I live in Gotham city which is- well it’s interesting that’s for sure. Especially considering I am a meta human. (lycanthrope specifically if you were wondering)

Someone as intelligent as you should know that SCUBA is an acronym: Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus. But did you know TUBA is also an acronym? It stands for Terrible Underwater Breathing Apparatus!

Indeed I did know about the "Scuba" acronym but riddle me this! What are some other lesser known acronyms in the common American lexicon? One the average public are often unaware of but regularly use is "Laser" which in fact stands for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation or perhaps "Radar" which stands for RAdio Detection And Ranging. If that isn't enough for you, the food item often referred to as "Spam" is actually an abbreviation for Spiced Ham. Well done to anyone who knew all four (including Scuba).

Guys- I understand that Gotham is like- the crime capital- but it was advertised as walkable! I don’t care if I get mugged!I carry small amounts of cash anyway! Take my pitiful 5 bucks! I don’t care! BUT IF I SEE ONE MORE SIDEWALK BLOCKED BY SOME STUPID VILLIAN BULLSHIT! OR IF BATMAN DECIDES THAT THE SIDEWALK IS A PERFECT ROUTE TO CHASE A VILLIAN CAUSING ME TO TOSS MY FUCKIN GROCERIES TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE WAY ONE MORE TIME I SWEAR TO GOD!

Okay, first of all? ‘It was advertised as walkable’ is the funniest thing I’ve read all week.

Second: welcome to Gotham. You’re officially a local now that you’ve lost groceries to a vigilante chase scene.

Couple pieces of survival advice from someone who’s been doing this a while:

- Never assume a blocked sidewalk is temporary. Bring alternate routes.

- If you hear screaming and someone yelling “GET DOWN”, just do it first and ask questions later.

- Bodega owners know everything. Be nice to them.

- Avoid alleys unless you’re dramatically brooding.

- If a guy dressed like a riddle starts asking survey questions, leave.

- Invest in reusable grocery bags with shoulder straps. Trust me on this one.

I hope you don't mind I've been looking at your profile. All I wanna say is respect for freelancing in this city. Gotham somehow manages to have both impossible rent and at least three major explosions a month.

Hope things work out with the cute guy too, by the way. Gotham’s terrible for urban planning but surprisingly decent for romance.

Offering coffee to someone after they give you Gotham survival advice is probably the most civilized interaction I’ve had all month. And for the record, I never turn down a good black coffee. No sugar, no cream, just enough caffeine to survive whatever nonsense this city decides to do before midnight. You’d be surprised how many stakeouts run entirely on coffee and spite.

Also, ‘work is work’ is SUCH dangerous Gotham freelancer logic. That’s how you wake up one morning realizing you accidentally illustrated promotional material for a nightclub owned by a guy called The Penguin and now every payment to your account is mysteriously labeled ‘bird-related consulting’. Still though, respect. Freelancing here takes nerves of steel.

And your guy sounds adorable already. Funny people with encyclopedic trivia knowledge are undefeated. There’s something really attractive about somebody getting excited over random facts and immediately needing to tell you all about them. If he ever starts saying things like: “Oh this reminds me of a fact I heard…” Congrats. You’re already doomed. In a good way.

Good health insurance in Gotham is honestly less of a luxury and more of a survival skill. Right up there with ‘knowing CPR’ and ‘recognizing evacuation alarms’.

And you know what? Having someone you can actually talk to like that matters a lot more than people admit. Someone who can keep up with you mentally, someone who listens, someone who gets excited about the same weird little things you do… that’s rare. So yep, sounds like you found yourself a keeper.

And careful offering me coffee publicly like this. One of these days I might actually pay you a visit and collect on that offer. Though fair warning.. if I show up, there’s about a 60% chance it’s because I’m exhausted and desperately in need of the strongest black coffee you can legally serve.

And honestly, I appreciate the espresso offer. It’s nice knowing that somewhere in Gotham there’s a freelance artist, puzzle-book enthusiast, and self-proclaimed future victim of a trivia-loving boyfriend who’s willing to provide emergency caffeine support. That’s the kind of community spirit this city needs.

If I ever take you up on it, though, I expect at least one Sudoku puzzle while I drink it. I’ve spent enough time solving criminal masterminds’ riddles that I feel like I deserve to solve a normal puzzle for once.

Also, if this guy is as great as you keep making him sound, you should probably tell him that at some point. Life in Gotham has a way of reminding people that waiting forever is a terrible strategy.

See, now you’ve got me curious. You can’t just casually drop “I’m going to confess my feelings through a puzzle” and then walk away like that’s a normal sentence. That’s either gonna be the most charming thing I’ve ever heard or the beginning of a very specific supervillain origin story. No middle ground.

Though given everything you’ve told me so far, it sounds pretty on-brand for you. You’re an illustrator who loves puzzles, streams Sudoku for fun and apparently courts people through intellectual challenges. At a certain point you have to lean into your personal brand.

And weekly trivia nights? Yep, that’s how it starts. One minute you’re two people answering obscure questions about ancient history and weird animal facts. The next minute you’re arguing over which takeout place to order from while pretending you’re not basically dating already. Just promise me one thing about this confession puzzle: make sure he can actually solve it. I've seen enough riddles in Gotham to know that ‘ingenious’ and ‘completely incomprehensible’ are sometimes separated by a very thin line.

As for the Sudoku book, now that’s a tempting offer. Most people assume vigilante work is all action, but a shocking amount of it is waiting around on rooftops. A puzzle book and a coffee actually sounds like a pretty great evening.

You know what’s funny? The fact that you’re worried the puzzle won’t be challenging enough is actually a pretty good sign. Because from what you’ve described, I don’t think the point of the puzzle is whether he can solve it. The point is you made it for him. Trust me, those are two very different things.

If somebody I cared about handed me a puzzle they spent time designing themselves, I’d be paying attention to the effort, the thought and all the little details they put into it, not grading the difficulty level like it was an entrance exam.

Besides, if this guy’s really as smart as you keep insisting he is, he probably already knows something’s up. People aren’t nearly as subtle as they think they are.

And for the record, “he’s like twice as smart as I am” is exactly the kind of thing people say right before spending three paragraphs demonstrating they’re actually pretty clever themselves. You literally create puzzle books, Eden. I don’t think you’re giving yourself enough credit.

As for stakeouts, you’re not entirely wrong. There’s a surprising amount of sitting around quietly, drinking coffee and trying to stay awake. The movies never show the glamorous part where you’re on hour three of watching an empty warehouse wondering if you should’ve brought a second thermos. Though now I’m imagining some poor criminal looking up at a rooftop and finding a vigilante doing a Sudoku.

You know, the more you talk about this guy, the more convinced I am he’s already figured it out. Not because you’re bad at keeping secrets… well, actually, maybe a little because of that. But mostly because people tend to notice when someone lights up every time they talk about them. And trust me, you light up.

Every post about him is basically: “here’s this incredibly funny, smart, charming guy who I enjoy spending time with and definitely don’t have feelings for.” Sure, Eden. Totally convincing.

I don’t know if I’m sweet. I think you deserve the praise. You keep acting like you’re just some random guy with a puzzle hobby, and meanwhile you’re an artist, a puzzle creator, a streamer and apparently the kind of romantic who plans personalized puzzle confessions. That’s not ‘just some guy’ territory. That’s something else.

As for the rooftop Sudoku strategy, I actually think you’re onto something. Picture this: some criminal’s halfway through a crime. They glance up. There’s a vigilante sitting on a gargoyle with a cup of coffee, completely absorbed in a puzzle book. The vigilante slowly looks up. Makes eye contact. Takes a sip. Writes something down. Then goes back to the puzzle. At that point I’d be more nervous than if they immediately started running toward me. Because now I’d be wondering if I was the puzzle.

Okay, first of all, if he follows this blog then I have some groundbreaking news: your ‘secret’ crush may be the least secret crush in Gotham. You’re out here writing paragraphs about how funny he is, how smart he is, how much you enjoy spending time with him and how excited you are for trivia nights with him. At this point, the puzzle isn’t hiding the message. The puzzle is the message. And I think that’s kind of adorable.

Also, thank you for calling me sweet. I appreciate that more than you know. I think people sometimes forget how much a genuine compliment can brighten someone’s day. Even if I’m still convinced I’m just pointing out things that were already true about you, it’s nice to hear.

As for this guy, the thing that jumps out at me isn’t that you’re obvious. It’s that you sound happy. Every time you mention him, your entire tone changes. You sound excited. Comfortable. Like you’re having fun. That’s usually a pretty good sign.

Now, about the vigilante-with-a-puzzle-book thing… you looked at it from the criminal’s perspective, but imagine being a regular Gotham citizen. You’re walking home after work. It’s raining. Your bus was late. You look up and spot a vigilante sitting on a rooftop with a thermos and a Sudoku book. And suddenly that’s the most reassuring thing you’ve seen all day. Because if they’re calm enough to be doing puzzles, things probably aren’t that bad right now.

Oh yeah- no doubt- especially since I straight up confessed to moving to Gotham for this guy- he definitely knows- and this puzzle is definitely a labor of love rather than a true to form confession lol.

Okay, hold on. You moved to Gotham for this guy? And you’re still talking about whether he knows how you feel? Eden, if someone moved to an entirely different city for me, I’d consider that a fairly substantial clue. I think we’ve officially passed ‘confession’ and entered ‘historical documentation of an already established fact’.

At this point the puzzle feels less like a reveal and more like a really thoughtful love letter written in a language you both happen to speak: puzzles, trivia and shared interests. Which, honestly, is pretty romantic.

As for being raised with good values… I was lucky enough to have people in my life who taught me that strength and kindness aren’t opposites. The strongest people I’ve ever known made room for both. And for what it’s worth, I think your younger self would probably be pretty proud of the person you’ve become. You’ve built a life around things you love, you create things that make people happy, and judging by these posts, you care deeply about the people in your life. That’s not a bad legacy to carry around.

And yep, I stand by the rooftop theory. I think Gotham citizens would eventually get used to it. You’d hear conversations like:

You know, I think my favorite part of this whole thing is that somewhere along the way, your ‘confession puzzle’ quietly transformed into a ‘love letter puzzle’. That’s a very different energy. One is saying, “I have something important to tell you.” The other is saying, “I already know how I feel, and I want you to know just how much you mean to me.” And honestly, the second one is making me root for you even harder. As for kindness, I think you’re onto something there. People often talk about kindness like it’s soft, but most of the time it’s actually incredibly difficult. I think that’s what stands out to me most, honestly. Whenever you talk about this guy, it’s never just about having a crush on him. It’s about how much you admire him, respect him, and enjoy being around him. That’s a pretty rare thing to find.

You know, I think that’s one of the reasons kindness matters so much. It doesn’t require money, status, talent or anything special. Anybody can choose to be a little kinder than they were yesterday. That doesn’t make it easy, of course, but it makes it accessible.

You get knocked down a few times, you make mistakes, things don’t go according to plan and eventually you realize the important part is getting back up and trying again. Ya know- now that you mention it Trivia Night Nerd said nothing about my accent so far suprisngly,and I know for sure I’ve had some accent slips. So either he can’t hear it,he’s been ignoring it, or he hasen’t noticed. Which I would deem impossible cuz last week it got so thick that the trivia night host looked at me weird lol. My bet would be on him just kinda ignoring it for whatever reason, which I would deem as a hilarious feat in my book lol.

Couple pieces of survival advice from someone who’s been doing this a while:

- Never assume a blocked sidewalk is temporary. Bring alternate routes.

- If you hear screaming and someone yelling “GET DOWN”, just do it first and ask questions later.

- Bodega owners know everything. Be nice to them.

- Avoid alleys unless you’re dramatically brooding.

- If a guy dressed like a riddle starts asking survey questions, leave.

- Invest in reusable grocery bags with shoulder straps. Trust me on this one.

Offering coffee to someone after they give you Gotham survival advice is probably the most civilized interaction I’ve had all month. And for the record, I never turn down a good black coffee. No sugar, no cream, just enough caffeine to survive whatever nonsense this city decides to do before midnight. You’d be surprised how many stakeouts run entirely on coffee and spite.

Also, ‘work is work’ is SUCH dangerous Gotham freelancer logic. That’s how you wake up one morning realizing you accidentally illustrated promotional material for a nightclub owned by a guy called The Penguin and now every payment to your account is mysteriously labeled ‘bird-related consulting’. Still though, respect. Freelancing here takes nerves of steel.

- Never assume a blocked sidewalk is temporary. Bring alternate routes.

Couple pieces of survival advice from someone who’s been doing this a while:

- Never assume a blocked sidewalk is temporary. Bring alternate routes.

Offering coffee to someone after they give you Gotham survival advice is probably the most civilized interaction I’ve had all month. And for the record, I never turn down a good black coffee. No sugar, no cream, just enough caffeine to survive whatever nonsense this city decides to do before midnight. You’d be surprised how many stakeouts run entirely on coffee and spite.

As for kindness, I think you’re onto something there. People often talk about kindness like it’s soft, but most of the time it’s actually incredibly difficult. It’s easy to be kind when everything is going well. It’s much harder to keep choosing kindness when you’re tired, stressed, hurt or frustrated. That’s where the real strength comes in.

And from everything you’ve shared, it sounds like you’ve worked very hard to become the person you wanted to be. So yep, I absolutely think your younger self would be proud. Not because everything turned out perfectly, but because you kept growing. That’s something worth celebrating.

And I have to admit, hearing that the thought of me keeping watch puts you at ease is surprisingly nice to hear. Sometimes people think being a vigilante is all about fighting villains and dramatic rooftop entrances. But if someone’s able to walk home feeling a little safer, or sleep a little easieror just look up at the skyline and think, “Yeah, someone’s got this covered”… that’s the part that matters.

I agree, it's not often you find someone you just, click with to the point where you're willing to move your life for someone who you admire and respect.

And I 100% agree, it's so hard to be nice when you've had a good day, that's what makes it so welcome when you experience it! It means that person is putting in effort to make your day!

I think that’s what stands out to me most, honestly. Whenever you talk about this guy, it’s never just about having a crush on him. It’s about how much you admire him, respect him, and enjoy being around him. That’s a pretty rare thing to find.

And I completely agree about kindness. People remember kindness far longer than they remember most other things. A small act can completely change someone’s day, even if the person doing it never realizes it.

Also, I gotta say, I really like your outlook on life. You’ve clearly worked hard to become the person you are, but you still choose to be kind, creative, and hopeful. That’s something worth being proud of.

You know, I think that’s one of the reasons kindness matters so much. It doesn’t require money, status, talent or anything special. Anybody can choose to be a little kinder than they were yesterday. That doesn’t make it easy, of course, but it makes it accessible.

And thank you for saying that. Genuinely. I don’t always know what to do with compliments, but that was a very kind thing to say. I think perseverance’s something most people learn the hard way. You get knocked down a few times, you make mistakes, things don’t go according to plan and eventually you realize the important part is getting back up and trying again. From what you’ve shared, I think you understand that pretty well yourself.

Eden, one of the things I've enjoyed most about these conversations is you're the same person every time: thoughtful, earnest and quick to see the good in other people. That’s a quality worth holding onto.

And you’d be right- growing up in yeehaw mapleville while being both queer and neurodiverse,perseverance was most definitely a skill I had to master.

‘Yeehaw Mapleville’ tells me absolutely everything I need to know without telling me anything at all. The fact you went through those challenges and still came out determined to be kind says a lot about your character.

Haha! Well it’s really Mapleville tn, real small town, but I call it ‘yeehaw’ cuz it’s about as southern as hot cornbread and cold sweet tea. (Again- my southern is showin sweet Jesus-)
