Being the "faculty initiatives assistant."
I was/am working basically full time, and its not like a retail or minimum wage working job where you have physical exhaustion, you have a little of that plus mental exhaustion. The stress of organizing educational programs that both faculty, staff and students attend is IMMENSELY stressful. A simple program that lasts merely two hours takes days of research and preparation.
As winter break is coming to an end for us UC/quarter system students, my stress is rising lol. My coordinator who told me, and I quote his text, "you are amazing, amazing. kick ass as well!" lol, its a good and bad thing to be favored by staff. A good thing because they recognize you and your work ethic, but bad because they make you want to take the lead on all the projects -_____- By Monday I need to have an outline done for my Winter Program, I want it to be centered around the U.S. Police Indictment. So, I have to research the court systems, expand on talking points for faculty speakers. FIGURE OUT WHICH FACULTY I WANT TO BE A PART OF THE ROUND TABLE. I have to structure the program, then set some meeting dates.
I also got selected to be a student facilitator for a mental health support/therapeutic weekend program in January. I have to do some structuring around that. PLUS, my department's director asked me personally to take lead on the campus' Bone Marrow Drive. sigh. I have to structure that and do some minor planning, I'm lead on the advocacy portion of it among other things I have to do, like find a student lead to run the drive on the other side of campus. But, fun fact, the advocacy portion is really interesting because we're informing people about the lack of diversity in the donor pool as well as having it illegal for homosexual men to donate blood even if they recently tested negative for HIV (aka discrimination on multiple levels). So, we're advocating/educating the public on why it's important to have larger diversity with the donor pool and why it's wrong to not allow healthy gay men to donate just because they're gay. This is just one of my campus jobs. I also have been promoted in the job I had for two years, I now sit as vice chair on a student fee advisory committee, which we provide support to the vice chancellor on how and where to spend our student fees.
So, on top of ALL OF THIS I AM A STUDENT DOUBLE MAJORING and worrying about paying rent, utilities, food, etc on my own. This quarter was really something else for me, the stress and emotions especially being a junior trying to figure out post-undergrad and maintain my GPA so I can stay with these job opportunities.. It was crazy. lol But, I'm still positive and outgoing, somehow maintaining a social life in all of this haha. Adulthood you guys, adulthood is something else. Growing as an individual, all the experiences, both good and bad, I feel like I'm honestly living through 'college' and being in my 'twenties.' It's one of a kind, stressful yet awakening. Alhamdulilah, I am blessed.

Just if anyone was wondering WHY the NYPD hates Mayor Bill DeBlasio so much: he openly admitted he sometimes worried about his black son and what would happen if he got into confrontations with the police.
That is literally all he did and now they want to ruin him.
Not only do I love interracial couples, but I love open minded politicians. #deBlasio
