the valkyrie plot makes me so fucking furious and i'm here to talk about why.

first of all, gwyn and emerie are literally just there for nesta to avoid her fucking problems. they're there to blindly support nesta and enable her avoidance of any kind of conversation with feyre about the abuse she put her through. they coddle her and treat her as a victim and it's infuriating when all it does is enforce her idea that she's the wronged party and that her pity parties are valid. i wouldn't give a shit about this if nesta had actually talked through what she did to feyre with feyre. if she had just acknowledged what she had done to her and waited for feyre to decide if she wants her around i wouldn't be so angry. but no, instead we get the girlboss dream team that makes me want to break shit.

second, the fact that they just decided to revive the valkyrie rubs me the wrong way. it feels like they're taking something that doesn't belong to them just cause they find it interesting.

third, there is no fucking way they complete the bloodrite. i'm all for strong female characters, but the whole point of the bloodrite is that it's extremely difficult. sjm did the same thing with the mating bond. she claims these things are impossibly rare and yet everyone and their mother seem to have mates. the bloodrite is supposed to be so difficult that there's basically almost no carynthians (i may be wrong but pre gwyn and emerie i'm pretty sure it was just the bat boys). they have been training for six months max. and you're telling me that what? through the power of vaginas and friendship they beat out all of the illyrians who have trained their entire lives for this? i'm all for strong female characters, but they have to make fucking sense. example: aelin absolutely could've gotten carynthian because she's been a trained fighter her whole life. this whole plot line was stupid and made zero sense in the world sjm set up.

overall, it's a joke of a plotline in a book that should've been about nesta doing a fuckload of self reflection and realizing she needs to adress her trauma and the harm she caused lashing out at feyre because of it but instead was about literally none of that and instead had her realizing she loved the girl she mentally tortured for six fucking years all along.

fuck nesta, fuck the valkyrie plot, and fuck a court of silver flames.

I think it's time y'all stopped lying about "elain doesn't fit in the night court" because that is just not true. She doesn't fit in the Court of Nightmares, which is just one part of the night court. CoN is literally written to be a place full of "wicked" and "cruel" people, none of the IC members fit there or even want to be there. They should leave the night court too? I will never, ever understand this fandom’s obsession, true OBSESSION, with comparing trauma–especially women’s trauma–and somehow making this trauma more important or severe than that trauma.

How do you decide? Who decides?

It is ALL trauma. All of it. Nesta did not suffer more than Feyre–she suffered differently. Elain did not suffer less than Gwyn, she suffered differently.

No, Nesta was not ‘more’ or ‘less’ abused than Feyre. She was abused differently. Yes, she had a bad mother and a terrible grandmother. But why is that more traumatic than Feyre’s utter neglect by her parents? So much so that none of them knew that she illiterate? Elain was abused as well, but it was more emotional in nature–yes, maybe she didn’t get slapped, but we know that the expectations of her were based on the total devaluation of her very self. She was basically bred and reared to be a breeding mare to the highest bidder. 

Is getting your eye ripped out and witnessing the murder of your lover more or less traumatic than being sexually assaulted for 50 years and having your mother and sister murdered in cold blood? Is being imprisoned in a windowless cell and having no contact with virtually anyone for 11 years of your life worse or better than witnessing the murder of your father? or the decapitation of your sister? 

Has Jurian, for example, suffered enough, not enough or too much? What about Amren who was imprisoned for TWO THOUSAND years? (basically since Jesus’s times)

Feyre died. Rhys died. Nesta and Elain got their humanity burned out of them and turned into a different species. Is one worse than the other?

I don’t know. 

But honestly, please stop. Don’t devalue people’s trauma, because you don’t ship something. it’s so preposterous how do people even make these posts?

When I came across this:

ACOFAS is actually the book SJM kept talking about planting seeds in for future books (spin offs) so no wonder she mentioned that we might have an idea about where El*cien is going in ACOFAS because that book buried El*cien six feet under.

Indeed, SJM shows us in ACOFAS in many ways how El*cien doesn't and won't work

Her mouth tightened, the only sign of anger in her graceful countenance. “I don’t want a mate. I don’t want a male.”

Elain, at least, would be too polite to send Lucien away when he wanted to help. She was too polite to send him away on a normal day. She just ignored him or barely spoke to him until he got the hint and left.

How Lucien withstood it, I didn’t know. Not that he’d shown any interest in bridging that gap between them.

“I don’t think she’ll tolerate two minutes alone with me, so forget about two weeks.”

“I can’t stand to be in the same room as her for more than two minutes"

I handed Elain the small box with her name on it. Her smile faded as she opened it.

“Enchanted gloves,” she read from the card. “That won’t tear or become too sweaty while gardening.” She set aside the box without looking at it for longer than a moment. And I wondered if she preferred to have torn and sweaty hands, if the dirt and cuts were proof of her labor.Her joy.

Meanwhile SJM kept building up Elriel in ACOFAS and ACOSF and created tension and conflict for them to overcome. I find it really telling that ACOFAS has zero El*cien positive content, not even friendly talking or enemies to lovers spark, just discomfort and awkwardness, SJM could have done so much to change that but she didn't.

The fandom made Gwyn's character more relevant than she actually is but they also think gwyn exists solely for Azriel's story...I'm not surprised since I've never seen a fandom treating its female characters the way acotar fans do and all in the name of feminism. right. It's the same combo that think elain is lucien's possession and see nothing wrong with it. they don't respect elain's wishes even though she made it clear she doesn't want him. it's so embarrassing and sad the way people twist the narrative and make up nonsensical plotlines just to support an inexistent couple and a doomed one.

There's two types of theories when it comes to Gwyn:

Put her into as many plots as possible to make her important

Make Azriel's upcoming story all about her

Some examples of type 1 are:

Gwyn is going to reform Illyria

Gwyn is going to be used by Koschei in a way to blackmail Azriel because she's "his mate"

Gwyn is going to not only be Rhysand's best friend, but also the person he comes to when he has trouble with Nyx (Feyre clearly left her family at this point)

Some examples of type 2 are:

Gwyn is going to be the person to perform an exorcism on Azriel to get rid of his "toxicity"

Gwyn is going to teach Azriel about "true love" (because a 500 year old man obviously needs to learn about his feelings from a 28 year old who knows about them so much more than him)

And the craziness goes on and on and on...

As for the situation with Elain and Lucien, I agree. A character doesn't need to explicitly say "I want to reject this mating bond" for readers to understand that she wants to reject the bond❗❗As the saying goes, sometimes actions speak louder than words and it's safe to say that Elain's actions are screaming right now.

And I can’t wait to see Elain to choose Azriel for herself, with no one interrupting or telling her what she should do or who she should be with.
