I’ve been on Tumblr long enough that I’m like 90 percent sure there are people still following me from the 2013-2014 boom days who’ve just changed their icons and their blog focus and their url and now I only have the general sensation that I know them for? reasons??? but no idea why
it is Disconcerting
And it won’t be the last time. Be strong, like this queen of a cat. 👑✨

When we talk about being fat-positive and we say, “weight is not an indication of health,” I will reblog it. But I want us to also say, “health is not an indication of value.”
I could be at any weight and I will never be healthy, because I am chronically ill. Someone might be chronically ill and fat, or they might be chronically ill and not fat, and it really doesn’t matter.
When you make it about health, you’re saying health is the pinnacle of human achievement, and you’re shitting on those of us for whom health will always be a pipe dream.
Oh Oh
I wonder when exactly it was that Star Trek stopped being perceived as light, fluffy, not-really-legitimate sci fi that ~housewives~ liked and started being seen as serious nerd business that girls had to keep their gross cooties off.
Also when did the Beatles start to be remembered as rock legends rather than a silly boy band teenaged girls liked?
When men decided they liked them.
this is seriously exactly how it happened. Women were actually the first rock and roll ‘critics’ because they would write in to women’s papers and magazines to share and discuss what their kids were listening to when men still thought it was trashy teeny bopper music. once it became a lucrative, mainstream genre men shoved women out of the space. Men also tend to be gatekeepers once they move into formerly female spaces - early trek fandom was incredibly open and inclusive; women would set up fan get togethers in their own houses to discuss the show or invite the actors to visit before conventions became a thing, and then were huge in organizing the first conventions - but now the stereotype of a trekkie is a nerdy white dude who scoffs derisively at casual fans and newbies with his encyclopedic and pedantic knowledge of trek
I propose we call this “mentrification”
YES
Mentrification. Yes.
ICONIC
In The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen embarks on a hero's journey armed only with her bow, her arrow and her wits... But in the real world, the character Katniss Everdeen faces an even greater challenge: Proving that pop culture will embrace a heroine capable of holding her own with the big boys.
TBT before Katniss led the first Hunger Games movie to more than $694 million gross worldwide. A few bits from this thoughtful piece from 2012:
Granted, Katniss Everdeen isn’t a traditional superhero — she possesses no special power and didn’t come from a comic book — but her success could pave the way for those that are. Provided the film remains as true to the book as early clips and filmmaker comments have suggested, the movie could prove revolutionary for portraying a true female hero who is emotionally and physically strong, and isn’t romantically involved with a male hero counterpart.
In a prescient moment that probably got her the part, Lawrence told the movie’s director, Gary Ross, during her audition, “Please remember that after Katniss shoots a bow and kills someone, her face cannot be badass.” She added in an interview with Vanity Fair, “She’s a hunter but not a killer.”
Throughout the book series, Katniss exemplifies what sociologist Kathryn Gilpatric calls a “true action heroine” — a rare sort of character in Gilpatric’s studies. In essence, she’s not a heroine because she fights next to a male hero — in fact she feels compelled to protect the boy Tribute from her District, Peeta (played by Josh Hutcherson in the film). Her brain is as sharp as the arrows in her quiver — she outsmarts the Gamemakers more than once — and her heroism isn’t necessarily something that’s played up as sexy.
And arguably, now more than ever, Katniss is still the heroine the world needs right now. 🔥

cat hate is just so…….. embarrassing
people who hate cats for being “cold” or “mean” never learned emotional intelligence or depth and think that love is only expressed by being submissive and unconditionally obedient
@yall dog obsessed bitches
this is part of why it’s “weird” for a man to have cats or even like cats. and also why cats are feminized and seen as catty no matter what they do. like humans will project onto the cat based on harmful stereotypes they’ve internalized about women and femininity. one time my cousin was like, “ooooh look how she [my grey cat] jumped in that chair she’s like, “i don’t care what you say”. “ and that was 100% not what was happening. the cat likes the chair. stop it.
Neat shadows
oh!!!1
I like how the shadows move like things do when you’re watching them go by while you’re on the train. That’s neat as fuck.
I just learned that some websites use cookies to adjust prices. That is, if you visit a certain website a lot the price will increase.
You can tell if that’s the case by checking the same web page on a different browser if you have a different number of stored cookies for that site. I checked something on Chegg and it was $14.95 on Chrome, $19.95 on Firefox, and $16.95 on Safari.
The fix? Clear your cookies for that website.
Reblog, save a wallet.
Plane tickets almost always do this!
PLANE TICKETS DO THIS ALL THE DAMN TIME
When you’re looking for plane tickets and waiting for prices to drop, ALWAYS clear your cookies beforehand and switch between browsers. A friend of mine was looking for a flight and getting prices that were the CHEAPEST at $800-1000, I sent her a link for a round trip that was like $495, and it read as $900 on her computer because she had been hounding the airline site.
alternatively: avoid all this headache by using incognito when shopping for plane tickets, text books, etc
Hotel rooms are notorious for this, as well. Just like, go on incognito mode to look at these sites, saves u a lot of time & hassle.
Bruh I ain’t never know dis thank you man
Plane tickets are also much more expensive if you look from your smartphone! I think this applies to a lot of other stuff too. So always use your computer to check for prices, not smartphone! Laptop is also more expensive than on computer!
Hey why is this a thing
BECAUSE CAPITALISM.
