The Half Blood Prince
I really love how Harry falls for the Prince, and how much he unashamedly likes and admires his fellow teenager.
In his book form, the Prince is the perfect mix of both Hermione (academic and willing to assist), and Ron (mischievous and talented). Unfortunately, the downfall for Harry comes when he realises the Prince combines these positive attributes with a stroke of violence that may have been warranted in the halls of Hogwarts in the 70s, but not in the 90s.
But until it fell apart, it makes me smile that Harry found an affinity with the Prince. I find it really satisfying and appealing that Lily’s son managed to find common ground with teenage Severus, just as Lily herself had done all those years before…
“…in spite of the increasing nastiness of those scribbled spells, he had refused to believe ill of the boy who had been so clever, who had helped him so much…” I love the idea of Lily having felt the same watching her friend grow darker and darker over the years, unable to let go of that clever boy who had helped her understand who she was.
