"...What manner of creature are you?"
Β€γππγΒ€ "I'm a gatekeeper," Avemcaec replied, a bit blunt, "Angellic beings that aren't true gods nor angels, but their own thing. They usually have many eyes and are generally large compared to mortals."
"I'm specifically a bird based gatekeeper. Oh! I almost forgot to introduce myself, I am Avemcaec."
Jay looked rather surprised by the bow. Should...Should he bow back to her? After a while, he gave them a bow back in response, and hoped that action came off as respectful.
"H...higher beings?" Jay said, his eyes widening in response. Oh, now he really hoped that he hadn't messed up! Jay fidgeted with one of the ends of his cloak, and looked down.
Β€γππγΒ€ Avemcaec was a bit surprised at the bow, but shrugged it off. She probably should have expected that one will bow back if she bowed! "You didn't really had to bow back, you know," they replied, giggling, "I was just being a bit formal."
"Yes, that's what my kin is called," she explained, "I'm specifically a bird based one, and one of the less abstract ones, one of my kin is literally just a rubix cube with arms!"
She immediately noticed Jay's discomfort, and spoke, "Don't worry, I'm not going to smite you or anything. In fact, I prefer to not be treated like some kind of god. It feels a little alienating, to me at least."
"You can help me by leaving me alone!" Pokey yelled, he now seemed like he was trying to intimidate Avemcaec.
"Go away!"
Β€γππγΒ€ Avemcaec backed off a bit from Pokey's words, but still remained close enough to speak. "Sorry kid, intimating me won't work," She said casually, "Not too sure what's your problem."
"Any other words before I leave... unless you change your mind?" They sighed.
Pokey continued to cower, but he obeyed her orders and looked up at her.
"I'm Pokey... Now leave me alone!" Was all he had to say.
Β€γππγΒ€ Avemcaec was surprised at the being's response, but she was still too curious about the being to leave him alone. They wondered why he was acting like this, if he hurt was hurt or even if he's on the run from something.
But Avemcaec simply shook her head, before speaking, "So, Pokey, is it? Are you lost, and if so, could I help you with anything?"

"I...It's very nice to meet you, Avemcaec." Jay said with a smile. A gatekeeper, huh? Interesting.
"Well, a mage is a...a magic user. And...yes, I am a bird. Humans call me a bird beast." After e had said that, Jay's ear feathers flicked. "...I..is it okay if I ask what a gatekeeper is?"
Β€γππγΒ€ "Same with you, Jay," She greeted back, giving a small bow.
"I guess we aren't too dissimilar after all," they chuckled, before explaining, "Gatekeepers! I'm not too sure how to explain what my kin are, but they're usually large angelic beings, with many eyes and seemingly impossible abilities. However, we aren't gods nor angels, but a completely different kind of higher being."
Pokey flinched at the bright light, shutting his eyes tightly.
"N-no!" Pokey's extra limbs were dug firmly into the ground below, as he continued to cower. "I'd l-like it better if you... You weren't here at all...!" He said, hands clutching at his chest.
Β€γππγΒ€ Avemcaec was rather concerned over this person, they seemed extremely terrified of her, how sad! They tried to think about anything that could make this less terrifying, before finally acting out her idea.
"Hey, look at me," she said, firmly yet gently, "I will not hurt you, nor do anything horrible with you. I am just curious about my new guest. Who are you?"

Jay looked at the stranger, his ear feathers in a neutral position.
"H...Hello to you as well." He responded, his voice meek. "I...I'm Jay. I am a...a mage." With taloned hands, Jay fidgeted with one of the ends of his cloak.
"Who...Who are you, if you don't m..mind me asking?" He said with a curious chirp.
Β€γππγΒ€ "I am Avemcaec," the being introduced herself, "I am one of the many gatekeepers that exist, although I think I might be the only one who decided to explore other places."
"Also what is a mage, and are you a fellow bird like me?"
Pokey took a few more steps back, very obviously still terrified.
He continued to back away until he finally tripped over his own feet, falling back with a small yelp.
Β€γππγΒ€ She crouched down to meet Pokey's eyes, eight pure white eyes staring right at him. "Hey kid," they spoke in a much more mild voice, "I won't hurt you, I know I look scary, but I won't hurt ya."
She stood up and shook their wings, seeming somewhat intimating yet bizarrely angelic. "Anyways, what's your name?" They then chimed.
When she stood over him, he pressed himself against the ground as tightly as he could, staring up at her still.
He obviously didn't believe her, still absolutely terrified. He seemed like he was trying to say something, but couldn't get the words out.
Β€γππγΒ€ Noticing that the little child right in front of her seems even more terrified, they finally decided to use her humanoid form.
With a burst of bright orange light, they reappeared in a much smaller form, albeit still towering over Pokey. "Is this better?" She queried, "I hope I'm still not too intimating."
"Are you okay, little one?"
Pokey took a few more steps back, very obviously still terrified.

He then let out a horrified shriek, stumbling backward.

"Anyways, who are you? I am Avemcaec, and I am the ruler of this dimension."
