Okay this is me just ranting about something... WHY ARENT THERE MORE HARD-HITTING WLW SHOWS/MOVIES??!!! AM I MISSING THEM??? WHERE ARE THEY??!! (especially live action cause I see many wlw ships in animated media) Cause I see SO MANY good (live action) shows with representation of queer men, but I can't seem to find any lesbian or wlw ones??!! Can someone help a girl out pls, i'm suffering...
Ok, bringing this back in light of the bridgerton season 5 news. Clearly there are many great examples of queer women in movies and TV shows, but I guess I'm finding out that it's not the fact that there is less women than men, but that it's more heavily rewarded when it's men. Now the same women who praised heated rivalry, saying stuff like 'love is love', just to turn on a silly romance show for simply changing the gender of one of the characters??? First of all, if it was a gay ship, those same fans would be ecstatic by the update. But no, it's a wlw one. And secondly, you already have FOUR SEASONS and a whole WORLD full of media of your straight relationships being represented? Cry about it I guess, cause I'm now starting to watch bridgerton season four purley for francesca x michaela. And you know damn well that I'll be replaying season five over and over again. Because we deserve it. Queer women deserve it.
I watched an amazing youtube video about this that I highly recommend all people who are interested to watch. It really gave me insight and the ability to put all of these thoughts I've been having this year into words. Shoutout to the creator!
