“Wanna trade? Twenty-four high schoolers for twenty-four kindergartners?”
“Uh, no way. That sounds like the most unfair trade.”
“They’re making a fuss. They’re not the only people in this cafe,” Ollie said as they raised an eyebrow. “You’re their mother?”
“Well, you could have asked them nicely. They do listen to reason, you know.” The redhead dug around in her purse, trying to find tissues to wipe the children’s faces with. She looked up momentarily at their question. “Do I look old enough to be their mom? Never mind, don’t answer that.”
“You’re enthusiastic, that’s always a plus. And anyway, that whole freestyle thing is much better for everywhere except the stage. It’s why I avoid all clubs— The thought of having to dance with no control is terrifying.”
“Thanks, I’m glad you’re giving me a few points. That’s true, I can’t imagine you pulling out your ballerina moves at a club though it’d be very cool. When did you start dancing, by the way?”
“Yeah of course, dinner would be good.” Charlie nodded, smiling at the red head. “So how’s life in Edythe’s world been? Anything exciting?” He asked out of curiosity, wondering why she’d invited him over anyways. Maybe she had some news, or maybe she missed him… but Charlie still wasn’t used to the latter.
“Excellent. It’s a plan then.” Edythe told him, swirling around the wine in her glass. “Edythe’s world has been pretty boring lately. Well, boring is probably a bad word for it. It’s been normal, work and more work.” She loved her job and she really couldn’t see herself doing anything else but it was tiring sometimes.
“No, it’s okay. You’re already helping me – if you start spoiling me I might end up forcing you to carry me home.”
“Fine, if you’re sure. But tell me about your trip, how’d it go?”
“Oh, that sounds great. It also sounds like you have amazing taste. Your living room must look brilliant.”
“Thank you. It has a lot to do with free time and my love of pinterest.”
“You’re my new coffee buddy, it’s official. There’s a great place right down the street…it’s kind of like a coffee buffet…every flavor combination you can think of.”
“A coffee bar? Does that really exist? You’re literally my favorite person right now.”
“Hey, c’mon..You’re not going to bore me by telling me what’s wrong, Ede, you’re my friend. If something’s wrong, I obviously want to try and help.”
“There’s nothing you can do to help. Or that anyone can do to help. When I went on vacation I took a detour to visit my brother in Madrid and he told me that my mother passed away. She passed away months ago and I didn’t even know. I didn’t even care to know. I’m the worst person.”
“I.. work there too?” Temple offers, like they question themselves but they do work at Munchers too, albeit not that much, and they figured they needed to branch out more. Maybe find a bar, they were good with bars. “Pretty much everyone,” Temple says quickly, filling up their glass again.
“Right.” She said, slightly embarassed by the fact that she hadn’t remembered that. “It’s hard not to in Lanford.” The redhead offered, taking another long drink from her glass.
“Eh, that’s older brother’s for you. It really is like the worst double sided sword ever. And hangovers only get worse as you get older which sucks.”
“I guess I wouldn’t know really. It is, plus it’s so much easier for you to get drunk as you get older which is absolutely awful.”

Edythe: so its not your dog?
“You would? Well maybe we should just drive to Mexico instead. Get one hundred percent authentic Mexican food.”
“We’d need to stop by and pick up my passport but I’m game.”
