There’s a phrase I came across in the Mirror: “Blood is Thicker Than Water”
As I understand it, it mean that the bonds of one’s bloodline are stronger than of one’s comrades.
Even if that’s the case blood leaves stains on all it touches, whereas pure water cleans and purifies what it is applied to.
After looking into the etymology of that phrase, it seems to be derived from “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.”
I find it interesting that the expression has evolved to mean the exact opposite from what it once was. In any case, loyalty due only to blood ties isn’t much loyalty at all. Speaking from experience, a family member could stab you in the back as easily as some unknown stranger on the street, should they take it into their head to do so.
In my opinion, putting too much trust in either family OR comrades is a wasteful endeavor. Ones true fealty should belong only to themself. I wouldn’t put much stock in the sayings of the mirror world, from what I've seen, a good amount of the individuals over there have no common sense whatsoever.
