âYeah, your nose is growing, Pinocchio.â She bopped his nose playfully, as she placed the controller upon the couch and stood up in order to get to the fridge. She hummed a catchy tune, as she skipped in the kitchen and grabbed a beer, âDo you want a beer?â She asked, her voice slightly raised. There were no walls between the couch and the fridge, but they did leave the volume of the game too high, even on pause, the background music was quite loud. âIâll give you one more chance to prove your genius to me, and after that itâs good bye cool-shooting-game, and hello Amnesia, and I swear you will pee your pants.â She wiggled her brows playfully, as she hopped on the kitchen counter.Â
Eli though for a moment before shrugging. âSure, why not?â He stood up, stretching his arms and legs for a moment. It could be intense, gaming. At least for his posture. âFine, one more game. But I will tear this building down if I lose.â He joked. It wouldnât be hard, he could feel the stone in the building as if they were veins within his own body. âIâd like to keep my brain intact, thank you very much. I have midterms coming up.â He laughed. âPlus, Ian will kill me if I forget to do groceries. He has a fiery temper, you know?â It was the most awful joke, but it still made him chuckle with glee.
zanexpatel·:
Zane twirled the blood in front of him and then began forming something with it as the male continued to speak. "Thatâs your opinion. Iâm sure yours could be creepy as well, if you tried hard enough.â He muttered as he continued to focus on his creation. He ignored the otherâs question as he continued to mold the blood into a long strip, creating a rope-like object. He smiled as he coiled it up in his hands. âRope.â He held it up towards the other. âSee? Not creepy anymore.â
The blood bender tilted his head to the side as the other male continued to talk. âThatâsâŠ? Please use a word other than creepy. Iâd hope your vocabulary is a little broader than that.â He said and then paused. âWhen I need blood, I take it from where I can get it. Usually itâs from myself and itâs not dangerous at all.â He explained to the other. His lips then tugged into an amused smile. âAnother thing we have in common, then. We both deal with mother nature, in one way or another.â
Eli chuckled softly. Sure, when anyone thinks of Eli Mako, they always think creepy. No, that wasnât him. âMaybe if I create golem or something, that might be creepy.â He shrugged, distracted by his satanic ritual. Or whatever it was that he was doing. It turned out to be a rope. A satanic rope, for sure. âIâm not convinced. That could be a real good murder weapon.â He joked.
âMy vocabulary is great, thank you.â He rolled his eyes. The guy didnât seem to have any bad intentions, as far as he could tell. It was a bit scary at first, but he wasnât dragged around like a voodoo doll or something. âDo you... cut yourself?â It was the only way he could think of that would allow him to get his own blood. He wasnât sure. âWhat does that even mean?â
harleyhidalgo·:
âProbably just as bad as my ability to stay on rooftops without falling off, but itâs not like I have to worry about any injuries Iâll get so that sounds like something I should try.â Harley grinned, a soft chuckle even escaping his lips as the fresh air worked on sobering him up at least a little bit. âI donât know, Iâm pretty interested in the Titans stuff, and the Bombshells stuff⊠Iâve been meaning to read some Swamp Thing stuff since watching the series too. Guess I prefer DC comics, though I wouldnât mind some Spider-Man stuff, and some Venom too.âÂ
Eli laughed softly. He couldnât imagine just being hit by a force and walk away without a scratch. His own power bruised him more than enough. âYou should.â The forests were a great place to be, but maybe that was the loner in him talking. Or the desire to surround himself with earth, making him feel safe and powerful at the same time. âTitans are pretty good, yeah. I think thatâs one of the few DC series I actually enjoy. Iâm definitely more of a Marvel guy. I guess that makes us rivals.â Eli laughed. âIâm Elijah, by the way. Everyone calls me Eli though.â
elizabethxzhang·:
Elizabeth watched as he used his power, rising the dirt from her fingers. A pang of jealousy shot through her chest as she watched it. She tried to become one with her power so bad, and to actually like it, but nothing she did seemed to be enough.Â
She began thinking of the negation bracelets again. Maybe there was a way for her to get one? Then she wouldnât have to worry about her emotions causing earthquakes. Her eyes flickered to look at Eliâs hand as he placed it over hers. As she focused on being calm again, the earth began to calm underneath them. She wasnât sure if it was her or Eli that had stopped the vibrations, but she was happy to have him there anyway. âThanks.â She said her eyes flickering up to meet his. âItâs not too hard for me to stop it when it first starts. But when itâs already a bit out of controlâŠâ She chewed on the inside of her cheek as she finally pulled her hands away from him and straightened her back. âThankfully, thereâs nothing that has caused such an earthquake recently.â Elizabeth pressed his lips together and then asked. âHave you ever caused an earthquake? Or⊠damage like one?â
The earth had stopped shaking, which Elijah was thankful for. The last thing he wanted for Elizabeth was another bad memory of her power. Her power was such a destructive one, but it she could control it, it could be wonderful. Though truth be told, Eli felt a little bit sad for her that she would not gain the control that he had. Their powers were two different branches of the same tree, but different enough. âYeah, that makes sense. I imagine thereâs more energy needed to stop that.â In that regard, Newtonâs first law of motion played a part for both of them. âOh yeah, tons of times. Not always earthquakes and definitely not as powerful as yours. But when Iâm mad or upset, it can get a life of its own. Iâve made buildings collapse.â It wasnât his finest moment, hardly anyone knew what kind of damage he had caused in the past. Heâd rather have people thinking he was a weak and insecure kid than a guy who had accidentally killed people. âEarth is powerful force, isnât it?â He smiled weakly.
luciexluâ:
Smiling, she laughed a little. âI donât mind outdated. Theyâre great ways to learn about how things were written in the past. Plus, Iâve been meaning to get into reading more classics.â Humming softly, she thought about the things that she read the most of. âRecently, Iâve been reading a lot of fantasy. Although, if you would have asked me last year, I would have answered autobiographies. So, Iâll literally read anything thatâs put in front of me.â She finished with another laugh.
Eli smiled back, nodding. âYeah, Iâd like to think so. Sometimes itâs nice to transport yourself back to those periods.â There was some really great writing back then. The mindset of people were much more innocent and romantic, which was a nice way to look at the world sometimes. âI love fantasy. Though I havenât read any fantasy books in a while.â He admitted. âI never got much into autobiographies, though.â
michael-loweâ:
Michaelâs hands shook as he covered his mouth, his jaw-dropped. He was honestly so shocked that he had just threw someone, an innocent someone, with his power. He really needed to get his power in check. He had never used it against anyone other than defensively before. But as the guy got back up and told him it was okay, his hands dropped and he breathed. He laughed weakly and smiled meekly, âWell at least thats a good outcome of my training.â He tried to joke, seeing the silver lining. He walked closer to him. âAre you sure youâre okay?â He shook his head. âIâve been so distracted lately, having this be the one time Iâve been so focused, I guess I just got startled,â he explained sheepishly.

With one smooth motion of his hand, the dirt was swept off of him and back to the ground. That was going to leave a bruise, probably. But it wasnât anything worse that his own power had caused before. âWhat even was that?â He wondered. It all happened so fast. âYeah, Iâm sure. Iâve been knocked down before.â He weakly chuckled. And it wouldnât be the last, he knew. âReally, donât worry about it.â He smiled. âWhat has gotten you so focused?â Eli wondered.
natfoladareâ:
To say Natasha was feeling pent up would be a gross understatement. Between worrying about Kadenâs wellbeing, the super-flu just outside Grimstone, and any kind of pending release of residents, the blonde was anxious to say the very least. Whenever she went long stretches of time without using her power, Natasha could feel it sitting heavy in her chest and throat, aching like a sore muscle. The government had been kind enough to build her the best kind of room at the training facilities they could manage. It was a soundproof room with a light that signaled ear coverings required when she was inside.Â
But Natasha had broken the windows out once and hadnât returned since. Instead, sheâd pulled on a pair of boots, trudging as far into the woods as she could manage and as far away from people as she could muster. Satisfied she had gone far enough, Nat took a wide stance, sucking as much air in through her mouth as her lungs would allow. Opening her mouth, she let out a scream, one hand going to her chest with the cathartic release she felt. Around her, the earth began to vibrate, great trees swaying against her call. Earth tunneled away from her, trees splitting and falling. Satiated, she closed her mouth, the last remnants of her scream barreling away from her in visible waves. She bent over, hands on her knees, breath heaving when she noticed a figure just at the corner of her vision. Panting, Natasha straightened, squinting at them, âHello?â She called, suddenly more sure it was a person, âDid you cover your ears? Are you ok?â
@eli-makoâ
Eli was finding himself more and more in the woods lately, enjoying being surrounded by peaceful nature and the earth. He was exercising his martial arts that was helping him channel the power of the earth. It was something that his brother introduced him too, who had been doing a similar thing for his pyrokinesis. Of course the type of martial arts was different, more fitting to his own needs and power, but the idea was the same.Â
Within seconds, the peaceful nature had been disturbed. Eli noticed the first signs of vibrating earth, but there wasnât any time to react. A both deafening and screeching sound suddenly overwhelmed him and blasted him backwards a good couple of yards. The sounds were unlike anything heâd ever heard and even when it stopped, he could still hear a loud pitch that cancelled out whatever sound there was. A woman came up to him looking worried, but all he could hear was a far away faint noise that was her voice.Â
elizabethxzhang·:
Elizabeth had always felt some jealousy towards Eli. He could manipulate the earth, not just generate earthquakes, and now she had one more thing to be jealous about. His power didnât react like herâs. She found herself letting out a breath of disappointment but she forced a smile. âItâs fine.â Ian had already helped her in the past, she just hoped that Eli could give her more advice, being that they had similar powers. She knew she shouldnât have put so much hope in the idea.Â
âFire and water are different, Eli.â Eliza said as she glanced downward at the ground. She moved her fingers in the grass, tugging at the blades and getting her fingers dirty. âNothing stops Earth.â She could feel the earth calling to her, as if reassuring her. âAt least, nothing that Iâve found.â Her mind automatically went to the time when she was trapped in a force field and forced to use her power. To cause chaos and hurt people. Just like she had done as an infant. At the thought, the earth began vibrating beneath them. âShitââ She bit down on her bottom lip and closed her eyes. âSorry, sorry.â She said loudly as she dug her fingers into the ground, willing it to calm down.Â
Eli felt an overwhelming wave of guilt for not being able to help her like he wanted. Where was Ian when you needed him? He probably knew how to help her, he always knew that sort of stuff. He agreed with her on that water and fire were different, but he also agreed with himself that everything has a natural opposite effect. He saw the dirt on her fingers. With a subtle motion he levitated the small amount of dirt right off her fingers and kept it levitating for a while. âI can.â He replied to her comment that nothing could stop the earth. He let go of the dirt and returned it the earth. He could feel the vibrations starting, with her being the source. Elijah wasnât the least bit worried, he had a power that could protect him from whatever was about to happen. He put his hand on hers. âItâs okay.â He said with a steady, calm voice. He tried to match the frequency of the vibrations that she caused and tried to copy her, only giving off the vibration that cancelled hers out. Hopefully that would counter the effects of the earthquake that was about to erupt.
Not many people knew this, but Aubrey had an enormous passion for video games, and she wasnât even ashamed of that. It was a part of who she was, and she adored that part, especially when it kept her awake until 5am. Most of the girls her age were out there curing diseases, getting married, making babies, and Audrey was perfectly fine playing video games and going to college. Thankfully, this particular afternoon, she had a partner in crime, which she could hopefully succeed in making him stay up until the early hours, so she didnât feel like a complete insomniac on her own. âDude, donât shoot at me! Shoot the other guy!â Aubrey was giving rather loud instructions to the boy, as she held her controller tightly and had her piercing, intense gaze starring at the screen, âIâm on your team, EliâŠI canât with you. I canât.â @eli-makoâ
In a town where everyone was showing off their powers and abilities, it was like living inside one of the comic books that he loved so much. Only now, the action was real and drama was too close too home. Nevertheless, he loved his power and imagining himself as a powerful addition to the Fantastic Four or the X-men. There werenât many people in this power-filled town who enjoyed the things he did, like video gaming for example. Luckily, he did have a friend around the same age and also in college: Aubrey. She wasnât anything like him, but they did have some things in common. âI know how the game works, there was a guy behind you!â He almost frustratingly said as he was aggressively pushing the buttons.  âYou just miss the skills I have, I get that.â He smirked.
zanexpatel·:
âYeah. AP Biology. I know where blood is supposed to be.â Zane said harshly. âBut things that are supposed to âbeâ arenât really here, in this town, are they?â He challenged the other. âEarth isnât supposed to be manipulated unless the tectonic plates shift. You, on the other hand, can do it anyhow.â Zane took another step towards the other male. âOur powers really arenât that much different in a general sense. What we manipulate and what we can do with it is the only difference.âÂ
Zane chuckled at the word âcreepâ. He had been called worse before. âWho said youâre being sacrificed? I already have the blood I need.â He motioned with his free hand towards the blood that he had dangling between the two of them. âAnd I can always get more from myself, if I so desire.â He explained. âI wonât use other peopleâs blood without their explicit consent.â Zane drew out the last word. There had been times when he broke that rule, but that was different circumstances.Â
âIt wouldnât hurt if some things were.â He quietly quipped. Zane was right though. They did live in a town were things werenât normal, at least not according to the history books. Eli stood his ground as the other male approached him. The guy wasnât acting much different than his brother when he wanted to make a point. And Eli was an excellent younger brother. âI feel like mineâs just a tad less creepy.â Blood seemed like a scary thing to control. But maybe it was a stereotype thing.
âWhat are you going to do with it anyway?â The guy seemed to be less intimidating than he thought at first, though the blood still gave him the creeps. âThatâs...â He frowned, not knowing how to finish that sentence. âThat sounds dangerous or.. well, not healthy.â It sounded freaking weird, thatâs what it was. âYeah, I always asked Mother Nature, too, before I rip out a rock.â He sarcastically commented.
elizabethxzhangâ:
âReally?â Elizabeth asked as she looked at Eli closely. She wished she didnât lose control. âHow do you do it?â She asked, moving a little closer to him, intrigued and interested in hearing his tactics. âHow do you not lose control?â She asked again. Surely, another person who had a similar power could give her some insight, right? âOf course. But my power is more tied to my emotions than anything.â If she knew how to separate the two, she would. She had made some progress over the years, but every time a huge event happened, she kept falling back. With the recent one being the sickness.Â
âWeak spot?â She asked, pressing her lips together into a thin line. âWhat do you mean?â She was really trying to follow, but she couldnât help but be confused by what he was saying. He was so smart. Elizabeth honestly felt dumb around him, not having thought about any of the things he had brought up in such a short amount of time. But she wanted to try. âIâll try anything you suggest.âÂ
The question left Eli at a loss for words. How did he not lose control? âI think.. my power is strength based, I need to embody stability. Those are not things I excel at. So even if I lost control, I wouldnât be strong enough to actually do so much damage, I guess. I donât know, itâs not helpful, is it?â He sighed. Eli didnât want to say that he didnât quite understood his power like she did. All he knew was that it sometimes felt very heavy to use it. âI guess our strength comes from different sources. Maybe someone whose power is also emotion-based, would be more helpful.. Iâm sorry.â God, did he feel like shit now. Getting her hopes up and failing her.
He though for a moment. âIanâs power is fire, right? If you used water or coldness, he wouldnât be much of a threat anymore. If we could find out what stops you in your tracks, power-wise, we could use that in keeping your power contained.â It was an idea hanging together by a couple of threads, but it was a starting point.Â
zanexpatel·:
A wider smile formed on Zaneâs lips as he watched the guy take a step back as he moved forward. âCome on, itâs just blood. We all have it in us. Whatâs so wrong about it being outside of the body?â Zane asked the other with the same smile on his lips. âI am a funny man. Thank you for noticing.â He winked at the other male.Â
âIâve seen plenty of them, yes.â Zane said with a nod. âNone quite like what this one would be butâŠâ Zane shrugged his shoulders. âIt wouldnât be horrific if you werenât so squeamish.â The blood bender pointed out. âWhy, exactly, are you so squeamish?â He asked. âItâs just red liquid. Like kool-aid.âÂ
God, how annoying this dude was. He was actually enjoying this. Sociopath. âYouâve had biology in high school, I hope? Itâs designed to be within us. Not outside, floating like some creepy voodoo shit.â Eli was getting more frustrated than scared now. âYouâre welcome.â He narrowed his eyes as he spat his sarcasm.
âDonât blame this on me, man. Youâre the creep. Itâs like a cult horror movie where Iâm about to be sacrificed for some blood ritual.â He countered the man, refusing to have this turn around on him and make him the crazy one. Ian did that more than enough. âYouâre crazy.â
elizabethxzhangâ:
Elizabeth chewed on the inside of her cheek as she began thinking about his suggestion. Could he stop her earthquake from knocking down the buildings in town? Could he actually help her control it and keep it just around the two of them? Eliza wasnât sure. She was too afraid to find out. âAnd what happens if we both lose control?â She found herself asking, her eyes flickering up to meet Eliâs.Â
âYou could design something for me?â She asked, now intrigued by the idea. âMy power is the earth. Thereâs no⊠sound waves that come out of my hands or anything. Itâs literally just⊠the earth calls, I make it shake and break. Fissures in the ground, forcing buildings to shift and fall because of the earth breaking underneath it.â She didnât know how else to explain it. âIâm not sure if rubber could help me with any of that.â Sheâd like it to, but she was unsure.
Eli pondered the question she asked. âI think itâs more of a risk that Iâm not strong enough. I rarely lose control.â He noted, simulating the event in his mind. It was definitely not easy, Elizabeth packed a lot of power. Maybe more so than he could contain. But then again, what other option is there? âOne way or another, in the long run it would be best if you controlled your power, right?â
âIâm not sure, but I would love to try.â Eli has always been fascinated with super powers and how they work, as evidenced by his love for superhero comic books. âThat.. makes sense. To me.â He smiled. Connection to the earth was ever present in his mind. It was as if his senses were picking up so much, as if the earth was talking to him. So he definitely understood where she was coming from. âIf we could figure out your weak spot, what would nullify or weaken your earthquake, we could use that. Right now Iâm thinking that an isolated block of earth could stop the range from it becoming too massive.â Maybe. âWhat if I could push a boulder into the air, not connected to the earth. Maybe that would limit the damage.â
zanexpatel·:
Zane watched the other as he seemingly used his own power to lift a rock into his hand. The blood bender tilted his head to the side, a smirk forming on his lips. âA rock? What on earth do you need that for?â Zaneâs smile widened. âGet it? Earth?â A chuckle escaped his lips as he took a step towards the other male, the blood still circling in front of him.Â
His eyebrows shot up at the question and Zane couldnât help but laugh loudly. âKill you?â He asked. âWhat gave you the idea that I want to kill you?â Zane was extremely curious as to why the male thought this. âJust because I like to play with blood, doesnât mean I actually like to take otherâs lives.âÂ
Eli took a step back as the man in front of him took a step towards him. Werenât there news items of violence? People missing? Maybe. Eli couldnât remember if they were accurate. âYeah, youâre a funny man.â He said, his mind only half present as the other half was focused on the floating blood in front of him. He never was much of a fan of blood outside the body.
His eyes shot back towards the guy who clearly was having some kind of sociopathic fun time. âHave you ever seen a horror movie? This, a dark alleyway with a laughing stranger and floating blood, would be a very good start of a horror movie.â Eli replied visibly unsure as to how the man did not see that himself.
harleyhidalgo·:
âI like to be closer to the stars, plus itâs quieter up there. Youâre all on your own, with nothing but the open sky and your thoughts.â Perhaps not the best combination for Harley most days, but he would still make a frequent habit of it. âNo, definitely not going to murder you, you can be rest assured.â Harley laughed, trying to ignore the blood on his top sticking to his skin. âNice to meet you too, Eli. Ah, what did you get? I love comics, but rarely find myself reading them. Definitely need to change that.âÂ
âIf you want the real start experience, you should climb a tree out in the woods. Theyâre much brighter there because thereâs no artificial light. And itâs quieter. How good are your tree climbing skills when youâre drunk?â Elijah teased the man a bit. It was a good sign, it meant he was more at ease and he felt more like himself already. âIâve started to read the 2018 series of the Fantastic Four. Itâs pretty good.â For the longest time, and maybe even still, Eli wanted to be a superhero himself. To walk around in an amazing costume with a cool name, doing whatever he wanted, to be looked up to, that seemed pretty great. âWhat would you get?â
