I really like IDW's portrayal of Silver. I know it's controversial because of how different he is from the games, but the thing is it makes sense. It's a natural progression of his character to let down his more hostile mask from 06 as he becomes a part of more friend groups. In Rivals, he becomes closer with Espio and starts being more trusting. Even with the 2022 annuals, he's shown to be more comfortable letting his mask down around Espio, and vents his anxieties. He's completely zoned out when he runs into Whisper. This is one of the most real depictions of anxiety I've seen from media directed typically to children. Silver DOES suffer from anxiety. Silver DOESN'T show it all the time. He's not just an innocent little bean that people decided to make the "cute one" instead of using Cream or Amy, but he's scared. And these comics let him show it.
