Percy's powers are growing at an exponential rate. This means that when he grows even slightly upset the ground trembles and it's scaring the people around him. Alright, he can take a hint. Besides, he doesn't want to hurt anyone he cares about. Even if his loved ones-Annabeth- don't care about hurting him. He thought they were fine after Tartarus, but he can see that his power scares her more and more everyday. So, he's leaving. Problem solved.
Percy moves to Bludhaven with a single duffel bag and a rickety wood boat that wouldn't be missed from the camp's boathouse. He sets up shop in the Swamplands by the airport. No sane person would live there, but Percy certainly would. Plus, he's banking on his ability to figure out woodworking enough to ramshackle together his own living quarters. . . . okay, a lean-to would probably be more accurate. It's not like he had any money right now, and he wasn't going to take any from his mom. She was finally doing okay. It was Percy's turn to find his own way.
So fuck paying rent. Shoddy lean-to it is.
Except when he got there it was disgusting. Beer bottles littered the marshes, shoes of all shapes and sizes floated between the grasses, and was that a flamethrower?!
Percy had expected to work his way up to a proper living situation, but this was worse than he thought. Sighing, he bent down to throw another bottle into his boat. This was going to take a while.
TLDR; Percy moves to Bludhaven to deal with his growing powers because he doesn't want to be anywhere too populated or far from NYC, so the compromise is the Swamplands outside the city. Eventually, Nightwing discovers this guy bumming it in the marshes and starts using him as an informant for any criminal activities he's witness to in the area. Percy becomes the Bogeyman hermit of the marsh that people "pay" for info and is known just as 'Jackson'. He's also grown out his hair and the start of a beard and started dressing like his dad to really sell the hermit look. Not like he cares much for personal upkeep out there.
Payments include help fixing up his property, cleaning up the marshes, and food. Meanwhile, Percy sits on his shitty lawn chair sipping fruit punch and watches a bunch of goons pick up trash. It's a good trade in his opinion.
When Nightwing is surrounded one night when he's going to visit Percy for info, an alligator comes charging out of the brush and takes a goon down. The rest scatter after its siblings appear too. Turns out Percy had adopted a clutch of abandoned gator babies when their mom was killed for sport. The hunter never left the bayou after that.
Nightwing and Percy get closer after that. *eyebrow wiggle* This has gotten long for a TLDR lol I just wanted a Dick/Percy AU so let's say that eventually Dick takes Percy home with him to the Manor after getting him a haircut and Steph is like "this is not the swamp man we were promised" but Percy absolutely refuses to get rid of the Hawaiian shirts he's stolen his dad's brand and made it his own (Poseidon keeps sending him more via Hermes Express it makes him feel connected to his son).
Danny has decided Gotham has shitty food. Most restaurants are fronts for gangs or just can’t afford good ingredients.
So he decides to open his own. He’s rich enough from Vlad and Pariah Dark’s treasury. Unlike others in the city he has the money to afford good ingredients and pay employees.
He can also share food with the street kids. He knows what it’s like to grow up without good food.
There’s a new restaurant in Gotham. All the locals know it’s a front for something but that can’t figure out what. The only reason Red Hood allows it in his territory is because it gives the leftovers to the crime alley kids.
Everyone eventually moves on from it until strange disappearances start. Each one is traced back to a rude customer.
Anyone seen being rude to the owner Danny starts disappearing. The bats have taken an interest.
Dan is having the time of his life. After following Danny to Gotham without him knowing he’s been secretly protecting him. By protecting him he means killing anyone who is even remotely rude to Danny. It’s been fun.
Danny has black hair and blue eyes. But he is so painfully boring to look at. So normal that he's damn near unseen
Regular boy syndrome. Completely unworthy of interest. He's an awkward nerd with negative charisma levels
And he's so painfully used to that, being treated like a ghost when he's completely human
The only exceptional part about him is when he transforms into Danny Phantom
Cause Phantom is actually interesting to look at and be around.
I say all this to showcase a story where Danny Phantom arrives to Gotham and he's still, so invisible as he walks the streets and attends university ect.
The Bat's only get interested when Phatom makes an appearance
And it becomes a dichotomy: they ignore/pass by Danny when he's human but are comrades around Phantom
Jason falls in love with Phantom
But when Danny the human comes around, they're all like, "ugh, the civilian."
Pretty much Danny getting heartbroken that no one would ever love him while he's alive, and the realization that no one would ever love Phantom entirely because they reject his uncool side.
So Jason slowly comes to realize that Phantom, his crush, is slowly slipping from his fingers (ghosting him ) which makes him panic and he can't make sense why he's being rejected when they mesh so well
(In this entire thing, Danny doesn't reveal that he's both human and ghost)
Well, maybe he does reveal the truth but it'd be the last chapter sort of truth to share
Danny… really liked Red Hood but that's where it ended. Jason Todd’s personality was pretty ugly outside of his vigilante persona. At first he thought Oh. He does it to separate himself from Red Hood. But then he noted as their reluctant friendship went on (if one could call it that) it was like pushing a boulder up a steep hill.
Jason treated Danny as an inconvenience as all the other members of his family, who were also part of his nightly activities.
But really Danny should've known better. Once a fruitloop, always a fruitloop. That was the only reason Vlad ever had an interest in him because Danny was Phantom but as soon as Phantom transformed he was just an inconvenience that he was obligated to give some attention but only when his dad was around. If his dad remembered him…
So yeah Jason came from rich and had a secret identity with a secret liar and only paid attention to him as Phantom hence fruitloop.
But oh did he wish the bats were the exception.
Out of all the times he was paid attention to as Phantom the bats had treated him like he was part of them rather than a menace or some idol or party trick. They got along so well that Danny had felt for the first time that he belonged. Adding his civilian ID to the mix only made sense especially when he was paired up with Jason for a project.
Just like everyone else in class who were just getting to know each other Danny had presented himself to Jason as someone friendly. Which was how he was even as Phantom but for whatever reason Jason had found him to be weird.
It only got worse from there every time they met up to work on the project that soon enough Danny just went into his shell and Jason rated him horrible to team up with even though he did all his work. The only saving grace was that the professor never remembered faces and knew Danny's handwriting enough to know that Danny at least did his part even if Jason claimed he was words he'd never repeat less he wanted his core to crack.
And even though Jason expressed his displeasure working with Danny their professor kept teaming them up together. It led to moments where Danny met the bats out of suits and cemented what Danny feared. Fruitloops! Just like Vlad they did not care for him as Danny.
Danny couldn't handle the hot and cold responses, his core had marked them as Fraid after their first couple of team ups before he met them out of suits, with how they acted his core was getting mixed signals always trying to fix whatever he did wrong.
And then it happened.
They made it clear just how they thought of him.
Damian, also known as Robin, the one he thought was cute like a blob ghost, had gotten himself pinned in an alley. They were meeting Jason at the library before Damian got caught up (more like Danny had seen him and practically made Damian obligated to walk with) Danny felt his instincts to protect skyrocket. Sure the Robin was prickly in and out of the mask but Danny knew he was just secretly insecure just like every kid.
Quickly before Damian could comply and hand over his wallet to the would be robbers Danny took them down. One swift kick to their feet after knocking out the (obvious) empty gun. He brought Damian close to him only to be elbowed in the gut. He let Damian go and Damian turned face red, nose and eyebrows scrunched. When he started shouting Danny knew things were over.
“What do you think you're doing?!”
“Stopping them.”
“Don't you know you could've gotten us killed?!”
“The gun was empty.”
“And what if they had something else on hand?”
“I just wanted to save you. I wasn't thinking that but–”
“I don't need your protection!”
I don't need your protection!
I don't need your protection!
Danny stood there blankly. His core didn't shatter like how Frostbite said happened to ghost, no instead it pulsed in and out of focus like an image in photoshop with the opacity going from 0 to 100. Danny right then stopped breathing as himself. Phantom leaked through but neither Danny or Damian noticed all too caught up in emotions.
When Jason found them he started to push Danny against the wall yelling about how reckless he was. His core continued to phase in and out, his features leaked more and before Jason could see them Danny pushed him away and ran.
Danny disappeared the moment he turned the corner and Phantom reappeared with scars and cracks, powers shaky at best but got him to the realms.
If no one wanted Danny then he wouldn't let them have Phantom.
Percy couldn't say he was relieved when Luke took that knife to himself, there was too much pain in death for that to be the case.
But nonetheless, in that deep seated exhaustion that wove in his very bones, Percy just wanted everything to be over.
Then, as Luke lay dying, his bright blue eyes seared into Percy and made him promise to not forget about the demigods, to make the gods be better.
Percy knew his job wasn’t yet done, because as Luke took his last breath, the shadows overtook the throne room. The hearth just mere embers, and a magical laugh echoed around the chambers.
Annabeth was crying over Luke’s corpse and didn't seem to notice anything wrong in her grief, but Percy did. He always noticed, even though Annabeth would most likely disagree. She does call him Seaweed Brain after all. But just because Percy doesn't speak up about what he notices doesn’t mean he's dumb.
It's why, when his instincts screamed at him, he raised his sword just as a great metal scythe came sweeping down at him.
“Oh, grandson. I long since outgrow that boy's body, but you fought brilliantly. But now I am back at full power, you will not be able to stop me as you are. Still, for you to not only sense my strike, but stop it… I knew you were special. You really should have joined my side,” Kronos says, his words like honey, as he presses his scythe down upon Percy’s sword. Golden cracks were seeping from Kronos’ bronze skin, showing his divinity leaking through.
Percy snarled, his green eyes blazing with fury, “I'd rather die!”
And Percy looked over to Annabeth for help, but she was not moving, her tears frozen in time on her cheeks.
Percy froze in fear, his heart pounding. Kronos was no longer in Luke's body and his powers restricted. Kronos had his own body now, and his abilities were restored.
However, Percy’s freezing was a fatal mistake, as Kronos pressed on with more force forcing Percy’s sword from his hand.
Percy looked up, his eyes wide in fear as he stared in Kronos golden orbs.
Except as Percy’s sword came clanging to the ground and Kronos swung his scythe. The titan leveled the blade just against his throat.
Kronos croons, “Don’t worry grandson. I couldn’t possibly kill you when I see so much of myself and Rhea in your eyes.”
Percy startles and flinches as Kronos touches Percy’s face gently, pulling black strands behind his ears.
“Hmm?” Kronos hums, “Don’t worry you’ll understand in time. For now just sleep, and we’ll celebrate later when I discipline my kids.”
“Stop-” Percy says, but then he feels a pinch on the back of his neck, and everything fades to black.
The last thing he hears is Kronos’ voice comforting him…
~~~
Kronos at first hated all these mortal pests that had the blood of gods in their veins.
Mortals weren’t worthy of such a gift.
Unfortunately, Kronos needed to play along with the pests' plans in order to revive.
However, how he started to view these pests, or rather just one pest, changed when he met the son of his Poseidon, his grandson, Perseus Jackson.
Perseus was different then the other pests - demigods. He was just twelve when Kronos first slipped in his dreams, and already Pereus was powerful, defiant, but then Kronos saw his eyes, Rhea's eyes. Kronos could barely stomach it when he swallowed Poseidon, his son with Rhea's eyes.
But now it seems that another inherited her eyes. The one who would be the doom or savior of Olympus. And should die when he was sixteen.
No, this one would not be the one to fulfill the prophecy. He couldn't be.
Kronos sent the boy nightmares, hoping he would pray to his father. That Poseidon would scue the boy. Except that never happened.
And so the next thing that Kronos could do was set his vessel to poison the daughter of Zeus, so a quest would be sent and the Golden Fleece would be retrieved to not only help heal him, but the daughter of Zeus as well, so she would be the one to fulfill the prophecy.
Of course, everything went downhill from there and that daughter of Zeus ran away from the prophecy and gave it to his grandson.
Huh? When did Kronos start thinking of Perseus as his grandson? From the moment he saw Rhea's eyes.
And after his grandson saved Artemis and by holding Atlas’ weight the gods voted to kill his grandson!
As if he hasn't already saved them and proven himself before!
It made Kronos resolve to tear Olympus down all the more.
And so, even as he had to fight his grandson to do so, he would, for Perseus for power.
Of course no one but Kronos himself knew that he would never mortally injure the boy. It's why when his scythe, which is said to suck the life from one's soul, struck, Perseus was merely fatigued.
And Kronos regularly asked for updates on how Perseus is doing from that daughter of Aphrodite.
It's how he found out Perseus’ powers were growing every day, he was long on his way to ascending.
Oh, and how that daughter of Athena was trying to shackle his grandson to mortality by seducing Perseus of all things. As if that girl would ever be good enough for his grandson! She, he always calls him stupid, and tests him at every opportunity. No! Kronos would not stand for that!
Then, the final battle came. Unfortunately his spy turned traitor and died, but it didn't matter because the battle lines were drawn. And Perseus was practically glowing in his divinity.
It would be soon!
Perseus made his choice, but it was too late to stop Kronos, for he was already healed.
And Kronos fought Perseus one on one. The boy didn't even notice that he glowed, his veins golden. Too fueled by anger to stop and think why he could still move when Kronos stopped time, and that daughter of Athena did not.
Unfortunately, when he noticed that time was stopped all around him, the boy froze, and Kronos took the advantage.
And when Kronos saw the wide eyed fear in those green eyes he reassured him that he would not kill him. How could he, when he came to care for the boy?
However, Perseus startles and flinches as Kronos goes to comfort the boy by face gently, pulling black strands behind his ears.
“Hmm?” Kronos hums, knowing the boy is too brainwashed by the gods and too young to understand, “Don’t worry you’ll understand in time. For now just sleep, and we’ll celebrate later when I discipline my kids.”
“Stop-” Perseus says, but Kronos swiftly pinches a nerve on the boy's neck, and the boy slumps forward into his open arms.
Kronos whispers to his grandson comfortably and holds him like a little one to his chest, “Don't worry, I'll take care of you, my grandson.”
Notes:
Whelp! At least Kronos doesn't want Percy to die. Maybe he'll even do alright with being the new prince of the Titans.
So my silly bitch ass was thinking about dark Autobots. Not quite Shattered Glass, but similar, but like they're as evil as I want them to be! Here's just a snippet that I pumped out in a few minutes, not finalized or edited, but I had finished watching this Netflix movie, 'Leave the World Behind' and it just sparked me with an idea on how to start this. I jotted this idea down a while ago and just never got back to it- until now. Could you tell I had listened to Goosebumps by Travis Scott!? :p
Title: Goosebumps
Summary: As Sam watches aliens descend upon their planet, he realizes with horror that they're not as peaceful and freedom loving as they claim to be.
It's the cellphones that go first. Sam's not too disturbed, after all, he still has his computer.
But soon that goes too.
12 plane crashes. One day.
There are thousands of people dead. Their corpses littered the pavement. Three said flights landed in a major city, hitting five buildings, with a blast radius double their length.
Every once in a while there's an odd ringing. Worldwide.
Nationwide blackouts.
The crops stop growing.
The water is drying up faster than they can calculate.
Metal sprouts from the ground, sharp jagged edges in a brilliant silver impaling people at random.
It's no longer safe to go outside.
People start getting sick, some are dying within days, others are cured from their disease.
Situations are too dire to upkeep most public spaces. School is canceled, prisons are full of riots, people storm their capitals and raise hell until their questions are answered.
And the government is silent.
The kings and queens are silent.
Because they too, haven't the faintest idea of what will happen next- what has happened.
Sam as an inkling.
The world is ending.
And then…
Metal beasts descend from the sky. Cybertronians, they call themselves.
The Universe is under attack and Earth holds the one object to save it.
But of course, humanity figures it's not a good idea to give it to them.
If only they had known.
The steel giants show no mercy, especially after one of their own is injured in a scuffle.
Hell is unleashed in a torrent of waves. Fire. Water. Ice. Wind. Bullets.
Bombs.
Sam thinks it's funny that now everyone on Earth decides to band together to a united front. He's picked up and torn from his family to protect the very thing the aliens are here for. He doesn't quite understand why they just don't give them the damned thing.
But he guards it like his life is on the line. Because it is.
Bombs are strapped to their bodies, in case they get any lucky ideas.
But he gets good at his job. His parents are held at gunpoint, along with another dozen or so, and a cap will be put in their skull if they don't comply.
So Sam has no other choice but to be good at his job. His fuck up, fucks them up.
Maybe, he gets too good at his job. He sees too much. He watches people bargain using other people as currency. He stays guarding the AllSpark at all hours. The only exception being getting sleep and eating.
He contacts his parents once a month. He has no clue where Miles is, and sometimes it gets so much to the point where he can barely remember his name. His parents name.
He gets bored. The others don't speak to him so…
He speaks to the AllSpark.
In an interesting turn of events, it speaks back, in a way.
The giant metal cube will shift whenever he's near, panels and plates clicking and elevating, swirling in a flurry of energy around his body. For a long time in a while, he laughs, and enjoys the time he spends here.
And for all of the horrible things that the world is faced with, for all of humanity's struggles and strife, for the brink of destruction they are forced on, the very object that started it all is the one thing that brings him hope.
Imagine: Familal Yandere Stanford AND Platonic Yandere Bill, who are both obsessed with Dipper and Mabel.
REAL AS HELLLLLL!!!!!!!!!
---
“Isn't this great?” Grunkle Ford asked, taking a seat beside Dipper on the Living Human Flesh couch.
Dipper ducked away from a six-fingered hand attempting to ruffle his hair. “That's certainly an adjective you could use to describe this situation.”
“WOW!” Bill shouted (as if he had any other means of emoting.) “A three and four-syllable word in a row! He really is a chip off the ol’ block, Sixer.”
Dipper could feel Grunkle Ford's eyes on him, practically beaming at the thought that he and his grand nephew were so alike, so much so that they could be considered father and son. Never mind that it was said by an interdimensional demon.
An interdimensional demon that also happened to be currently braiding his sister's hair as they sat in front of a fireplace in the ‘penthouse suite’ of the Fearamid.
One might even think it a sweet moment between an odd family. Two great uncles, one attempting connection with his nephew, the other lounging in a recliner and trying to pretend everything was normal. And his sister, being doted on by what was one of the most powerful beings in the universe, if not every universe. Mabel might have looked happy to anyone looking in from the outside, but Dipper knew his sister better than he knew himself. If she were truly happy, she'd be grinning ear-to-ear, gabbing a mile a minute, talking to Bill about all the hair styles they could try and how he should manifest himself some hair so she could braid him next.
But no, she simply sat in silence and let Bill work through her locks. She forced a smile and stared into the fireplace, flinching whenever Bill moved too fast.
It made Dipper sick.
And maybe, maybe all of this could have been passable if this were something Stanford had been forced to do in the heat of the moment. Something he'd regretted. And that's what he claimed.
But Dipper knew. He knew Stanford was lying. He was enjoying all of this too much for him to regret it. How stupid was Dipper to think that the biggest con artist in their family was Grunkle Stan when it was the guy grinning in his face, yucking it up in the face of destruction and tragedy just because he got to play house with Bill - his so-called mortal enemy.
He wanted to believe that this wasn't Ford's plan all along. Wanted to believe that his great uncle had been corrupted or mind controlled or tortured past the point of sanity. That this wasn't what he'd set out to do from the beginning. But Dipper didn't know what to believe anymore.
“WA-BAM!” Bill snapped a full-length mirror into existence, allowing Mabel to see what he'd done to her hair, “Whaddaya say, Shooting Star?”
A simple French braid, with little glittery stars woven into her hair. In any other case, Mabel would have been ecstatic. But now, Mabel simply looked up at the demon, an unsure grin forced onto her face.
“Thanks, Bill,” She managed, not able to look him in the eye.
“Ah, ah, ah,” Bill waggled a finger in her face. “Try again.”
Mabel's face sank momentarily and she locked eyes with Dipper. The look in her eyes… It was like she was trying to scream so many things at once through expression alone. It felt like forever, the twins trying to communicate to each other in silence, but it was probably less than a second. If seconds even existed anymore.
Then, Mabel looked up at Bill and put on her best smile. “Thank you, Grunkle Bill, I love it.”
‘Grunkle Bill.’ Ugh. Dipper couldn't help the disgusted grimace that made its way onto his face. He thought he'd hated the triangle when he was actively trying to kill them all, but that was so much worse.
“See that, Pinetree?” Cipher whipped around, floating above the boy. “Why can't you be more like your sister?”
“Oh, Bill,” Ford waved him off with a smile and roll of his eyes. No malice, no contempt, just exasperated fondness.
“I'm just sayin’! We're trying to do family bonding over here, but Pinetree and Fez are being a coupla sticks in the mud!”
“He and Stanley just need more time,” Ford replied, speaking as if either of them weren't there.
Dipper felt sick. Sick from anger, sick from betrayal, sick from utter disgust. Bill's actions were understandable from the perspective that he was a creature from a different dimension. A monster without any need to identify with human morality systems. But Ford was human. A human with family and people who loved him and trusted him and counted on him. A human whose world had been destroyed because of his allegiance to a monster. Because of his feelings for a monster. And he just expects them all to be okay with this? To smile and clap and nod along and pretend everything is okay?
Mabel spoke up, drawing Dipper from his thoughts. “Well, um, Grunkle Bill, if we're doing family bonding time… Would you wanna meet me and Dipper's parents?”
“Say, that's an idea,” Bill turned to Ford. “Whaddaya say, Fordsie?’
Dipper whipped his head back to face his great uncle. He bit his tongue, holding his breath. He felt himself screaming from behind his eyes, trying to will his uncle with his gaze, hoping his expression was enough to implore him to say yes, to be merciful, to at least give him and Mabel their parents back.
“I…” Ford breathed. “No, I don't think so.”
“WHAT?” Dipper couldn't control his outburst, his shout loud and sudden enough to make his great uncle jump.
“Sixer, c'mon,” Stan spoke up.
“You said it yourself, Stanley, the only ones you count as family are the children.” Ford countered.
“That was- I didn't mean it.”
“Still,” Ford crossed his arms. “I have no loyalty to them. This is for the best,” Then, the old man turned back to Dipper. “You'll understand one day.”
Dipper glared up at his uncle, baring his teeth so hard he would have sworn they would have broken. But then, a noise broke his concentration.
He turned to see his sister, her sweater pulled over her head as she rocked back and forth, sniffling and surely crying underneath.
“AWW, now look what you did, Pinetree,” Bill chided, daring to pet at the bit of hair that peeked out of Mabel’s sweater. “You made your sister cry!”
“Me?” Dipper balked, incredulous.
A six-fingered hand came down to Dipper's shoulder for a comforting squeeze - and the boy bristled with rage, wrenching himself away and off of the couch. Every inch of Dipper's body was over one with disgust, with anger, with hatred. Just looking at Stanford made him sick.
“I hate you,” Dipper spat, trying to fight the tears welling in his eyes. “You're a monster and you're not my uncle anymore.”
Just for a brief moment, Dipper felt satisfaction at the look of absolute hurt on Stanford's face. Then, he all but dove into his Grunkle Stan's hold, burying his face into his jacket. Stan held him protectively, one hand holding the back of his head and the other rubbing soothing circles into his back. And for a few moments, Dipper can pretend he and Mabel were back at the shack and he'd had a nightmare or something and needed reassurance from his uncle. Something he should have grown out of, something Stan would give him shit for later, but even still, Stan would have let him settle into the recliner and drift off to sleep to the sounds of Gravity Falls’ public access TV.
“Please, he didn't mean it,” Mabel's voice was barely above a whisper as she pleaded. “Don't be mad at him.”
“He's just scared,” Stan added, holding Dipper tight. “We all are.”
“There's no reason to be,” Ford insisted. “Dipper, please, look at me. You're my s- my, my nephew and I love you. None of this is meant to hurt you.”
He sure had a funny way of showing it.
He could hear Bill let out a frustrated groan. “Alright, I think this has gone on LONG ENOUGH.”
In a flash, Dipper was suddenly back on the flesh couch, cuddled up next to his not-so-great uncle Ford. He couldn't bear to look at him, simply staring ahead. At his sister. At the fire. At Cipher.
The triangle spoke. “Now, kid, I get this is a big change and all, but the only reason Gravity Falls and all your little friends have been left untouched is because of your uncle here. I think you should be a little more grateful. That is… Unless you don't want your friends to be safe?”
A sneer overtook Dipper's face. All of the anger boiling inside him threatened to burst out in the form of calling Bill every curse word he knew - and even the ones he didn't.
But he knew better. Dipper gritted his teeth. “No, I do.”
“Then, I feel an apology is in order!”
“Sorry,” Dipper mumbled noncommittally.
“Not to ME, Pinetree,” The demon laughed. “Though, I appreciate the thought!”
Dipper let out a shuddering sigh. Slowly, as though just looking in Ford's direction took great effort, he managed to meet his great uncle's eyes. And he had the gall to look condescending. As if Dipper were just a child throwing a tantrum.
He hated him. He hated him more than anything. He couldn't believe he ever believed in him, ever obsessed over his work, ever thought he was great, ever thought he was a hero, ever thought to leave behind his sister to follow someone like him.
“...I'm sorry, Great Uncle Ford,” Dipper spoke robotically. “I didn't mean what I said. I don't hate you. You're still my uncle.”
“ANNND?” Bill egged him on.
“And. I love you.”
Ford had the audacity to smile. To open his arms wide. To ask, “How about a hug?”
Dipper felt he had no choice. As he was wrapped into a hug by the man who'd betrayed his family, betrayed the world, betrayed the universe, Dipper let himself bury his face into Ford's turtleneck. At least he could hide his tears now.
For a second, it felt as if his hat had disappeared from his head. A four-fingered hand ruffled through his locks affectionately. Then, his hat was back in place.
Dipper fought not to be ill.
“Say, how about an ‘I love you’ for your Grunkle Bill, huh?”
…
“Not now? Eh, that's fine! We've got an eternity for you to come around!”
He knew that his interest in Maddie was starting to fade, but his attention shifted to Daniel.
The desire to have him burned inside his chest. His hands hitched with the desire to give him everything, to have him be his, to keep the naive teenager in a glass case so nobody could put their filthy hands on him.
With time, his obsession started to bloom into something sick and violent.
Like a natural disaster, Vlad swept Danny’s family out of the picture (alive or not) to force him to always be next to him.
And Danny…
Danny is ill.
Ill because Vlad separated him from everybody, because he doesn’t make him fulfill his obsession, because he is punished, and because Vlad always seems to want more from him.
He wants so much more that, soon enough, Daniel turns out to be a disappointment.
The standards started to become too high. Etiquette, isolation, training, and the draining of ectoplasm were starting to wear him thin.
But having him it’s not a total waste of resources.
Vlad could always try for a new heir.
Tim forces himself not to snarl in disgust as he sees one of the guests slide his hand around the teenager next to him.
He sees his hand squeeze the kid’s shoulders as the poor boy’s eyes start to space out.
That slimy smile was something Tim had seen too many times, and he subtly brought it to the attention of the whole family.
He saw Brude get Masters's attention, making him lose his grip on the young boy, as both Cassandra and Damian got him away.
Now, it was Tim’s turn to do something, as he slipped away from the crowd to do some research on the man.
A comedy version of Abigail where the 400-year-old 12-year-old (yes i googled the year NYC was founded as the earliest she could have been turned) didn't know she was susceptible to modern poisons and wakes up after being kidnapped from her house (yes she looks 12 but she’s looked that way since before the invention of the piano. She doesn’t need to live with her dad.) And the vampire mob enforcer is just like "....is this...a prank?" Who tf would kidnap Kristoff Lazar's child even if they had no idea who she was.
Joey: We won't hurt you, we promise.
Little Ballerina Child waking up chained to a bed: Say sike right now.
You stood inside a hidden servant's passage, watching as the royal ball took place. Out there, sitting proudly on their thrones, was the royal family. Well, most of them anyway, but you didn't technically count. You had been the result of an affair between the king and a maid and your birth had caused an uproar in the palace.
The queen had done everything to get rid of the person causing her so much embarrassment by accusing your mother of everything she could. Adultery, thievery, witchcraft. She was barely a day postpartum when she'd been burned at the stake in front of the palace. The maids, however, had saved you with the king's permission. That was the only thing he'd ever done for you.
The head maid raised you, teaching you to stay out of sight and out of mind. She had some level of pity and care for you, but not enough to make you feel welcomed here. Now you were about to turn 14, the age when you would've made your debut and joined noble society. The day when you would've been announced as one of the heirs in line for the throne.
Instead you were hidden away, the secret bastard child of King Peter. You pretended to be unbothered, smiling away the hurt and anger you felt as you did your daily chores. Overtime. you had grown tired of always watching from within the walls and tonight it finally caught up with you.
You turned, dashing through the corridors as you made your way towards the kitchen. The head maid spared you a single pitied glance before returning to her work as you dashed out the door into the garden.
You ignored the rare plants and magnificent decor, a mission in mind. You headed straight towards the outer wall and climbed up to the top, using the gaps in the stone as foot and handholds. From up here you could watch the ocean and beach below the cliffs the castle stood on.
It was a cloudy night and you strained to see whatever you could when the moon was briefly free of the cloud cover. A few seconds of moonlight illuminated a speck on the water below. The next time the clouds shrank away from the moon they were closer. You realized it must be a boat, probably a merchant ship heading south to the next kingdom over.
You sat there, watching in glimpses as the ship sailed around the island, out of your sight. Maybe they were heading for the port. Maybe they were heading for the next kingdom. You honestly didn't care too much other than wishing you had the freedom to sail wherever you wanted.
Although, thinking about boats reminded you of a really cool shell you'd found down at the beach last time you snuck down there. It had been a while since you'd gone, maybe you'd ditch your chores tomorrow to go see it.
Eventually, you climbed down the wall and headed back inside the palace to go to bed. You fell asleep quickly, exhausted from the emotional toll of the day and all the chores you'd done. You were long asleep when the head maid peeked into your room. After assessing you were safe and sound she walked off to continue with her work, making a mental note for the next time the king asked about you.
The ocean was cool and felt like bliss on your legs as you scanned the beach. You'd snuck away from the head maid, taking the long route to get here. While you did have to go all the way around to the beach by the main port before you could climb the rocky outcrops to reach the north beach, it was worth it.
You'd already found some perfect scallop shells and an iridescent muscle shell. You wandered the shoreline, constantly checking the sand for anything that caught your eye. It was when you reached down to pick up a sand dollar did you feel a strong arm grab you by the waist and hoist you up.
"Well, well, well. What kind of treasure do we have here?" A deep voice asked. You struggled as hard as you could, dropping your shells in the process.
"Let me go!" You demanded, but your struggles were useless against a man way stronger than you were. He easily contained you until you'd tired yourself out. It was then he'd turned you around in his arms, holding you bridal style.
The man wore a crown, similar to King Peter's. He was probably a neighboring king, here as an invited guest to the ball last night. Your eyes locked with his brown ones. You both stared at each other before he smirked down at you.
"What is a maid's child doing all the way out here?" He asked, guessing your profession by the dull and worn out clothing you wore. You glared at him in annoyance.
"I'm collecting shells. Put me down." You demanded again. You were getting angry now, starting to squirm again.
"Where are your parents, child? You're a long way from the castle." The man asked. He finally put you down after an exceptionally harsh glare from you. You dusted off your clothes before picking up the shells you'd dropped before.
"I don't have parents." You answered, inspecting a razor clam shell. You decided against adding it to your growing collection and headed further down the beach. The man followed after you.
"You're too young to be out here alone. Did you scale the rocks to get here?" The man asked. You nodded, picking up a small spiral shaped shell and adding it to your pile. "That was very dangerous. If you slipped you would've fallen into the ocean. Do you even know how to swim?"
"I don't slip, I know how not to." You answered simply. The man hummed for a moment before his eyes lit up, not that you could see with your back turned.
"I know exactly what you need." He said, striding over and picking you up again. This time you held onto your shells as he started carrying you down the beach.
"Hey! I'm not a kid! You can't just pick me up whenever!" You snapped, giving him a dirty look. He just smiled.
"I think, as your new father, I can do anything I want."
"N- new what?!" You shrieked, trying to squirm and roll your way out of his arms.
"You see, I was planning to come here to send your little king a message. My empire could really use some of the resources but King Peter refuses to trade with us over some past issues. But now," the man grinned down at you. "Now not only do I have an heir, but I will also have the resources I need as soon as King Peter realizes his choices are to trade with me or watch his kingdom burn. He will surrender and I will have everything I need."
Your mouth was open in horror. This wasn't a guest, but a blatant enemy. Then again... what had King Peter ever done for you? Why did you feel any obligation to stop this? But at the same time, what about the servants who had raised you? What about the head maid who was your sole mother figure.
All you could do was desperately struggle as he carried you down the beach.
"You asked for me, my king?" The head maid said, bowing as she entered his study. Peter just sighed, waving her closer.
"Stop it with the formalities. You know why I called you here and you know what I want." He said, his voice commanding. The head maid just nodded.
"Y/N has been a little down lately. I think it's partially jealousy over their place compared to your other children. They snuck out to the garden last night during the ball, but were in bed and asleep when I checked on them." She reported.
"Jealous hmm..." Peter hummed, a storm of emotions flickering through his eyes. "And where are they right now?"
"Probably down at the beach, my king. They skipped out on their chores today."
"When they return, send them to me. I think it's finally time we had a little chat." He said, dismissing her.
"Yes, my king."
Your 'new father' gripped your wrists to keep you from hitting as he carried you aboard the ship. You didn't care about the spectacle you were making as you tried your hardest to fight back with just your legs. Clearly you were drawing some attention when a man limped up to your captor with an annoyed glare.
"Lucas! You can't just suddenly wander off like that! You know fully well that your men don't listen to me!" The man seethed. He looked similar to your 'father', or Lucas as you now knew. They had the same green eyes and plethora of freckles, but Lucas had fiery red hair while the second man had dark brown. The second man supported himself on an ornate cane as he stood in front of Lucas.
"Darling, meet my little brother, Pierre." Your 'father' introduced, finally setting you down but not releasing your wrists. You froze as Pierre's mouth dropped open in shock. He glanced back and forth between you and Lucas for a while before he let out a long suffering sigh.
"Did you kidnap a child, Lucas? Really?!" Pierre asked. He limped closer to you, using his sleeve to wipe some stray sand off of your face.
"You always make everything sound so bad, Pierre. They said they had no parents so theres no one to kidnap them from. It's an adoption." Lucas insisted. Pierre rolled his eyes, carefully looking you over.
"You poor thing. Look at these dreadful rags..." Pierre frowned at your clothing and Lucas nodded.
"Indeed. Can you schedule a fitting for them once we return? Both for a new wardrobe and a crown. Until then though, I should be able to scrounge up something a little better." Lucas said. Pierre nodded before gesturing over to a knight who was waiting patiently.
"Go talk to your men, brother. I'll run them a bath while you're busy. I'll also get them some clothes, you wouldn't know proper fashion if it was standing right in front of you." Pierre chastised. He gently led you away from Lucas and towards a private cabin.
You felt cleaner than you had in ages. Not only were you allowed to use hot water, and the most expensive hair products and soaps, but Pierre had spent a while just brushing your hair for you. He was, in your opinion, the only upside to the spontaneous kidnapping. You'd never had someone take care of you like this before.
Pierre had dressed you in one of Lucas' shirts, and some deer hide trousers. The trousers were likely borrowed from some junior knight because they were only a little loose. The shirt, on the other hand, swamped you and Pierre had to cuff the sleeves for it to fit properly.
At some point, the adrenaline had worn off, leaving you sleepy, but irritable. You were actually enjoying having your hair brushed, Pierre's hands gentle and caring, when the cabin door had flung open with Lucas standing in the doorway.
"Thank you, Pierre. How about you go tend to your leg, hm?" Pierre huffed, looking annoyed and uncertain, but eventually did what Lucas asked.
Upon being alone, he grabbed you again which caused you to glare at him again. He carried you over to the small desk in the cabin, placing you on his lap as he inspected something. It horrified you to realize it was a map of the castle.
He held you closer when you tried to squirm away. His grip tightened to near painful, only relenting when you finally stopped resisting. He just chuckled, placing a kiss on the top of your damp hair as he took notes on the side of the map.
It took a long time for the exhaustion you'd felt earlier to come back to haunt you. When it did you resisted as long as you could before your body involuntarily relaxed into his. He placed down his pen when that happened, a dark look in his eyes as his interest shifted from the map to you.
"Don't worry darling, we'll be able to head home soon. I promise you my empire is way more impressive than this. The castle has a private beach attached where you can go scavenge for shells every day if you wish." Lucas promised you, ruffling your hair as you drifted off.
⊹ ࣪ ﹏𓊝﹏﹏𓂁﹏⊹ ࣪ ˖
Pierre was the one who took care of you that night. He fed you dinner and tucked you into bed. Lucas had already left with his knights to storm the castle, minus a couple who were guarding your door. You'd never been tucked into bed before, and the weight of quality blankets mixed with a full stomach made your eyes go half lidded.
You were a goner before Pierre started reading to you from a book he'd pulled from one of Lucas' shelves. In an instant you had fallen asleep, Pierres soothing voice carrying your mind to the realm of dreams.
⊹ ࣪ ﹏𓊝﹏﹏𓂁﹏⊹ ࣪ ˖
"I'm surprised you didn't try and run with them." Pierre didn't turn to look at Lucas. Even from where he sat at your bedside he could smell the metallic scent of blood. His brother always got more trigger happy after a kill.
"And run where?" He asked, closing the book and laying it in his lap. He still refused to look at Lucas, keeping his eyes trained on your sleeping figure.
"Smart boy. You've learned since last time." There was a rustle from behind him and a few minutes later Lucas stepped into his view. He was just wearing his pants and boots, shirt, cape and armor abandoned. "How's your leg brother?"
Pierre growled, anger growing. "You would know, wouldn't you? Seeing as you're the one who broke it." Not only had Lucas broken it, he'd also made sure it never healed correctly, leading to the limp.
"Today must be a bad day then. Seeing as you're so grouchy and you were actually using the cane I got you."
"You know just as well as I do that you're going to hurt them. At some point they'll do something, just like I did, and you'll snap at them too." Pierre said, standing from the chair and finally meeting his eyes. Lucas only smirked, an evil look on his face.
"Family is very important to me. They'll learn that just as you have, brother. Now be a dear and go get some sleep, hm? You've had enough time with them today."
Pierre left the cabin with a sick feeling in his stomach. One of the knights standing guard immediately started to escort him to his own cabin. As he looked up at the stars, past the smoke rising from the now burning castle and ignoring the screaming of the people of this kingdom, he hoped you would escape and lead a happier, and freer, life then he had ever been able to.
⊹ ࣪ ﹏𓊝﹏﹏𓂁﹏⊹ ࣪ ˖
Peter clenched his fists as he watched his castle burn. His eldest son was commanding the guards to douse the fire and find the queen. His other children were crying, his youngest daughter clinging to his pants. He knew they wouldn't find her alive, he'd already taken care of her before the fire had broken out.
He was about to take over from his son, to redirect the guards to helping civilians, when the head maid came running over, her face streaked with ash. Her eyes looked panicked as she approached him.
"My king, Y/N is missing." With those words the anger burning inside him was stoked into a raging inferno. "One of the guards said they saw a ship flying the flag of the Ashefall Kingdom docked down at North Beach!"
His mind raced as he realized what that meant. You'd gone to the beach today. You had been down by the ship. Had they captured you? Were you being tortured? Had that savage monster killed you? He growled, realizing if he'd been able to get rid of his wife sooner, this never would have happened.
You'd have been raised alongside your siblings as a royal. You would've been escorted by guards wherever you went. No one could have ever laid a finger on you. He growled as he stormed past the burning palace, easily scaling the garden wall. He watched as a tiny ship cruised past the shore, even from up there he could see the maroon flags blowing in the wind.
"Mark my words. I will get my vengeance, for my kingdom and for Y/N." He promised, glaring down at the boat as it sailed away.
Everyone in the Batfamily knows Tim Drake has… issues with boundaries. They’ve spent years trying to teach him what’s appropriate and what’s—well—deeply unsettling and completely invasive. To be fair, he’s learned. Mostly. He doesn’t stalk his family anymore (much), and he no longer pulls up files on every single person they talk to (okay, maybe just sometimes). But it’s progress.
But then Tim starts dating Danny Fenton. And, oh boy, a few screws come loose.
It starts small, as always. Just little things. Tim’s a detective, after all—background checks are second nature. Danny’s living in Gotham, and Gotham isn’t safe. So, really, what’s the harm in knowing a little more about Danny’s friends? And his professors? And maybe also his classmates? It’s just standard protocol. Okay?
“Tim, you’ve run a full dossier on my entire biology class?” Danny asks one day, laughing as he flips through a file on the coffee table.
Tim shrugs. “What if one of them is dangerous?”
“Pretty sure the most dangerous thing in that class is the midterm.”
Danny doesn’t think much of it. He’s a little flattered, even. Tim’s protective. It’s sweet.
But Tim’s mind doesn’t stop there. Danny’s too handsome. Too charming. What if someone tries to hurt him? What if someone tries to take him away? It’s not obsessive—it’s just concern. So, a tracker on Danny’s phone? Necessary. Cameras in his apartment? Standard. Monitoring his sleeping patterns and hangout spots? Logical.
Tim tells himself it’s love. And maybe a little insecurity.
“You have a tracker on his phone?” Dick asks, trying not to sound alarmed.
Tim nods, like it’s the most normal thing in the world. “Of course. What if something happens to him?”
“And the cameras?”
“Safety.”
“The background checks on his professors?”
“Gotham U isn’t exactly known for its stellar staff, Dick.”
It doesn’t stop there. Tim knows everything. Danny’s eating habits, his favorite places to go when he’s stressed, his childhood allergies. Tim’s mapped out Danny’s entire life. He knows about Danny’s ghost powers too—of course he does. He’s Tim Drake. The moment he realized Danny was Phantom, it just… clicked.
Danny being half-ghost? That’s just one more reason to worry. Tim’s up late at night, watching for any signs of ectoplasmic interference. He tracks the energy spikes. He monitors Danny’s fights.
He doesn’t think Danny knows. He’s terrified of what will happen if he finds out.
But then he does.
One evening, Danny walks into Tim’s apartment and casually drops a folder on the table. Tim’s heart stops.
“What’s this?” Danny asks, raising an eyebrow.
Tim swallows hard. “I… it’s just…”
“You’ve been tracking me?” Danny opens the file, glancing through pages of surveillance reports, background checks, even analysis of his ectoplasmic energy. Tim feels like his world is about to shatter.
“I… I can explain,” Tim says, his voice tight. “I’m just… worried about you. You’re in danger all the time, and I—”
Danny walks over, cupping Tim’s face in his hands. Tim braces for the worst.
But Danny just smiles. “Can I put a tracker on you too?”
Tim blinks. “What?”
Danny kisses his cheek. “If you’re watching my back, it’s only fair I watch yours. I need to make sure you’re safe too.”
Tim stares at him, speechless. Danny doesn’t look scared. Or angry. He looks… fond. Like Tim’s obsessive tendencies aren’t a problem at all.
“I’ve never had someone care about me this much,” Danny says softly. “I trust you with my life, Tim. This? This just proves how serious you are.”
Tim thinks he’s just fallen deeper in love.
-------------------
The Batfamily? They’re worried.
Jason corners Tim in the cave. “Okay, so let me get this straight. You’ve got cameras in his apartment. You’ve mapped out his entire life. You’ve got a tracker on him and a heartbeat monitor. And he’s… fine with it?”
Tim nods, a dreamy smile on his face. “Yeah. He even wants to put a tracker on me.”
“That’s not… healthy, Tim,” Dick says carefully. “That’s—”
“It’s mutual,” Tim interrupts. “We’re protecting each other.”
Bruce pinches the bridge of his nose. “Tim, this isn’t how relationships are supposed to work.”
Tim shrugs. “It’s how ours works.”
Damian watches the whole thing with narrowed eyes. “This is deeply unsettling,” he mutters.
They try to talk to Danny. Intervention style. They invite him over, sit him down, and gently (or not so gently) try to explain that Tim’s behavior isn’t normal.
Danny just laughs. “You guys do know I’m half-ghost, right?”
“That doesn’t mean—” Dick starts.
“I spent my entire life being hunted by ghost hunters. I’ve had worse invasions of privacy.” Danny smiles. “Tim cares. He keeps me safe. That’s all I need.”
The bats don't quite know what to say.
-------------------
Tim and Danny, two slightly unhinged souls who think mutual surveillance is the ultimate act of love.
The bats? They’re just trying to keep up.
(“At least they’re happy?” Barbara offers weakly.
Bruce sighs. “For now.”)
Gotham’s version of love was never going to be normal. But this? This is a whole new level.
Danny is tired but happy he told his parents about him being Phantom and they took it surprisingly well. Sure they were sad but accepted what happened. It was all to good to be true so Danny remained on his guard around his parents.
But as time passed nothing happend and his parents became even more supportive of him. After finding out about Danny and how he became a halfa it was easy for the to figure out Vlad after an epic beat down of one Vladimer Masters The Fenton parents forced vlad to use his influence to get rid of the GIW
After all of that Danny finally felt himself relax all the tension left his body and he fell asleep. just a little nap.
At this time, the still unknown king of the infinite realms gained a new power. This is also when Danny begins his sleepwalking adventures.
The first time it happend the Fenton family had no idea what to do Danny had just created a portal in the middle of town and sleep walked right into it and reappeared out of a another portal on top of the school.
The next time it happened, Danny had fallen asleep in Mr. Lancers' class when he suddenly stood up, created a portal, and walked through it while also transforming into his Phantom form. Needless to say, Danny's identity as Phantom was no longer a secret in Amity Park after that.
Danny, of course, has no idea this is even happening. No one has the heart to tell him when he has finally started to relax. The people of Amity Park quickly got used to Danny randomly popping up in places via a portal, so much so that there was a segment called Sleeping Phantom Watch on the news. This was the new normal until one day Danny Portals away, and no one has any idea where he is.
The bat fam had just sat down for dinner when a lazerus green portal appeared in the dining room. Everyone freezes, watching the portal, when a white-haired teen walks out.
Everyone is immediately on their feet, ready for battle,e yelling at the white-haired boy as the portal closes behind him
"what are you doing here" Bruse growls using his Batman voice the boy doesn't respond just stands in place
Damian rushes towards the boy and presses his sword to the intruder's neck. "he asked you a question." still no response
Soon, the boy was surrounded, and they got ready to attack when the white-haired teen let out a loud snore. "Wait, is he..." Tim gets closer to look at the boy and waves a hand in front of the boy's face, who snorts. "He's sleep"
"What, no way " Dick leans forward to see for himself just as the white-haired boy starts walking again and walks straight through Dicks body as if he wasn't even there Panic erupts as Dick pats his body down, shivering "S..so cold"
The boy keeps walking, and they can't grasp him. Then another portal shows up in front of the boy, who walks through it, and it closes instantly after him.
After that, the Bat fam kept seeing the sleep-waking portaling teen all over Gotham.
During one of his sessions, he interrupted the joker who had kidnapped Jason and Damian, but this time, he wasn't alone. Behind him was a tiny green puppy who was pulling on his pant leg, trying to drag the boy back through the portal when it closed, leaving the boy and dog.
The dog seems to cover his snout in frustration, and honestly, Jason and Damian could understand. But of course, Joker had to ruin the mood.
"Well, well, what have we here?" He grins, getting into the boys's faces. "An uninvited guest, how I hate party crashers. How about I introduce you to my friend Pain. Tell me what hurts more. I never get a straight answer." Joker cackles and swings a crowbar at the boy's head
Jason and Damian yell, hoping to wake the boy up as the weapon comes down. A loud growl makes the joker pause before he could land a hit and he looks down to see the puppy growling fiercly at him standing in front of the boy. "Out of the way, mutt!!" Joker yells, kicking at the dog
A move he would quickly regret as the dog grew and grew and grew until it was the size of a large Bear with teeth bigger and longer than jokers arms which was proven as the dog proceeded to tear said arm and crowbar off jokers body
The clown screams in horror as the once tiny harmless looking puppy procedes to tear his limbs off. Soon the Joker was nothing but a head with a body. The dog was about to finish off the joker and bite his head off when the boy starts walking towards another portal.
The dog shrinks and chases after the boy before the portal closes.
Jason and Damian looked down at the crying limbless joker, and Jason burst out laughing, "That was the best thing I had ever seen in my life."
From then on, every time the mysterious sleepwalking boy appeared in Gotham, Jason was there with Damian, offering the dog treats and pets and helping the poor pup take care of his sleeping boy.
As for the rest of Gotham, they, like the Amity parkers, had become accustomed to the boy and his dog magically appearing in random places. No one bothered them, and after what happened to the Joker, none of the other Gotham rouges would even dare touch him if he showed up near them with the dog.
And if the dog wasn't there, well, the giant werewolf and the yeti were enough of a deterrent.
i loved your platonic tenth doctor fic sm 💞 would you ever consider doing a pt.2? maybe with the reader sort of figuring out what’s up and trying to get back on their own
I would love to do a part two, I'm so happy to hear you liked it! (Part one is here for anyone who wants to read it first)
Platonic! yandere/dark! Tenth Doctor x teen reader; you discover he's purposely keeping you from leaving
Tw: yandere/dark content, gender neutral reader, the Doctor has possessive tendencies due to seeing the reader as his child, not technically kidnapping but the Doctor goes to great lengths to make sure the reader won't/can't leave so there's that
After your conversation with the Doctor about returning home to earth, you went to your room on the TARDIS and began packing. Part of you felt bad for possibly hurting his feelings (after all, you were currently his only companion, and while you didn't get the whole story you knew he had others before you that met less than ideal fates) but you couldn't just stay with him forever. You knew you had to go back home eventually.
The next day when you found him, he was fiddling with the control panel and humming cheerfully to himself. It was as if you'd never even spoken about leaving the day before.
"Um, Doctor?"
He looked up immediately when he heard your voice, a bright smile covering his face. "Ah, there you are! I was just waiting for you before I put the coordinates in for our next adventure. Are you ready to go?"
You made a visible face of confusion at his words. Next adventure? What was that supposed to mean?
"No, Doctor, I'm not. I already told you, I have to go home now."
His right eye twitched slightly with irritation as you mentioned that word again- "home". It wasn't fair that you kept talking about it as if your time with him didn't matter. I mean, he didn't even have a home to go back to, and he was perfectly fine. He learned how to become a well adjusted Time Lord after some time he assured himself while lying.
"Yeah, yeah. I know that." He waved his hand dismissively as if it was no big deal. "I just figured you'd want to go on one last trip before you had to leave. You know, just to cap off everything."
The exhaustion still in your body was screaming at you to say no, but he looked so hopeful as he stared at you with his big brown puppy dog eyes that you ended up saying yes despite yourself.
"You know what? Sure, why not. One last trip, to commemorate our time together."
The Doctor beamed with joy at your words, estatic that he was able to make you relent so quickly. "Great! Now, let's be off, then. Allonsy!"
It would just be one quick trip, you thought to yourself as the TARDIS started up, prepared to take you wherever you decided to go. It wouldn't take too long, and them he'd take you back home as soon as you were done.
So sure that you were right, you didn't even bother to keep track of the amount of time the two of you spent adventuring that day, which meant the Doctor was able to keep suggesting more and more things for you to do on your "last day" without any fuss. By the time you finally made it back to the TARDIS, you were exhausted, heading straight to bed without any more mentions of returning home for the time being.
The Time Lord was beside himself with delight as he realized his plan on keeping you too busy and tired to even think about leaving was beginning to work. He kept at it day after day, insisting that you just needed one more adventure to top it all off, just one extra trip. And because you didn't want to upset him by declining, you said yes to every single one.
This all came to a head the day he momentarily put his plan on pause due to the TARDIS needing repairs. It had been beeping nonstop at him for the past four days, and he'd finally had enough. He parked the TARDIS and told you to stay put, not that you had the energy to go anywhere.
While he was out for supplies, you finally got the chance to relax somewhat. Deciding to spoil yourself with this newfound free time, you took a long bath and put on your comfiest clothes before settling yourself in one of the several armchairs adorning the TARDIS library. You were just about to pick up something to read when the TARDIS started beeping again.
"I know you need repairs, he'll be back soon, don't worry," you tried to reassure it, but it simply ignored you and continued on.
Letting out a somewhat exasperated sigh, you set down your book and got up, making your way to the control room. "What seems to be the problem here?"
The TARDIS made a chirping sound as it brought up the coordinates that would take you back to the time and place of your home on earth.
You frowned in confusion, your brow furrowing as you studied the screen. The Doctor had been complaining about how it had been malfunctioning lately, so it's possible that what the screen was currently displaying could mean nothing.
In reality it had actually been scolding him for keeping you from your family on earth, but of course he ignored it, meaning it decided to take drastic measures in order to help get you back home.
"Yeah, that's my home. What about it?"
Something that sounded like a huff of annoyance came from the control panel. What its next few beeps meant you couldn't know for sure, but you were almost positive it had called you stupid.
"Hey, I'm doing my best here! I'm not a Time Lord, how would I know what you want?"
You could practically feel the way it was rolling its eyes at you before pulling up all the other places you'd been to recently. The log dated that they'd all been auto-saved on the same day, the day you told the Doctor you wanted to go back home.
A chill went down your spine as you realized he'd planned this out all ahead of time, knowing you'd be far too exhausted to argue if he kept taking you on one trip after another.
"Wait, why are you showing me this? What does this all mean?"
The TARDIS let out a few more beeps as it showed you the coordinates for earth again. It seemed to be trying to tell you something, but it was hard to know what it was exactly.
"Are you... are you trying to say that I should make my way back home, all by myself? Without the Doctor?"
The affirmative chattering of beeps and boops that came next told you the answer was yes. Now that you thought about it, the TARDIS seemed to be working perfectly fine, bringing you to the conclusion it had lied to the Doctor on purpose in order to help you.
"That's great and all, but I don't know how to manage these controls. I'd probably cause us to crash before we ever got there." You rolled your eyes at the noises it made in response. "Yes, I realize the Doctor crashes you all the time, and no, I don't want to take that risk. At least he knows how to fix you afterwards."
Your argument was cut short by a series of anxious beeps, the TARDIS frantically trying to warn you of the Doctor returning. You could hear him cursing from the outside as he tried to get in through the doors, the TARDIS having apparently locked him out.
"I can't fly you. I don't even know how to work all these buttons and knobs on your control panel." The sad and dejected boop it let out made you give it a look of sympathy. "I'm sorry, but I'll have to get home some other way."
The doors finally opened, the Doctor nearly falling over as he entered. "Ah, there you are! I was just about to look for you. We should be ready to leave for our next trip once I've fixed whatever's wrong with the controls."
The TARDIS made an offended noise at the implication that there was something wrong with it, which both you and the Doctor ignored.
"Actually, I was wondering when you were going to take me back home."
The grin on his face immediately dropped at you words. "Home? You want to go home now?"
You hesitated briefly, not exactly sure what to think after the recent discoveries you'd made involving him trying to keep you from leaving. Surely he wouldn't do anything to actually hurt you, but you decided to tread carefully regardless.
"Well, yeah. I miss my family, and I'm sure they must be missing me. And I can always come back to travel with you again, you know." You added the last bit in hopes of easing the apparent pain of him losing you.
"But I'm your family now," he insisted in an almost pleading manner, gesturing to the inside of the machine. "This is your home. I don't understand why you'd ever want to leave any of this."
The Doctor shot the control panel a dirty look when it made a noise that sounded like sarcastic muttering. "Besides, I can offer so much more than they can. Can they take you anywhere in time and space? I don't think so."
"I'm not your family, Doctor," you blurted out in a desperate attempt to get him to see reason. "I'm not. I'm not your kid, and this isn't my home. I need to get back to my real home with my real family."
He turned away from you, resting his hands on the control panel so he wouldn't fall over from shock. His hands gripped onto the side of it so tightly his knuckles turned white.
"Doctor...?" You questioned gently, starting to feel bad for what you'd said. "Are you alright?"
Shaking his head, he responded in a quiet voice. "No, I'm not." He sighed as he leaned over the controls. "You're right, I'm not your family."
You felt a tiny bit of hope bloom within you despite yourself, hope that maybe, just maybe he was starting to see reason.
"So, does this mean-" You began eagerly before he suddenly cut you off.
"But that doesn't mean I'm going to let you leave, just like that." He turned back towards you, his face hardened as he gave you a look of determination. "Maybe I'm not your family yet, but I will be. And this will be your home, whether you like it or not."
A shiver of fear went down your spine at his firm declaration, causing you to realize you'd made a severe judgment in error when you decided to tell him you weren't family. It was at this point that you were beginning to wish you'd listened to the TARDIS when it told you to run while you still had the chance.
I made a post awhile ago about a Percy Jackson x Danny phantom xover but I never read the books….
I’m about to finish blood of Olympus and now I have a starting line!!!
Same premise, Danny goes to camp half-blood (post boo) and no one can figure out whos kid he is and Percy is being held back by Annabeth before he charges to Olympus and chews out the gods for not claiming this whole ass 17 yr old.
Not only that but the kid refuses to believe he has a godly parent.
Nico keeps getting weird vibes from this guy, like he’s dead but not????
Meanwhile Danny is avoiding Rachel Dare like the plague and is getting increasingly annoyed by these assholes saying his parents lied to him.
Meanwhile clockwork is waiting for the perfect moment to strike. (He’s Danny’s ghost dad ever since his amulet fused with Danny’s core)
One night at dinner when EVERYONE decided to show up a glowing watch shines above Danny’s head.
Percy looks like he’s about to blow a geyser while Annabeth and Chiron are going through all their knowledge about the gods to figure out who tf it is.
because THAT wasn’t possible.
Meanwhile there’s no cabin for any time gods yet so he’s stuck in the Hermes cabin for a bit.
The next day after a rousing game of capture the flag that Danny spent trying to get ahold of the old stopwatch.
As everyone returns to camp there’s a giant commotion….caused by the giant cabin looming over the Zeus cabin with the Symbol of a watch at the top, and a glowing blue man reading a book.
Danny yells “Get down here you asshole!”
CW appears in front of Danny
“Please tell me I’m wrong” Danny groans
“About~~~” CW Grins looking towards Percy and Annabeth
“Well if it isn’t my favorite grandchildren! Thanks again for disposing of that old remnant, for some reason that old shell keeps reforming”
Chaos ensues
Clockwork (formerly chronos) offers Danny some popcorn.
(They thought he was a Hephaestus kid but it turns out he’s just a mad scientist)
Is there a Percy Jackson fic where he doesn't care about the Olympians?
Basically everything is the same, at least at the beginning (and also because I read the books a long time ago and with the serie, the first one is the one I remember best), but instead of being angsty about his dad he just doesn't have a place in his mind for him.
Before, when he was a little kid, he wondered about his dad. Then, time passed and he was alone with his mom and things where good. He didn't really mind it being only the two of them, he kinda liked it.
Then, Gabe came in and he realised how much he missed the times when it was just him and his mom.
He saw other children with their fathers or heard the way they talked about them, and with some it was good, tough it was pretty much the same as it was for him with his mom. He could think, then, that having more of that would be good.
Then he heard others talking about their ever-working dads or their angry-dads and thought that, perhaps, he was better just with his mom, because now there was also Gabe, and what if angry-dads were like angry-Gabes?
So he tried to endure the torment that was Gabe's presence and enjoy what he could of his mom. They would go to the beach, cook blue cookies, fool around. Maybe watch a movie or read. Greek mythology, mainly.
These gods were crazy. And easily angered. And unfair. They didn't seem to care all that much about mortals either. Not even if they worshipped them or if they were related.
So, years later, Percy finds himself in camp-halfblood. He loses his mom, finds out his dad is a god and meets Chiron and Mr. D.
Mr. D is the first god he meets in person. Not very reasuring.
Then he goes around camp, being able to compare the different cabins. Hermes' is cramped. He meets Luke. He finds out about Thalia.
What other conclussion could he reach other than: "The Gods really don't care, huh?"
But then again, neither does he, when he thinks about it. Not really.
But the Olympians are dangerous when they get angry (and sometimes even when they aren't), so he resolves to play nice and do what he is told. He's always tried to keep himself out of troubles, he just hardly ever succeded. But now, knowing that there was a reason (mostly) for him always standing out in the worst way, he could try to stay under the radar.
And then he is claimed, accused of theft and sent on a quest.
Percy, Grover and Annabeth encounter the furies, and Percy thinks he doesn't want Hades as an enemy. He hopes he can get his mom back without things going sideways, but that seems more unlikely by the second. He doesn't really care that much about it.
And the bolt, right. Well... Annabeth can remember that.
Then there is Medusa. She was after him because of his father and after Annabeth because of her mother.
Percy wonders how many monsters are out for his blood because of his father.
There is another thought on the back of his mind, and he refuses to let it escape. But he can't help himself sometimes. The thought can benseen as twisted, but it could always be becuase, were he to fail, would he also be turned into a monster, cursed to forever to hunt those who were supposed to be his own kind.
They sever Medusa's head, but instead of sending it to Olympus, Percy covers her eyes and stuffs it in a bagpack, remembering the story of the first Perseus.
They find Equidna. The head comes in handy.
He meets Ares. The war-god doesn't remind him of Clarisse all that much. Kind of a jerk, but not as bad as Gabe's pocker buddies. Definitely better than the asshole himself (the bar is so low...)
Ares tries to make him angry the same way Aphrodite would lure in any other.
Gods, unlike what you'd think, can't truly create mortal's emotions. Not by themselves, at least. If they could, Eros wouldn't need his bow.
Gods, with nothing else to aid them, can enhance existing emotions. Ares would usually take people's anger or annoyance and multiply it.
But this dumb kid has none. No anger, no mild annoyance or even a little grudge that he could direct at himself. Not because of him being Ares, the war-god, not for being Clarisse's father or even an Olympian like Posseidon. There was nothing to work with. So he tried being a jerk, but it still didn't work.
Ares offered his side-quest and felt in the kid the desire to refuse. But it was put down before he could exploit it.
The quest was fulfilled and after giving the kids some useful stuff and planting the bolt on them, Ares recived a polite thanks from the kids and saw them go on that truck.
Percy, contrary to popular belief, knew perfectly well how to be polite and well manered. Actually, he was an expert. How many times do you think he had to swallow his tongue, his pride and thoughts just to save himself from detention, expulsion or a beating? No, this boy knew very well the rules of the game, especialy with adults. When an adult has power over you, you play nice. He knew that kind of people would never like him, and the feeling was mutual, but if he was polite enough, if he behaved, they would leave him alone, they would ignore him and he them. All would be ok.
Ares didn't get how a kid, a teenager at that, could simply have no anger. He knew half-bloods, he's felt their wrath. They all resent their parents, so what was different this time?
They get trough the Cassino and make it to the underworld. Caron is easily bribed and they get on the boat.
They all nearly fall to Tartarus. Then, they find the bolt.
Percy goes to Hades. He kneels and gives a polite greating. Hades tells him about capturing his mom, then asks for his helm. Percy doesn't have it, but says he knows where it is and asks for the opportunity to retrive it. After the young demigos swearsnon the Stix, Hades himself send them all out of the underworld. The bolt is never mentioned.
Percy is forced to leave his mother behind and then fight Ares for the helm and the bolt.
There are no jokes or taunts, just a fight. At the end, before Ares could curse him, Percy kneels and asks for forgiveness.
After winning, Percy could only thing about the consequences of what he'd done. He thought about Annabeth and Grover, who had come with him and would surely receive part of whatever the war-god sent his way, just for being there. And he thought about his mother, who Hades had taken away, who he couldn't save yet, because he had to prioritize the bolt to prevent a war. His mother, who had suffered a life with Gabe for Percy's sake, and who would surely be targeted, as the person Percy most loved, if the myths had anything of truth (which they apparently did).
Ares didn't really get it. Forgiveness for what? The kid hadn't cheated. As much as he didn't want to admit it, the fight had been fair. So he asked.
"For offending you."
Responded the kid, still not looking at the other in the eyes. Ares didn't really answer. That behavior wasn't normal. It was, admittedly, what he wanted. But it wasn't normal.
Ares left. The helm fell to the floor where he had stood.
Alecto, who had witnessed the fight, recived the helm to deliver. No threats, but a short look of understanding.
The trio then boarded a plain and went to New York. Annabeth and Grover went to camp. Percy, to the Empire State.
Tired and quite done with life, he sassed the guy at reception into letting him pass.
He walked his way into Olympus and reached the throne room where he found Zeus and Posseidon.
He knelt at the entrance, greeting both men at the same time, no difference. There were no complains about it.
Percy gives the bolt back and says what happened at the entrance of Tartarus. Then he tells them about Ares' involvement. His concerns are brushed aside and he doesn't push. He knows better. Besides, if things turned out bad, they would realize eventually and noone would be able to blame him for letting out something important.
Percy is dismissed. He kneels before turning to leave. He is called by Posseidon, so he turns once again. The god turned human size before Percy's eyes and walked until he was standing in front of the boy.
When Posseidon said he was sorry Percy was born, the boy felt offended, but not truly hurt. A part of him wanted to say: "Yeah, you fucked up." He obviously refrained. When Posseidon said that he was proud, when he talks about Sally being a queen amongst mortals, Percy refrained a disdainful scowl. He wasn't angry at the god, but he was exausted, and scared, and worried about his mother, and he didn't feel like listening to this stranger saying things that only friends and family should say. But Percy knew better than to anger strong people, so he smiled and nodded, unable to pretend and do more, but refusing to give anyone reason to punish him. When he was finally dismissed, he had to do his best to control his steps and not run to the elevator.
He goes home to his mother. Medusas' head is still on his pack. A very ugly statue is on the market by the end of the day.
Back at camp, is already nigth and Percy goes out to the forest with Luke.
When the blond tells him he is leaving, Percy says he understands. When Luke tells him to go with him, Percy refuses.
Luke asks him why, when the Olympians aren't worth it.
Then, where the blond expects refusal and denial, Luke recives a tired laugh. Percy is very aware of that, but he'd rather keep himself out of trouble. The gods are too powerful, and powerful people can be dangerous, especially if they consider you little more than pets.
Still, he wouldn't leave. Leaving would mean abandoning his mom, and he would never leave his only family for anything in the world.
When Luke reveals his crimes, Percy tries to reason with him.
"What do you think Chronos will do with us once he doesn't need us anymore?"
But Luke was already completely blinded by fake promises.
Percy is poisoned. He passes out and wakes up in the infirmary.
Summer ends and he goes back to his mom, a whole new word to fight for and against.
Now, I like when Percy sasses the gods and is on good terms with them, but what about him being afraid and wary of them?
I want Percy to keep the Olympians at arm's length while they try to get closer. I want all the Olympians to deal with the rejection and emotional hurt they inflicted on each of their children, ok? Ok.
