Donald Sutherland died less than a year ago, and I find it extremely disgusting and gross the way people are DEMANDING that Kiefer Sutherland take over the role as President Snow.
did any of you stop to think maybe Kiefer is uncomfortable with it? did any of you stop to think that maybe Kiefer is still grieving his father who died LESS THAN A YEAR AGO???
I understand the desire to see Kiefer Sutherland take over the role, but the way people are demanding it and think they’re entitled to it is gross and shows a complete lack of empathy for a man who lost his father.
shout out to suzanne collins for, in the middle of Everything Else she was doing in sotr, dropping a paragraph that’s just “btw fuck ai”
Thinking about how Wyatt Callow is proof that Dr. Gaul’s and Snow’s assertion that humanity’s essential nature is violent (which is part of their argument for the Capitol’s control being necessary) is false. That “What happened in the arena? That’s humanity undressed… A boy with a club who beats another boy to death. That’s mankind in its natural state.” is false.
I’m sure he had it all calculated. He knew exactly what choices would give him the best odds of survival. He knew that the faster he got out of the initial bloodshed the better his chances would be. He knew that letting other kids die would benefit his odds of survival. He knew exactly what he should’ve done to preserve himself.
And yet, he threw all those statistics and odds, all that reason and logic out the window in the name of protecting Lou Lou, a girl that wasn’t even from his district. He threw it all out the window in the name of helping another human being that was in an unfair situation and had worse odds than him. He knew who the real enemy was; he knew it wasn’t the other kids being taken advantage of by the Capitol just like him.
That is humanity.
What do you think Asterid feared more?
Her daughter dying in the Games? Or her daughter turning into Haymitch if she survived the Games?
I saw a review of Sunrise on the Reaping where they said the games themselves were “boring” and “we want to watch the action, we want to see the bloodbath!” like ok Miss Capitol!
He also said that Haymitch blowing up the tankard kinda just happened and then “was never of consequence again” like did we read the same book??? very confused on how someone could read this book and arrive to that conclusion
He then went on to say he wasn’t moved by Amphert or Lou Lou because “we’ve seen this before”
I just…am truly in disbelief.
Ampert would’ve been so proud😭
haymitch first encounters maysilee in the arena when she skewers the neck of a tribute with a dart to save his life, and haymitch leaves maysilee in the arena after she has her neck skewered by mutts
oh wyatt callow, the boy who weighed everyones odds in the arena and still threw himself in front of a blade for lou lou, knowing hers too.
rip maysilee donner, you would’ve loved joan rivers and the fashion police
Haymitch’s mom agreeing to filming the propos because she wanted to hold Haymitch one last time to the end where she and Sid are buried holding one another PLEASE MAKE IT STOP
I finished reading Sunrise on the Reaping and Im an absolute wreck. Im 26 now and I read The Hunger Games when it was first released when I was 10 and I’ve been reflecting a lot on that.
Like when I first read this series, I was too young to even be part of the reaping(until Mockingjay at least). Even though Katniss and Peeta were only 16, they felt so old to 10 year old me. I reread the series as a teenager, and again as an adult, and the way my experience has changed reading the series each time is insane.
I’ve aged out of the reaping, and I’m so much older than Katniss, Peeta, and Haymitch during his games. When I was a kid reading the series, I obviously knew that The Hunger Games were a horrible and horrific event, but idk. The tributes just feel more like little babies to me now than they did back then.
I’m glad Sunrise on the Reaping came out while I was an adult. Kid me was a smart kid and all, but being an adult allowed me to understand things I just know kid me wouldn’t have quite understood. Now I’m gonna go cry for the next 12 hours
I started my new job today and I’m officially an ecologist🥺
it sounds kinda silly but I’ve always dreamed of being an ecologist and I just can’t believe I’m really doing it😭
I honestly can’t stop opening my phone just to look at my campsite it’s so pretty
