Something i realised about the main 4 ninja’s true potential:
I saw a post here a day or two ago talking about the ninja’s true potentials.
It was specifically talking about how Kai achieved his by saving Lloyd, some kid he didn’t really know, compared to how the others saved people they knew, literally just proving to us again why Kai and Lloyd are the sibling duo (plus Nya. We love Nya.)
But it made me realise something about each of their true potentials.
Each of the ninja saved someone they knew, but not someone they were close to yet.
Cole saved his dad who he was in no way close to at the time due to their bad communication issues. It took Cole acknowledging that his dad wasn’t as bad as he believed to push him to unlock his true potential.
Zane saved the other ninja, who he wasn’t as close to at the time. Zane had just realised that he was a nindroid, and very obviously believed that it would cause a bigger drift between him and the others when added to their differing personalities. It took Zane realising the ninja would never hate him for who he is to push him into saving them.
Jay had to save Nya, who he wasn’t close to at the time either. They both acknowledged they had something between them, but Jay didn’t know how to handle it all and believed that to win Nya over he had to pretend to be someone else. Nya had to tell Jay to his face that she didn’t want some mask he wore, but him. That was the push Jay needed to unlock his.
Kai had to save Lloyd, a kid he didn’t like but reflected who he used to be too well. It took one look at Lloyd for Kai to save him and unlock his.
Each of the ninja saved someone they knew, but not someone they were close to, to unlock their true potentials. These people later became some of the most important people in each of their lives, knowing them inside and out better than anyone else.
It were these people who, despite not knowing the ninja too well at the time, that ended up teaching them each how to accept who they are, flaws and all. That Cole didn’t need to lie about who he is, that Zane didn’t need to be ashamed of what he is, that Jay didn’t need to hide who is under a mask, and that Kai didn’t need to change what he was.
Those people became important rocks in each of their lives. The ninja would not be who they are today if they didn’t save those people at the moment.
Bahsgah i don’t think i shared it right so let me summarise: the ninja had to unlock their true potentials by acknowledging and accepting who they are, and the only reason they were able to do that was by fixing the bonds in barely made relationships with people they know and wanted to be close to.
