I’ve got some pretty bad fucking news for The Youths™️

Being an adult is… pretty fucking boring for a good chunk of the time. You’re (typically) working full time, paying bills, doing laundry, running errands, maybe raising a family. And then, when you do have downtime, you’re usually too tired to do anything other than couch rot. This isn’t to say that being an adult is completely fucking miserable - there are a lot of things about it that are totally great! But, in general, once you’re working full time and taking care of all the responsibilities that came with surviving as a Fully Grown Adult Human, it can be hard to find the time to do things you truly enjoy.

So you know what? It is fucking dope if you see people in fandoms who also have to deal with, you know, *gestures broadly* Fandoms allow people the space to interact with like minded people with similar interests, to create art and write stories and have fun.

Younger people really need to understand that internet fandom spaces have existed since before you were even alive. If it wasn’t for the “old people” in fandom, you’d have no blueprint for any of this.

So stop trying to drive all us “old folks” out of fandom spaces. Life does not stop at 30. And bad news, buckaroo. Those absolutely incredible, 100K+ word smut fics you’re reading and rereading because of how good they are? They’re not being written by some 18 year old with a fuck ton of time on their hands, they’re being written by 42 year old Susan who works in accounting on her fucking lunch break and after her 3 kids go to bed at night
