Opening up the takeaway bag, he handed over her burger before taking his and unraveled the wrapping; Noah was extremely hungry since the forgetting of eating in the right time, only falling asleep due to exhaustion when he gets home. “Yeah? Well, its nice to feel like you don’t represent anything sometimes but yourself.” He explained before taking a huge bite from the burger, chewing with his mouth full. At the corner of his eyes, he saw a familiar person who he somehow remembers regarding Effie, and so he nudged her with his elbow, “If I am not mistaken… that’s the Northside guy who’s really into you, right? I wonder how he deals with it if I taunt him…” He jokingly said, making fun of the guy, before turning his head to the brunette with narrowed eyes giving her a questioning look.

Effie gratefully took her burger and unwrapped it in a quick motion. She took an unceremonious bite and didn’t wait to swallow before talking. “I’m always myself, and my ass is always a Serpent. They’re just one in the same.” She said before her eyes tracked to where he was indicating. Unfortunately, the face was all too familiar. “He’s a total prick. What did you have in mind?”

“Hey, anyone getting me free fries is alright by me.” Effie said, waving her hand to Pop. The man was familiar enough with her to know exactly what she wanted.  “But, you know, just between us, your dad kind of sucks.”

          “Well, there’s racism, and then there’s genocide and mass murder. It’s kind of next level racism, really.” Effie shrugged. "I think everyone says that now, but seeing as no one said it then, I always kind of find it hard to believe.”

“Well, I’m always game for the drama.” She considered the GoFundMe idea momentarily. It wasn’t a horrible idea. Effie liked the River Spot, but it did rain. Inside alternatives were always  bonus. Plus, it had always been an excellent place to crash when family became unbearable. “I’ve always hated that saying. The enemy of my enemy is still probably my enemy if they don’t have my interest at heart.”

“How exactly did he get his head cut off? Was it by tyrants?” She asked, looking up to the statue herself and then at the girl before her. “I think I agree with you though. This guy’s kinda always given me the creeps. Glad that someone took the daring plunge to get rid of his head at least.” She admitted, “I couldn’t agree more. Definitely a fitting tribute.” Rephrasing Effie’s statement previously.

“More like CEO’s looking to stir up a bit of conflict with the lessers of society. I.E. The Serpents. ”Effie said, not taking her eyes off the statue as she spoke. Everyone on the Southside knew the Coopers, whether it be by association of Jughead or because of the articles in the paper that Alice wrote. Effie didn’t really know Polly directly, but with all the gossip about Jason, Effie felt a bit bad for the girl. “I think you’ve missed a lot. I’m Effie, by the way.”

“We’re more likely to get Southside High back,” Toni shrugged off. “Lucky for us she’ll be mayor for the unfortunate foreseeable future. Doesn’t mean we can’t run a little Impeach Lodge gang.”

“I think we’re more likely to invent time travel.” She scoffed. “I do have a button maker., some poster boards, and a passion for justice. I’m sure the rest of the Southside would have our backs, but... they’re not the ones we need to convince.”

“Couldn’t agree with you more. Now it’s a better representation of a hero as to the path that Riverdale is now taking.” Noah stated, squinting upwards to the ruined statue of General Pickens, leaning his back against its platform with folded arms before walking over to the brunette. “Come on though, I think I’m going to go full on serpent if we don’t eat this Pop’s take out soon. People like him don’t deserve our time.” He glanced at the statue once more with a frown before walking in a direction to a more public area of town, taking a seat at an empty bench. “Screw me for this, but I think I made the right choice not wearing the serpent jacket today. Less judging eyes are glancing.”

“You don’t have to tell me twice to eat.” Effie said, taking a seat next to her fellow serpent. Plus, she’d already begun to regret the conversation about Pickens. It just drudged up some ancient grudges against her forgotten half of the family. Thankfully, Noah gave her something else to focus on. “Yeah, but a snake’s more vulnerable when they’ve shed their skin. I think you should’ve worn it. Even if these ass wipes decided to give you the mean mug. I mean, it’s not like I can’t return the favor.”

              “  i can’t say that i know the history  –  ”   though the more time she spends in riverdale,  the more rosa is convinced perhaps she should  …  read up  on it.  seems the town was quite busy,  compared to how small it was.   “  —  he looks fairly ugly,  can’t imagine how worse it’d look like with a head.   ”  

        “As with, apparently, all of the town with pep. Pickens’ had a horrible dark side. He basically murdered all the natives to make room for the colonizers to take over the land.” Effie said point blank. There was no point in trying to sugar coat the atrocity, even if he had been her some years great grandfather. “He looks even extra douchey with the head. I think it’s the nose.”

“I wouldn’t call it conning so much as begging in a manner than still makes me seem cool and like I could afford to buy it if I wanted.” Her shrug was small, but not sad. When you were raised on a tight budget you stopped being disappointed in the little things like not being able to afford an extra treat. “But also there was a mention of fries.”

I bet your team would agree. I’ll have to think on that. You know, I’ll have plenty of time not planning a pointless party that nobody genuinely wants to go to.”
