Hi! I’m edit-axolotl, but I usually go by Skye. Anything axolotl related is fine too. I go by they/them or she/her (I prefer they tho).

I am an adult, but all the stuff I draw is sfw. I do curse, so be aware of that.

I draw stuff. Usually it’s deltarune fanart or undertale multiverse fanart. I usually just draw whatever I feel like. Theres not really a set thing.

I’m always open to asks. There’s no guarantee I answer everything, however. I’m open to drawing requests too, but they’re just little sketches usually.

But I’m open to all asks, I like to answer them. They’re fun.

I just finished The Mermaid Mask. It was very good I liked it a lot.

do you have a meta list of all potential roaring knight identity theories (including the less common ones like the knight just being the concept of itself etc)

I dont have a list of "this is every single possible candidate for the roaring knight ever" for two reasons. one is that many dess knight theories can boil down to "dess is the knight bc xyz happened to her", with xyz ranging from she's just normal dess in a suit of armor to homestuck levels of timeline fuckery. second reason is, I wasnt in the fandom for ch 1 days and early ch 2, so idk what was flying around then. I only know from what ive seen on YouTube and Tumblr, so I dont have the widest source of knowledge either.

that being said, ill try to give the most comprehensive list I can with what I've seen. I just can't guarantee it's literally everything. some of this might be stuff I vaguely remember seeing but my memory is not to be trusted most of the time lol.

if you wanna know more about specific candidates, you can ask and ill do my best to explain.

the current frontrunner theories I've seen are: rudy, carol, kriselle amalgam, or dess (in some variation at least, ill explain more lower down). also papyrus is there too.

theories ive seen that are almost definitely disproven are: oberon smog (Gerson), kris (tho they obviously are working with it), asgore.

theories ive seen that aren't outright disproven, but aren't super widespread (and probably not super likely imo): eram, gaster, alvin, pizzapants, noelle, Asriel, mike, friend (especially given the new lore drop).

theories that the knight isn't a person but rather a concept (these are really cool imo I wish they were more popular): the knight is the memory of dess in hometown's mind manifested, the knight is fear manifested (similar to the titan, hence why it looks similar), the knight is a manifestation of the loss/guilt left behind by dess, the knight is a manifestation of darkness itself, the knight is a manifestation of the desire for dess to come back, the knight is a manifestation of the prophecy itself, the knight is specifically kris' guilt about what happened to dess, the knight exists simply to ensure the prophecy is fulfilled and doesn't exist outside that purpose.

ive also seen the knight is an amalgamate. this is different from kriselle amalgam, bc i dont think it was specified as to what it was an amalgamate of, just that it was one (and it was before ch 5 came out). kinda like how the memory heads weren't said to be a specific monster but were still amalgamates.

also the knight just being the knight, as in it has no secret identity or anything and it just exists is something ive seen thrown around. not super common but still interesting.

also I think ive seen it mentioned that the knight could be the angel? idk I might be making that one up tbh, but I feel like I saw that when looking at stuff from the ch 1 era. idr.

going back to the dess possibilities thing rq, there's not really a feasible way for me to say all the theories people have for the knight being dess. like sure, dess-knight at is core is "dess is the knight", but the how as to how dess became the knight is the part that has so much variation. I think ive said this before, but we have so little information to work with on how the knight was made, that anything we say can sound plausible. so its really hard to write every variation of dess knight out just bc she's such a popular candidate, and everyone who believes it has a different, feasible reason for how it happened.

that being said, ill try to list out all the ones ive seen, plus ones I think could also work in my own opinion.

the possible variations of dess knight ive seen are: dess and kris' original soul fused together to make the knight, the knight was created by trying to bring back a dead dess but it went wrong, friend is possessing dess and that created the knight, a dark fountain was created inside dess and made the knight, dess clipped out of bounds at the lake and became the knight, gaster turned her into the knight, the knight is dess' reanimated body using the power of darkness, the knight is a creature meant to look like dess but isn't actually her, the knight is dess fused with pure darkness, dess was hit by asgore's car and that made the knight (yes it was a theory before it became a meme), the knight is dess' dust that got turned into a fucked up darkner, the knight is just dess in a suit of armor and she's completely normal.

yeah that's all I can think of. I really have no idea where to go to research this, so I had to pull from my own shitty memory/out my ass to get this list. sorry if I missed some. and if you wanna know more about any of them, feel free to ask.

eDit: some new additions I’ve found:

Echo knight theory, where the knight is a manifestation of the lost dream of dess being found. So the knight is essentially a shadow crystal, but it is given form and has similarities to dess bc it is made of the lost dreams of the entire town instead of a single person.

Tulpa knight theory, the theory that the knight is a titan. In this reading, the knight is the demon that kris and Catti summoned, thus being a titan kris created (since catti ran away before they finished the summoning), and therefore explaining why their mannerisms and dark worlds are so similar.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot recently: why is everyone convinced Susie will completely cut off kris/be unwilling to forgive kris when the conspiracy is inevitably revealed?

Will she be hurt? Yeah. Will she be angry? Yes. But i dont think she’ll completely abandon them. That’s not like her.

Like, look at how she reacts to ralsei. When he spends so long lying about how much he knows of the prophecy, when he acts weird thru all of chapter 4, and when it’s finally revealed he’s hiding stuff…

She gets mad. She’s hurt. Mostly she wants to know why. But when ralsei explains himself? She accepts it, and allows him to keep hiding things. Because she reached an understanding with him.

In chapter 5, when ralsei shows his fire magic, he’s worried Susie will get mad. But she doesn’t. She’s just glad he eventually told her about it.

So please. Tell me why it’s such a popular concept that Susie will flip on kris and not forgive them for lying?

It’s a bigger issue yes, your friend being possessed for most of the time you’ve known them is a big issue, on top of them working with your enemy. But it’s not like she’d refuse to hear kris out. Hell, she tries talking to the fucking knight during its fight. She yaps to them for most of the fight before finally giving up. She’s open to hearing out the other side.

Especially if it’s kris. Ch 5 has specific references for how she trusts kris, most interesting being this one: If you wait out aqua and Seth’s first glasses attack she’ll go along with it saying “your strat sucks kris. But I trust you”.

“Your strat sucks kris. But I trust you”, you say? Maybe, just maybe, this also relates to whatever kris is doing with their plan with the knight. She doesn’t agree, she thinks it sucks, but she still trusts them.

When the conspiracy is revealed, she is going to be upset. She is going to be angry. She is going to be hurt. But she’s also going to be willing to hear kris out.

She has proven time and again she’s willing to give people a second chance (probably bc she wasn’t given those chances herself). So why are people so convinced that she won’t extend that same kindness to Kris, the person she is by far the closest to?

Analyzing the Likelihood of each Knight Candidate Based on the Logic of the Knight

ok so. I made 2 posts. one detailing the logic of how the knight works in the dark world. the second detailing its logic in the dark world/in general

im now going to analyze the likelihood of each knight candidate (carol, Rudy, kriselle amalgam, and dess) based on those two posts.

im going to use the concepts (ie: lightner, amalgam, straight up just dess) of those 4 candidates to which reading of the knight is the most likely, in my opinion.

THIS IS A DESS KNIGHT POST AT THE END OF THE DAY. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

so. let me get this out of the way . the knight is not Rudy or carol. the knight came be any lightner, not in a traditional sense.

the knight so fundamentally breaks the logic behind a lightner going into a dark world. ligtners have slight appearance changes. new outfits, and get magic. the knight has a drastically different appearance, its body is constantly shifting forms, its incredibly powerful.

not to mention the knight doesn't even change between the light and dark worlds anyways.

there is no way the knight can be Rudy or carol without it breaking literally every single rule that has already been established for how lightners in dark worlds work with no precedence or buildup or any indication that's the case.

its much more likely the knight is something other than a lightner or darkner in the traditional sense.

now. kriselle amalgam is a divisive theory, and I dont think this specific iteration of the idea is possible. but I believe the logic of it follows.

let me explain.

kriselle amalgam is the theory that kris and Noelle on the weird route end up drowning in the lake and fusing to become the knight. they then pull some jack noir bullshit and end up in all timelines in a way that's a bit too convoluted for the point I'm trying to make.

the possibility of the knight being an amalgamate is highly likely, in my opinion. it would explain why its body is able to change shape, and why it seems so much more unstable compared to the titan, for example. it explains why the knight is able to go to the light world despite being a darkner of some sort. so many of the knights attributes could be a result of it being some combination of a lightner and darkness.

hence why is said the concept of kriselle amalgam is possible. I dont think its those two in particular, as the mechanics of how the knight appears without doing their weird route doesn't make sense, but the concept of "the knight is an amalgamation of 2 different things" does make sense to me.

now to bring this all to dess. in my mind, dess is the most likely candidate, but specifically dess being an amalgamation of something. whether its darkness, a titan, kris soul, you name it. she isn't herself as in if the knight goes in the light world, out comes December fucking holiday in the flesh. but the knight isn't just some avatar of darkness the same way the titan is.

we dont have enough information to know for sure what exactly happened to make dess into the knight. we could spin it a million different ways and come out with something probable every single time. we dont have enough evidence to prove or disprove any narrative relating to dess rn.

however, I do think starting from the basis of "the knight is an amalgamate of dess and something" is the best starting place we have. it explains why the knight seems to follow its own logic, and would explain why the knight is so reminiscent of the amalgamates in undertale. it also takes all the existing dess knight evidence, and explains how the knight can be dess without it being regular old lightner dess.

The Logic of the Knight in the Dark World

kinda a part 2 to my last post, but you don't need to read that one to understand this one. its here if you wanna read it tho.

I'm going over the logic of how the knight operates in both the light and dark worlds. basically the rules it follows, since it kinda follows its own rules. this post is about its general logic, as well as how it works in the dark world

I think the knight might be a bit physically unstable, in the same way the amalgamates in undertale are.

let me explain.

the knight is seen shapeshifting constantly. the knight from we usually see them in is probably their natural form (tho I have seen it argued that it could instead be the ball form), and we see them shift into the ball form, and the bird. their visor moves around their head constantly, acting as both their moth and eyes. when they roar, they're chest and face split open. the roar they do at the start of their battle looks almost like something trying to rise out of tar, the way the string of black run across their mouth as they open it. they're also seen crying or drooling or dripping at the very beginning of their encounter too. the knight is also always followed by this aura or distortion. basically, their physical form is an ever-shifting mess.

it also looks visually similar to the titan and titan spawn. they're all back and white, and they get staticy whenever they are hit. the knight does seem to get significantly more staticy tho, as its form destabilizes more than the titan's does at the end of its fight.

so what am I saying? I think the knight is, physically at least, in some kind of in-between state. it has properties similar to the titan, in that it looks like the titan and responds the same way when hit. but its a much more unstable version of the titan, as its form constantly shifts and there's a distortion following it around.

what does this mean? I have no fucking clue. the only thing I can think of as a plausible explanation is that the knight is some kind of fusion or something.

no, I don't believe in the kriselle amalgam knight theory to be true. but I think the knight might follow a similar type of logic, and that's why its so unstable. I've said before I'm a dess-knighter, so maybe dess got corrupted by darkness or fused with darkness or something, and that's how she became the knight?

its kind of impossible to say. we just dont know enough about how the knight was made to be able to say anything definitively. literally any idea we could come up with can be plausible if we stretch it enough. we just dont have enough information to say for sure rn.

the only thing I can say for sure is I think the knight is in some sort of in between state of being a titan an being a lightner. they're not a regular darker by any means, and that's why they behave so differently. they're some third category of thing we have yet to see

to add on to that, they're able to ignore stats for some reason? like, flowery's fake stats they're able to flat out ignore.

side note: I dont think they're actually changing the amount of damage flowery is doing to them, I think they're calling his bluff. like, if someone pulls out gun in rock paper scissors, if you accept it as happening it counts as a loss. you allow the other person to insert something outside of the rules that allows them to win. but if you call out the other player and say that there's no gun in rock paper scissors, the gun has no effect. you dont allow. it to work because you dont allow it to defy the rules of the game. I think the knight slashing the numbers is basically a shorthand for calling out flowerys fake stats following this same kind of logic

so for some reason, the knight can call out flowery's bluff. his fake stats are acknowledged by ralsei, for example, but its not like ralsei can outright ignore the damage flowery deals when fighting him. unless he can and just chooses not to. i dont wanna think about that tho. the knight however, can and does.

so the knight can tell when stats are being faked, and is able to ignore that fake stat. whether its a skill unique to the knight or not is hard to say. but its the only one we see actively ignoring them at least.

the knight also has really high defense when fighting it. I dont think this is manipulating/ignoring stats tho as much as it is just having a high defense stat in general. it's just something interesting at least.

they are the only one who can swoon the party. I have. no idea what to say to that except. they're fucking strong. like, stronger than the titan, cause the titan doesn't swoon the party. idk what to do with this information than say "well, more evidence the knights some weird third thing"

so what do we know of the knight? like I outlined earlier, the knight seems the be physically unstable, like how the amalgamates were in undertale. its similar to the titan, but a more unstable version, like its some kind of combination of a titan-like entity and something else. it knows of flowery's fake stats, and its able to call him out on them by straight up ignoring them. we dont know if its the only one able to do this, but its the only one willing to. it is strong enough to swoon the party, seemingly stronger than the titan bc of this. and obviously it has sword and star magic like we see it use constantly

I think the only conclusion I can really draw from this is that the knight doesn't fit cleanly into an established category. they're not a regular darker bc they can go to the light work (see part 1 for more info), they're not exactly a titan bc they're both stronger than one but at the same time are less physically stable. they're certainly not a lightner in the traditional sense, because their logic breaks every single example of a lightner going into a dark world that we have.

they're some weird, fucked up combination of the three. one that we can't fully know the how or why behind them until after we know more about their origin. which isn't going to happen for awhile, at least...
