Guys, you don't need blue and yellow, you don't need room analyses, you don't need to get everyone's approval that Byler is endgame...

Just take the basis:

-S5 is centered around Will. "It started with him and it ends with him."

-We're gonna learn abt WiseOne lore.

-We know Henry turned the way he did because he saw the world as hopeless and love didn't save him. So he's gonna try to make Will feel as hopeless and alone as him (and let's say Mike, s3 and s4, his family's neglect (even if not intentional), etc. will help him with that lmao) to use him.

-But Henry and Will are foils, they will not have the same ending -> "You don't know the ending until it's sung all through // Then, let's make it a gay (😁+🏳️‍🌈) one." - Henry and Patty

-Love always wins in Stranger Things. What is pointless and a weakness to Vecna will be a strength to Will and we know "Will's emotional arc will tie the whole series together."

They introduced Will's feelings for Mike at the same time the latter couldn't say "I love you" to his girlfriend. The crush plot didn't have to exist or it could have been resolved in s4 but it wasn't. They could have kept Byler platonic and just have Mike play the same role as anyone else in loving Will but it's not what happened. And you think in a season where Will needs to be loved, where he needs love to save him to go against Vecna, they made him spend his time with Mike and they kept his romantic feelings for him just to have him... get rejected? And be proven right in the fact he will never be loved back? No they kept it until the very last season because they need it all for Will's character and not in a negative way like it was the case in s4. [x] [x]

Because that was the whole point of Will's arc in s4. That was the whole point of Mike's speech and MiIeven still being together when it comes to Will's character. He needed to already be hopeless, he needed to already feel rejected. There's no other confession coming, he's already down. And that's one of the things Vecna is gonna use against him. That's why for Mike's platonic love to save him, the rejection should have happened in s4 as a setup for s5. But it didn't happen and Will didn't need that to feel rejected and Byler was not shut down; so the Byler plot was kept to help Will, not to bring him down. And as I already said, it can only help him if it's romantically positive.

Will is the key. Things have to go right for him later on. Things he wants (a good life, his family, his friends, Mike's love) can't be out of reach.

I'm the first one to love good old symbolisms and all that stuff but I don't understand basing your Byler faith on this when the actual characterization and plot are literally supporting you. Byler is not just some random ship you have to dig in to find hints it's gonna happen; It's a semi-canon ship that is set up to be canon in the season centering the one half of the ship that has feelings for the other and it's right in front of you.

okay so if mileven was just a “teen couple going through a rough patch” story, sure, i’d roll my eyes at the “boy can’t communicate” thing but whatever, couples fight. but with them it’s not just one small thing - el lying to mike about basically everything in lenora, mike only saying “i love you” when she’s in danger, him acting like a total dick after she hits angela, el signing her last letter “from” instead of “love,” plus all the nonstop miscommunication. yeah, maybe you could say “they’ll work it out” if it stopped there.

but then the duffers were like, “hey, let’s make the gay kid who’s literally never been happy once in this whole show be in love with mike.” and suddenly it’s not just normal teen drama. it’s like: “oh mike and el are struggling... oh will loves mike... oh maybe will finally gets some happiness cause this straight couple is clearly falling apart.” and listen - you don’t throw a queer love triangle into a relationship this messy without making people think it’s gonna go somewhere.

like, the way they frame it - the love monologue cut with will, jonathan’s reaction shots, the byler parallels with the canon couples, putting mike and will literally in the middle of endgame pairs - that’s not an accident. it’s 100% on purpose. and it’s not just cruel to will, it makes mileven’s whole drama feel pointless. if mileven’s endgame, why write them as such a dysfunctional mess for multiple seasons? why show their emotional distance while making byler’s connection feel warmer and deeper?

if the answer all along was “nothing changes,” then all those choices were just bait for queer fans. like, you don’t use a queer kid’s feelings as seasoning for a toxic straight couple and then pretend it’s “realistic.” nah, that’s straight-up cruel.

we actually need byler to be canon because will byers cannot be the gay and already-tortured-enough character who helped promote the hetero couple.

will “i’m not gonna fall in love” byers

will “everybody thinks im a freak” byers

will “when you’re different, you feel like a mistake” byers

he cannot and will NOT be used to promote and strengthen mileven to be endgame. there is no way. idk what will happen to him but he will not be jeopardized to support the already popular hetero ship, not after everything he’s been through. his actor said something finally goes right for him in s5 and i must hope and assume that means his unrequited requited love for mike.

the fact that byler allegations started in s1 and 2 with people thinking MIKE was gay and WILL didn't requite his feelings, but then s3-4 does a 360 completely focused on will's feelings being unrequited really cements their relationship for me.
