like fae porn and dramađ¤ˇđ˝ââď¸ itâs making her money too, a win for her. I believe she writes good fantasy even without the romance/smut and Iâve read a lot of fantasy but to each their own. Even if you donât like it, thereâs a reason the series has a big fandom.
I got my own things abt acotar that I donât like butâŚima peaceful kinda person itâs jus not within me to write 6 page long essay on how bad acotar is and why ppl shouldnât read it cuz âew so disgusting no morals every character is badâ
Now I donât know if you guys can recall, but it is a FICTIONAL book and I also said in a recent post that ppl need to stop applying our morals in a fictional world. Characters are meant to be complex and have flaws, no one is perfect they arenât god and obviously some characters are going to be viewed different when weâre reading through different perspectives (how nesta views rhysand in acosf, even cassian compared to how feyre views him). All characters arenât meant to share the same views but it doesnât necessarily mean one is right and the other is wrong. I believe that when weâre reading characters that are hundreds of years old it is bc of their age and individual experiences throughout time that they can become questionable in their morals and mindset simply bc they have endured so much and donât see the world in black and white. Not every immortal is a wise old wizard in literature.
I didnât rly like Rhys in ACOSF. I didnât like Mor or Amren. Amren was not always fae, she is one of the oldest creatures In their faerie world and was not originally from their faerie world, I would be very surprised if she had the same beliefs/morals as the prythian fae from the get-go. Will never ever be on the same mental level as the rest of the characters. And I donât mean childish I mean the exact opposite.
Iâm not excusing the characters actions, theyâre not written to be excused. But if the series and everything that happens in it seriously bothers you. Maybe itâs time for a breakđ
Now I know fs you guys wouldnât be able to handle Game of Thrones with the way them characters be acting.
I will never not think about acotar characters listening to our music and watching our films. Iâve said this before and Iâll say it again, Cassian would listen to 90s rap/hip hop religiously. Imagine the inner circle watching our horror movies or the avengers. Beautiful, absolutely beautifulđ
@ SJM, please please please. If Gwyn and Az are actually getting the next book, let them have an easygoing friendship that slowly turns into love with a healthy dose of angst on top, but for the love of everything donât put them through unnecessary drama đŠđ
Azriel has been through enough and a dramatic start of a relationship is the last thing he needs. Gwynâs just about to step into the outside world, sheâs trusting a male for the first time since Sangravah, and she doesnât need to be thrown into any messy situations. Both deserve peace of mind and a healthy relationship, and I hope Sarah doesnât sacrifice that just for a bit of drama.
Amen.
Gwynriel needs that slow burn and easygoing friendship to show Azriel (and Gwyn but mostly Az) that love doesnât have to be hard or inaccessible. To show him that loving someone doesnât have to be so difficult and that it can be easy and peaceful. He doesnât need forbidden/unrequited love, it has caused him a lot of pain, itâs unnecessary to make him go through that again with Elain.
