eldritch-dreaming:
“Should we tell him an army marches on his stomach, or is that too cruel? I feel certain that we should mention it eventually- especially if he thinks the spawn stop being burdens once they’re loose.” Spawn, not children. Whatever had been begotten of an abomination and a demon would in no way be deserving of a term so positive as ‘child.’ How they thought to control them, Lovecraft didn’t know- nor did he particularly care. It was not within his contract to care for them then.
That of course didn’t mean he wouldn’t visit or help Sebastian. The demon was doing his level best in an honestly infuriating situation that would have irked Lovecraft himself to no end. More of his kind would help further his ultimate goals though, so the contract between himself and Sebastian wasn’t a total loss. Hm, his shoulders felt stiff. He would have to go rouse up some trouble some time soon.
“He doesn’t have to worry about that.” Sebastian sighed. He had woken up lately to feeling the creatures in him pressing down on his organs, and getting nasty heartburn. He called the spawn “children” around humans usually. He found calling them that gave him less weird looks.
The demon lead Lovecraft through the city, walking alongside him as a few people gave the unusual couple looks that ranged from “What the?” to “Holy shit.”. He ignored it, as he just really wanted to eat something at this point and keep his unborn creatures happy until snack time at five. Finally, the two got to the buffet. “Ready to scare the owner?” he looked at Lovecraft with a wicked grin on his face.
Were Sebastian to ask that just a few short months ago, a quizzical look would be given and chaos would literally ensue within the establishment. Tentacles, whisperings of madness in a frequency humans couldn’t even begin to comprehend, the grotesque changing of his body before them- a ghastly display of table manners, really. After the first time that occured (intentionally), Sebastian and Ciel were quick to sit the Old One down and teach him a few unconventional points of speech. Luckily he had learned with only a furrowed brow and a nod what things like ‘break a leg’ or ‘knock em dead’ actually meant before some irreversible damage was done.
“Of course,” he answered after a slight pause- he had forgotten to breathe again, hadn’t he? He opened the door and held it for the smaller man behind him, nose registering all of the smells that would be delightful to a normal human and noting that they seemed to have everything Sebastian had noted- not in one place, of course. He could smell something else- fear from the wait staff. His eyes dragged lazily across the patrons already there and seated, it was packed, of course it was packed. For one who was worshipped as a God, he still had what was best described in human terms as “crippling anxiety as an introvert.”
The demon didn’t realize that Lovecraft didn’t understand human terms like he did, and explaining to him what that meant was easily luckily. He was sure to let him know that he didn’t mean it literally- even though he would’ve loved to show his true form to humans when he was having a bad day. At least nothing was out of place that very day.
Sebastian went in first, and the host was quivering in fear as the odd couple followed them to their table. They got sat down at a small, square table that was in the middle of the room, since all the booths were taken. “Just a water, please.” Sebastian told the host with a warm smile. He couldn’t wait to start dishing up- He did have an army to feed, after all, and the flutters that he felt were getting frequent as they anticipated getting fed.
"The same," Lovecraft tacked on, folding his slightly shaky hands into his lap. Being the center of attention like this was never comfortable, and of course they managed to be smack in the center of the restaurant. On either side of their table was another, children seated and misbehaving with parents trying in vain to enjoy their meal. He stared at the host as they withdrew to fetch their beverages quickly, the sea monster's gaze never leaving their back.
His eyes widened a bit as one of the children behind him backed into his chair, tangling their greasy little fingers into his hair. It was oily and slimy already- obviously- but he didn't want people putting their hands in it! Breathe in, breathe out. He sighed warily as he slumped forward a bit, trying to distance himself just a bit from the party behind him. "You're enjoying this on some level, aren't you." Can't have only Sebastian suffer, after all!

Being awake was tiring, holding a human guise was tiring, and most certainly working for the boss of your boss was tiring. Lovecraft cracked an audible sigh as his dark colored eyes watched the little human behind the desk- giving order after order with chastisements mixed in. How dreadful it must be to be contracted to that, and while he pitied his raven haired companion- he knew his position was only marginally better. The attention was turned to him though it was just too exhausting to listen to the minutae of the little one’s rantings- likely unhappy about too much destruction or not enough subtlety when he was sent to work. Lovecraft was oft worshipped as a god, not stuck doing menial work for mortals, and certainly not meant to be upon the land for extended periods of time.
Another sigh and he saw an eyebrow twitch then a special little smirk cross that face, oh yes, it was a smirk that only presented itself when one was ready and willing to play with fire. Lovecraft bore almost an eternal grimace at this point to the droning on and on, but the boy had swiveled around in his chair rather quickly, after only a few words, motioning with his hand for the demon and abomination to leave the room. Lovecraft was unapologetic as he left the room with Sebastian, leaning in as he whispered in a low tone, “Did he say anything important? I was rather vacant the entire time.”
This was quite the circumstance the demon was in- and all for a soul of an angry child. Ciel Phantomhive ran the government program for the current mayor, who wanted crime to stay low. His operation wasn’t huge: It was just him, Sebastian, Bard the explosion expert, Mey-Rin the expert marksman, and Finnian the strong boy. While this group was fine, Ciel wanted more, but didn’t want to risk recruiting someone that would turn on him or was a spy for some other operation.
This was where Sebastian came in. He was told by him to make a contract with someone he deemed powerful, so he could make his own little army. The demon was reluctant, and found Lovecraft. Three months later- he was finally showing in the belly area, looking to be six months pregnant, and Ciel was getting very impatient about it. The demon took all of the boy’s ramblings with a smile that hid his true feelings. Finally, the two were excused. Sebastian sighed as they walked down the hallway. “If being told that development of monster children should be faster was important, then he needs to lower his expectations.” he replied.
“He’s lucky there aren’t truly two of my kind then, we’d be stuck in a contractually obligated limbo for centuries.” Or what Lovecraft could only assume would be centuries, it isn’t like he had a frame of legitimate reference. All good things were worth the wait, and it wasn’t as though the demon was impaired, even in his now slightly-rounded state. Whatever he needed done could be done just as well by Lovecraft himself- excepting cooking, of course. A finger tapped on his thin-pressed lips as his other hand strayed to his abdomen- while his outer form may have looked human he certainly didn’t have any human innards. This did nothing to stop his appetite, and had he been human his stomach moat certainly gurgled at the thought of food.
“It seems a waste to use us this way- but it isn’t a permanent arrangement. Say- have you any cravings for food?” While Lovecraft was typically always hungry, Sebastian seemed to be devoid of an actual need for sustenance, at least any physical part anyway. That didn’t mean the demon never ate, but simply that he had to be in the mood to eat. “Or do we actually have some sort of work to do? I shudder to think that he would call us in solely to complain… but I have no doubts he would do just that.”
That certainly would be a hell if they were in such a position. He liked his freedom when he wasn’t in the mood for an amazing-tasting soul. Sebastian was having a harder time doing things now that he couldn’t bend over, so Lovecraft filled in those gaps for him while he took over cooking, now that he had a reason to actually eat human food. His hands had started to wander down to his swollen middle ever since it started to poke out a month ago. His fingers gently tapped the surface of it as he started to think about Lovecraft’s question.
“Now that you mentioned it.” he said, looking up at the ceiling for a moment. “Whipped-cream covered bacon on fettuccine noodles sounds pretty good right now. Maybe a side of deep-fried shrimp with teriyaki sauce with it.” He looked to Lovecraft. “We can wait until after lunch to do more work. The young master is going to find something to complain about anyway.”
Any human would likely gag or balk at Sebastian’s idea of ‘food,’ but any substance not directly poisonous to the ancient being was deemed appropriate food. Of the two, Sebastian was the better cook by leaps and bounds; Lovecraft, if left unsupervised, would simply eat the ingredients for the meal before falling asleep within the kitchen- or even standing up at the market, were he sated enough. In fact, it had become a game of the local children to ask the strange lanky man to eat something or another, always yelling and betting eachother when he would finally become ill or say no. That day had not come yet, and still the children swarmed to find out his breaking point.
Lovecraft never saw himself as ‘parent material’ and honestly still didn’t- even if his mate this time around was more resilient than a human, he doubted muchly their contractual overlord would get his desired results. Why he couldn’t just work Lovecraft like anyone else that dredged him up from the sea, he would never know. Still- the children were good practice, he supposed. “I do believe that’s missing all forms of chocolate as well as hotsauce, how peculiar. To cook, or have others cook for us…” His default position on the issue was ‘have others work,’ but he wouldn’t complain if he was told to cook- his legitimate contracter was the demon, after all.
You can bet Sebastian caught Lovecraft eating ingredients and passing out, which is why he became the sole cook between the two, and the primary shopper when they went out to get supplies. Lovecraft playing his game with the kids gave Sebastian some time to get off his feet and enjoy a snack. He got dinner and show that way.
The demon did want kids of his own, and didn’t think this was the way he would get them. Was it because he thought he couldn’t carry, or how a man would look pregnant that stopped him? Even if he was carrying abominations- he saw them as his children, and liked feeling their movements. “Oh?” he found it amusing when Lovecraft wanted to eat. “We would need to find a place to eat that would accommodate our cravings. The closest would be the buffet, but I get the feeling the one in the city dreads seeing us.”
“They don’t seem to dread the money, though your master certainly does dread the bill. I suppose if you pay enough, any inconsisencies between ourselves and actual humans could be overlooked. Was that really how humanity had developed over the millenia? He could remember a time when they had barely crawled their way out of the primordial brew of the oceans, reverent to nature and himself and beseeching him only for knowledge and greatness, if only for his form. Those days seemed to be long gone as he was now somewhere between baby daddy and nanny, but each contractual obligation had its perks.
He must have been getting old, though, as it became harder and harder to stay awake now as he was summoned seemingly more often than ever before- there wasn’t even a great war or a plague or natural disaster for his beckonings anymore, and he could certainly class all of his tasks now as inane. He did miss the free banquet- of offerings and human tributes both. The garbage that humans ate now would likely make them taste just awful, but he could still remember that iron and salt taste at a moment’s notice. “On the other hand, we could simply hire someone to make our food from a local lodging. It isn’t as though he was worried about the cost instead of the time.” He was mirthful at that, showing in a slight twinkle of his eyes even as his face remained tired and impassive as ever.
“That’s what he gets for wanting an army.” Sebastian replied, just smiling. He still remembered the first time the two were brought to Ciel’s office because of the bill. It was a moment he was able to hold food down for longer than an hour because of morning sickness. At least it was lessening as he was getting farther along.
“Like who? You know what happened the last time we allowed Bard to cook something.” Sebastian’s face shifted to that of annoyance, remembering the plate of charcoal that Bard dared called “food”. He almost threw up from that meal. “And how will we explain our situation to said hired cook anyhow?”
“The same way I explain everything.” Which meant he wouldn’t at all, but his vacant stare would often coerce humans into submission even without any actual power behind it. It seemed being a man of gaunt and rather imposingly tall stature had its benefits, even if it annoyed many he worked with. For so many reasons it was just easier to assume that particular guise as a human- and to keep it faithfully of course. He was already cramped as could be and constantly keeping himself in check to at least look human, even if he still forgot to breathe and blink at times.
“I leave it to you to decide where we go, I haven’t had any luck with finding restaurants on my own. Of course, we could always ask for help, not from that explosive one though.” He shook his head, perish the thought! That human was more than a handful! Lovecraft had a difficult time remembering mortal names, and even forgot Sebastian’s or his mortal one at times. An all powerful eldritch creature worshipped as a God was a bit of a stretch from what he was now….
He just rolled his eyes at that, but did have to admit that Lovecraft’s staring did help at times, especially when he needed to find maternity clothes and everyone looked at the two like they were tripping acid. He made a mental note to get more clothes since he was growing so quickly…
His gloved fingers kept tapping the surface of his belly as he considered the options. He didn’t feel like cooking all that much for now, and they were going to be on their lunch break soon. “The buffet for today. We can call around for a personal cook later.” he replied. “The young master will have to deal with his life choices.”

Roleplay Call
New roleplay blog on the block! My name is Fran and I’ve been lurking in the BSD fandom for a while now. I’ve made a multifandom RP blog for Lovecraft here, OC friendly and mutlifandom/Crossover/AU friendly. 18+ only on blog please due to body horror and other mature themes present, thank you.
Being awake was tiring, holding a human guise was tiring, and most certainly working for the boss of your boss was tiring.
To cook, or have others cook for us…” His default position on the issue was 'have others work,’ but he wouldn’t complain if he was told to cook- his legitimate contracter was the demon, after all.
"They don't seem to dread the money, though your master certainly does dread the bill.
He must have been getting old, though, as it became harder and harder to stay awake now as he was summoned seemingly more often than ever before- there wasn't even a great war or a plague or natural disaster for his beckonings anymore, and he could certainly class all of his tasks now as inane. He did miss the free banquet- of offerings and human tributes both. The garbage that humans ate now would likely make them taste just awful, but he could still remember that iron and salt taste at a moment's notice. "On the other hand, we could simply hire someone to make our food from a local lodging. It isn't as though he was worried about the cost instead of the time." He was mirthful at that, showing in a slight twinkle of his eyes even as his face remained tired and impassive as ever.
