TOM: That makes no sense–
MATT: Shh!
Matt catches the scroll.
MATT: What is this thing?
EDD: You don’t remember? We got one just a little bit ago! They’re quest scrolls–from the guild, remember?
TOM: That shit? Really? Feels like forever ago we joined it.
EDD: Yeah, right? Years, at least!
MATT: But…. Didn’t we just get the confirmation scroll?
EDD: So you do remember!
MATT: Barely. What do we do with the scrolls?
EDD: Open ‘em and see what they want from us! What’s yours say?
Matt reads the scroll. Before Matt can speak, another scroll appears before Edd. Edd hushes Matt as he reads his own scroll, leading Matt to harumph.
MATT: I’m nobility, you know.
EDD: A noble pain in my ass, Matt.
MATT: How dare you–
EDD: Shh! Reading!
EDD: They’re questions from guild staff!
MATT: Guild staff? Wait, questions?
EDD: Yeah! The guild staff can see some of our adventures–magic, I think–and broadcasts ‘em to advertise our services! As a bonus feature, curious folk can pay to have questions and stuff sent in to us to get a firsthand account of what it’s like being adventurers!
TOM: Do we get anything from answerin’ these?
EDD: For every question fielded, we get compensated by the guild. It’s like answering a li’l mini quest!
TOM: Cool, we’ll have to do that when we’re not in danger of getting sold off.
MATT: We’re not, which means we can answer them now! …Uh, how do we do that?
EDD: Same way we’d complete a quest, I think? The guild can see our adventures, right? So we just act like someone real asked the question to us personally!
TOM: Talk to the air, you mean?
MATT, looking visibly excited: Sounds positively splendiferous!
TOM: That’s not a–
MATT: We have an audience now, yes? I’ll gladly tell them all about the star of this show–me!
[Note: To recap, this is a part of both the gil and the guild system. For every ask or “quest” answered, our boys get an amount of money proportional to the effort of the request. An ask answered without a picture is worth one copper; an ask answered with at least one image is a silver; a request taking at least three posts to complete is a gil (gold piece), and a major story beat (determined by the mod to be the end of the arc) is an appropriately large sum of gil. What does this all mean to the boys, you ask? Aside from being how they make their living and get by, you as the audience can also use the amount in the description of this blog to purchase special items, events, and nonsense to inflict on the boys. For now, this means magic anon events, which can be purchased using the gil whenever, so use it wisely! The more the anon changes the boys, the more it will cost.
One copper gets you a small event (like the boys have to wear a non-magic item) lasting 15 asks, one silver gets you a bigger event (the boys have some sort of effect on them) lasting 10, and one gil gets you a world (or universe)-changing event lasting 5 asks. 15 is the maximum amount of time any m!a will last, regardless of how much you guys use to purchase it. More of a certain resource can be used to extend an m!a, with the amount of asks increasing by 2 per coin used. As of right now, only one m!a may be active at one time. If more than one is sent in, I will use the first ask in my inbox.
