Thank you!! It's so funny how they made Chloe so jealous but like the final nail was Red being with dumb boy instead of her, especially since Chloe doesn't get her own love interest. Also least favorite scene in the movie. Like the lines are literally applicable only to Red and Chloe. She's known this boy for like two days and they had one conversation about their insecurities like Red and Chloe had a whole movie about overcoming their fears and insecurities and saved both their moms?? I would too become a villain after that. Gay people literally have the most explosive breakups before they're even dating. Also her singing their verse together from Perfect Princess to get Chloe back is gayer than kissing 😂

red gaining other red’s memories of her childhood with pink was very interesting to me. i’m wondering if it will happen again in the next movie? red or chloe gaining memories of wicked wonderland timeline in a climactic moment or it’s something like the longer they’re there the more memories they gain?

I wonder how this will effect her relationship with Chloe. Like I really want childhood friends scenes with them. There is something really scary though about gaining new memories especially if they overtake old ones. Maybe D6 could be about trying to keep their old memories because that's what made them who they are. I wonder maybe her finding the treasure heart did it and the Bridget "off with his head" is like the timelines blurring together? Like it's trying to correct itself but it can't because there's Pre and Post Pocketwatch characters in the same timeline. Uma says that "getting what you want can be dangerous, especially when you mess with the fabric of time" so maybe their presence is unraveling the timeline because they're not supposed to be here? I really hope they actually address this (and they make more books)

So every year, my aquarium does a captive lobster hatchery project (hence all the loblings). The reason we’re doing it is because in the wild, loblings only have a 1 in 25,000 chance of surviving their larval phase. They’re plankton as babies and everything eats them. Additionally, as the Gulf of Maine warms, they are having even lower survival rates because the blooms of copepods they feed on as babies are happening earlier in the year, and they’re missing it.

Obviously, the goal of this experiment is to grow the lobsters until they’re big enough to settle to the seabed and then release them, because they have a much higher likelihood of surviving to adulthood when they’re able to hide. Ideally, captive lobster hatcheries can boost the wild population and keep things stable, so we don’t have a major crash in a decade or two.

The first year we tried this was pretty bad. We had a lot of eggs, but very few babies. It turned out that the CO2 levels in the building spiked as more guests visited throughout the summer, and that settled into the water and threw off the pH and caused a chemical reaction that prevented a lot of the eggs from hatching. I think we ended up releasing three baby lobsters (which is still better than their wild survival rate but not great).

The second year was a little better. We added a de-gasser to the aquarium and got a ton of larval lobsters, but right as they were settling to the bottom we had a disease outbreak that killed most of them. We ended up releasing four babies at the end of the season.

But this year? Oh boy. We have so many lobsters that we had to release the first round early (usually we wait till September or October so guests can see them). We just released a total of FIVE HUNDRED AND TWENTY FIVE baby lobsters, and we still have over a hundred who haven’t settled to the bottom yet. I genuinely don’t even have words to explain how cool this is. OVER FIVE HUNDRED. We just added hundreds of lobsters to the wild population that wouldn’t have been there otherwise.

All the absolute books involve something key to the character being removed. Batman isn't rich but has an axe and is more muscle than man, Superman doesn't have a family and grew up in Krypton, Wonder Woman didn't grow up in paradise but in hell with Circe learning magic. What is key to Wednesday? Her family, her macabre upbringing? If we consider the Addams Family as a satire of 50s sitcoms then what if we placed Wednesday in that setting with Enid as the queen bee (in contrast to her being ostracized in the show)? Is that too obvious? It would invert their dynamic. I'd have to workshop it more.

Headcanon: Luis is the only Madrigal with a repeat gift, and sometimes he feels like the Miracle cheated him out of getting a cool new power. He's had nothing but hand-me-downs his whole life (he has seventeen cousins!) and he just wanted something uniquely his. He loves being strong, but he's already his mother's little clone and his gift doesn't help his family see him as anything but an extension of her. That's why he jumped at the chance to go to school so far away from home. (And he STILL gets it from strangers.)

Omg omg omg so I saw Wicked Wonderland and yes I even got the froyo for it and it wasn't perfect but it's definitely my second favorite Descendants movie (below D2 and above D4). Okay first of all, I had this pet theory that the reason D4 looks so cheap (I am the biggest D4 apologist but I've seen the commentary from the set designer and they so rushed them and everyone and that's why it feels so half baked) and when I first saw Perfect Princess, I noticed that there were like much better sets and everything looked better. I think that Disney wasn't 100% behind D4 and so they rushed and under budgeted the movie but then D4 was super successful (I still love it so much) so now they pulled out all the stops for D5. It's such a gorgeous movie. In classic Descendants fashion, the boys don't matter it's (mostly) all about the girls (minus Max). I was so mad about Red and Luis because again the main character in a Descendants movie has more chemistry with her girlfriend(s). Like Chloe literally gets jealous of Red spending time with people besides her. Descendants really can't stop queer coding their characters. Like name one straight Descendants character. Like she doesn't even dance with him during the ending song (she's dancing with Chloe and Pink). I need to watch it again for a full breakdown. The songs are so good too! Perfect Princess is a bop obviously but I really like all the other ones. Okay, complaints time:

Chloe and her mom really didn't talk as much as I wanted to.

I really actually liked Pink in this movie (which I should have seen coming because I'm also the annoying pink little sister but with an older brother) and I'm sad she didn't get much of an arc (I feel like most characters had incomplete arcs? Need to rewatch)

Luis has no personality and chemistry with Red and their song together makes no sense because they've known each other for like two days and it bugs me that she abandoned Chloe to have a dumb number with him

Not enough Hazel Hook (Red/Chloe/Hazel though)

Descendants really has trouble with climaxes. Like I still feel like D4 has the best (people say that movie doesn't have a climax like that wasn't the culmination of their their journey together). I mean I really liked the bit with Red, Chloe, and Max but Maddox's defeat felt too easy.

Chloe doesn't seem to be wearing the shoes Red stole from Hook and I wish she was so Hazel could make a comment about it

I feel like because there are so many characters that a lot of the new ones don't get enough screentime.

Mad is a fun villain song (first male main villain. Hades doesn't count) I love how the camera gets tilted around and the use of other camera effects. Bridget gets a verse!

I like how the future thing (oculator?) shows very incomplete information so it misrepresents what happened in D4 so Max thinks that Red just changes the past to have a nicer mom.

We kinda get the angst thing I mentioned in a previous post about Red isn't fully happy with her current present and that hurts Chloe because my mom died in the original timeline

Of course we got a "you didn't think that was the end of the story" so hopefully we get D6? (I know there's some drama between Kylie and Malia but I try to stay out of personal stuff so I'm not super informed on it). Definitely watch it if you can and give Rise of Red another chance. It's actually really good.

when she was little, rumi used to ask celine to kiss all of her teddy bears before she went to sleep. this was pretty easy back when rumi only had a few teddy bears, but it definitely became more and more of a lengthy ordeal as her collection grew.

right around the first time rumi’s patterns spread, when she was 7 or 8, she stopped asking celine to do it. despite how long of a task it had become, celine was genuinely disappointed the first night she wasnt asked.

decades later, rumi and her wives and their 3 year old daughters come to visit jeju for a few days. like their mama, the triplets have started to amass a collection of their own plushies. celine also cant help but notice that a few of rumi’s old teddy bears have made their way into her daughters’ possession, passed down to them. they have names for each and every one of their plushies, some of them more unique than others (hani has a stuffed frog named sir cornellius wobblytoe hoppington xiv, while jihae has a stuffed cat named meowmeow. aeri’s two favorite plushies are a stuffed turtle named shelldon jr, who is the son of zoey’s stuffed turtle, shelldon sr, and a stuffed alligator named bear), but they have kept the same names that rumi had for her teddy bears.

one night, celine walks to the bedroom her granddaughters are staying so she can wish them goodnight, and she sees rumi in there.

the sight of what she’s doing sends her mind back decades in time. tears form in her eyes.

rumi is kissing her daughters’ plushies, and wishing each and every one of them goodnight. the three of them watch her with expressions that celine distinctly remembers seeing on rumi herself while she watched celine kiss her teddy bears. they even hand the next one to be kissed off the same way she used to.

they seem to have a bit of order to it. each girl gets a turn handing off a plushie to rumi, who kisses the toy and wishes it goodnight, then hands it off to mira, who does the same and then hands it to zoey, who does the same, before she hands it back to whoever’s plushie it is. each girl waited patiently for their turn, so there was no fighting about who got to go next.

when celine sees rumi kiss one of her old teddy bears, and wish it good night with the same cadence she used to wish it goodnight, she has to walk away for a few minutes to compose herself, because she knows if she stays there watching any longer, she will burst out into tears
