BOOK 2 ANIMATION
Infinity Train has lived rent free in my brain for the past five years and everyday I wake up wishing I could watch it for the first time all over again
Back in 2020 I used the audio from this scene and tried to animate it with PaintoolSai and I put the video together really badly on Movavi. And today feels pretty good seeing how much I’ve learned and being able to make something cute with new skills and animation programs! 💕

Currently making myself nauseous thinking about how they both refused to let go of each other’s hands when Jesse was forced to leave Lake behind
You literally just have to watch in horror as Jesse slowly disappears, neither of them letting go.
Then it makes me even sicker when I think about how when the exit reappeared they both refused to let go all over again
Even when Lake was being actively dragged away before Alan Dracula saved the day, Jesse still didn’t let go. He was fully willing to get dragged back through the exit with Lake before letting go.
It just pains me. He lost them once, and he wouldn’t let it happen again :( they care so deeply for each other
I love the duality of how dramatic this scene bc it’s so heartbreaking and shows so well the development of their friendship
But at the same time
Jesse my boy… you could’ve just let Lake get in the portal first and avoided this entire situation
And okay maybe he didn’t think about it the first time okay sure what about the SECOND TIME BEKDNWKNDKWBSKS
And okay yes he was kinda very concussed fine LAKE HAVE YOU LEARNED NOTHING??? GO FIRST YOU GOOFBALL
I say all of this with all the love in the world btw I just think they’re so dumb and funny and it helps me cope with how they destroy my heart when they’re sad

Cooking something ∞
I'm cookin
Obsessed with how Infinity Train was a series designed to grow up each arc. Like:
Season One: tween/teen coming of age. 'Kid coming to realise their caregivers aren't perfect and infallible'
Season Two: Mid-teens identity crisis. This one is more about what you are, about not caving to the social pressures trying to make you conform.
Season Three: Now we're well into late teenagerhood, and the stakes are higher. You can fuck up, in big, terrible ways. Are you able to take a good long look at yourself and change course once you do?
Season Four: Young adulthood, and the question of what do I want my life to be. This is a season which truly has its two protagonists share the limelight equally, which I think is meant to represent how tied this life phase is to navigating interpersonal relationships and reconciling faults in them.
And then we know season five/the movie was supposed to follow Amelia, a (then still young) woman handling the loss of her spouse. An anti-hero who we know who had good intentions, but what happens when those good intentions aren't enough, when you coping mechanisms spiral out of control?
ugh. it's such a well constructed story, and i really hope we see it get a conclusion one day.
Infinity Train New Apex Au
Infinity train AU that no one asked for but I thought it’d be so so fun to throw Lake into the Apex with Jesse. They can draw a themself a number, pass it off as being “turned off” by One or something, and go from there. Kinda impractical — esp with the flec to also consider — but it’d be filled with tension and anxiety and PEAK.
Imagine Lake scribbling a number change during raids. Imagine Lake worrying about telling Jesse the truth and the grief Jesse feels about confirming what he always knew deep down: denizens are alive and have thoughts, feelings, and dreams. Imagine Lake feeling conflicted because a lot of the Apex kids are nice, just misguided and turned into something near unforgivable. Imagine Jesse struggling to forgive himself. PEAK ANGST. Imagine them trying to hide Alan Dracula from the Apex kids because AD refuses to leave them. PEAK COMEDY.
I gave Lake back their Mohawk because it looks SICK and I love it. I gave Grace an anti-theft tag crown because it’s COOL and she deserves it.
I aged up Lucy and Alex from book 3 ep 1 to be the other keystones because Lucy was an obvious pick and Alex was the only other kid I remembered cause the fitting lightbulb thing. I toyed around with Apex Tulip because she’s awesome and the best choice for head of tech but that creates too many complications with Lake.
Lastly it’d just be fun to have Lake interact with Simon more. They’d play along to avoid suspicion but Simon’s words would probably get to them. Things is, before Simon gets suspicious and investigates, he probably thinks of Lake as one of his best new recruits. Lake hates this and hates him. Imagine Lake interacting with Grace. Imagine Grace figuring Lake out and asking Lake to wheel a null in front of the ENTIRE APEX, AAAAAAA. Jesse and Lake would just have to book it at that point. There’s just so many interesting scenarios to imagine. Fun fun fun.
Also brief description of each zone and their purpose. Forgot to put that in the art.
War: Raids, taking over cars, any battles against denizens
Rescue/Recon: Rescuing apex members from cars due to instability, retreat, raids gone wrong, etc. Also rescuing any new passengers/new recruits.
Husbandry: Food & stable stuff. Lucy is probably extra bitter at Jesse for not having to wheel a null because she did and she is shown to really like them in canon.
Tech: Train manipulation & gadgets.
“Diplomacy”: Recruiting passengers, sorting intrapersonal conflicts within the Apex, “negotiating” ie extorting denizens, & whatever the hell Grace wants it to mean
Anyway. Gotta face reality so no more art. May I gain the strength and time management to write a fic about this one day.
THIS IS SI COOL??? HELLO??? Lake disgusting with spray paint is genious and the stakes feel so high!! I wonder if they still need to avoid reflective surfaces to not get caught by the flecks or if the disguise also helps with that. JWLDJSKDJSK

you guys. GUYS. you're missing a crucial detail here.
it's "for the sake of my family".
This is in Twilight's head. These are his own thoughts that nobody else can hear. There's no reason for him to be playing a fake part in his own mind where there's nobody to convince of anything.
In Twilight's mind, in [REDACTED]'s mind, he is calling Yor (and by extension Anya) his family. Not Loid's family. Not "civilians." Not "Yor and Anya." That's his family.
"Don't get attached" doesn't even cross his mind anymore, because he's already too far gone. He's far past attached at this point.
His existential/identity crisis isn't just about his budding feelings for Yor that this arc is probably going to help him realize. It's not about how his need to sacrifice himself is going to affect Anya because "it's different, she's a kid, she doesn't know how quickly people can die".
It's the genuine love he's starting to feel for both of them.
It's realizing that for the first time since he was a little kid that he has a family.
It's always been Loid's family. It's always been about playing a part.
But now he's starting to realize he doesn't want to play that part anymore.
Because he wants it to be real.
Hey can we please talk about the juxtaposition between these two panels?
And also between these two pages?
Because I love the contrast between Yor’s expression when she’s really starting to work out her true feelings for Loid and when Twilight is beginning to understand that he might actually have feelings for Yor.
AND THEN HOW THEY BOTH COME ABOUT ADMITTING SAID FEELINGS.
Yor is entranced, Twilight is distressed.
For Yor, there’s bright twinkly lights. For Twilight, there’s nothing but darkness. Chiaroscuro in the subtext, if you will.
Not to mention how Anya is a catalyst for Yor’s confession, while also being the reason that Loid doesn’t continue this line of thought.
Just food for thought.
Because I’m thinking about it.
