Do the kids these days know that the traditional payment for "having your friends help you move" is "order everyone pizza after"?

Feed your friends. Feed your loved ones. Feed the people who help you. Feed your neighbors. Feed your community.

Seriously though, with a lot of people, especially friends, you can shamelessly and blatantly trade pizza / food for help and labor <3

It is also important to note that your friends will almost certainly help you move / drive you to the airport / anything else without a trade! If you can afford it then pizza/drinks/whatever is the traditional payment for moving house but if you can't, still ask your friends for help!

Especially if you're the kind of person who wants to help all your friends but won't accept help in return, you should start asking for help! It helps everyone else get more comfortable helping each other and accepting help, and it's the foundational part of building community!

Every time you go in a public place and something ISN’T disgusting it’s because somebody cleaned it. Every time you feel comfortable using a public bathroom or sitting at a restaurant table or setting something on a gas station counter or playing on a playground it’s because somebody cleaned it.

Thank you to everyone who cleans the world, especially those who are underpaid and under appreciated.

I’ve never gone through the trouble of picking up an instrument, and I’ve never been to close with anyone who had. But in college I did have an acquaintance who got pretty heavily into the antiguitar. He’d show up to house parties and keggers, he’d lie in wait like a contrarian crocodile until the usual peach-fuzz laden offender would start in on an amateur guitar rendition of wonderwall, and then my acquaintance, he’d whip out his antiguitar and start matching the other guy note for note, effortlessly and precisely counteracting the performance with an antiperformance, such that no sound was audible from either instrument. It was a sight to behold- my buddy strumming away in total silence with a shit-eating grin on his face, wonderwall guy strumming furiously with a vein throbbing in his temple and this unyielding hatred in his bulging, red-rimmed eyes. All in total silence, punctuated only by the occasional discordant squeal when wonderwall guy missed a note. Unfortunately he had to give it up in Junior year after school admin ordered his hands broken as part of an unrelated disciplinary process. But it’s also super easy to overplay a bit like that so, you know. Maybe for the best
