"Maurice~" Edel sang into the house, standing in the door way. He hadn't knocked this time-- either forgotten or assumed Mau wouldn't care at this point. "C'mere!" The witch stood with a grin on his face and a paper bag held in his arms.
Mau cocked an eyebrow and with an amused smile, made his way over to the witch who seemed rather enthusiastic about something, though what, the soldier could place at the moment. “Hello, Edel, you seem rather excited today.”
“Of course I’m excited,” he said, wondering why Mau wasn’t. “It’s your birthday! ...That you better not have forgotten about.. did you?” The witch squinted at him, then shook his head. No time for scolding. Time for gifts. He grabbed Mau’s hand, leading him through the door, then moved to dramatically showcase his present.
A small sapling sat right outside the door, sitting in a little pot tied with a bow. “Ta-dah! It’s an apple tree. Your backyard should be plenty big enough for it and I figured you and Lily would enjoy taking care of it. Plus she likes apples, so..” he trailed off, shifting the bag in his arms. “..Do you like it?”
