When I look back at the beginning of the semester, I should have never thought that this class was going to be easy. I thought this class was going to be easy because I took it last semester, but the materials wasn’t the same. However, I believed my work has develop due to the fact that I would be putting my all into every assignments, not taking the easy route. At first when I would write I wouldn’t explain, or go into further details about my topic. It would look plain and not have a lot of information for the reader to understand. As each week started to pass by, I started to realize that I wasn’t putting the effort I normally would put into my writings. Once I realized that I have to put more effort and thought into each assignments, that’s when my work has develop and gotten better. My strength as a blogger is having lots of ideas and typing it down. Expressing my thoughts by free writing is one of my strengths as a blogger because I could just write down what’s going on in my mind, or how I’m feeling in that moment. Also I have lots of ideas, so when I type my ideas down it comes out as a story.  I will continue working on my project on Harlem gentrification. The reason being is that I found it very interesting that Harlem is being gentrify due to the fact it’s filled with African-Americans. How they trying to build another building for Columbia University and kicking out the residents that has been living in their neighborhood for several amount of years. It isn’t far for those families because they could end up homeless, or get a new apartment. African-Americans are starting to move back down to the south because more white are currently moving in Harlem, where it was once predominately black. It isn’t fair for them because white people could afford to either pay rent so they raise up the price. Blogging has help my writing by letting me write down my ideas and working on it, so it can be good. It helped me put my thoughts into my writing, just not writing anything I want and not making any sense. By laying down the ideas I would want to talk about, then once I have my ideas set I’ll start writing my paper.

Blog Bonus- Dear mom

I know we’ve been back and forth debating about me choosing to play college football. I’m definitely aware that you're against the idea of me playing football due to your reasons on my safety. But this is my dream. And at the end I hope we can come to a mutual understanding on my choosing to play the sport, and being a part of something I truly love, football. I’ve stressed my passion, and love for the sport, but of course you’ve expressed your reasoning on why your against me playing as well. One in particular being the injury that can be caused from playing the sport. You said that there's a possibility that I can break a rib, or develop a concussion if the brain, and even injure myself even more because I already have a previous injury on the left knee, which I can understand your concern being my mother, and me being your little boy, but there are many ways I can protect myself. Now I hear your concerns, and understand why you feel the way you feel because of the history of the sport, but there are many precautions I can take while playing. Like for example there are now better, and safer equipment that I can use to better protect myself. That can help me from getting my ribs or any other bones broken, and even receiving a concussion. And there are even tech gear that can help keep my knee safe and secure while playing, and also help it heal better while I’m playing and practicing the sport. Another is my love, and passion for the sport. I’ve played baseball, basketball, and even tennis and I’ve never been in love with something before until I tried and played High school football. It’s a feeling that I’ve never had before, and I don't want to give this up. Football gives me a sense of myself, and it gives me strength, and helps me focus. It’s something I truly love, and it's amazingly fun. Wouldn't you want for me to be happy, and do something in college I would love, and enjoy doing? Now I know you're reading this and may still be against it, but I think there's a way we can both be happy. Okay so your concern of course is my health and physical well-being especially with my knee. So I can promise you this: when it comes to this sport I have to be on my A game, and eat healthy and exercise. So I will for sure promise you that I will go on my bi monthly checkups to the local doctor's office on campus to make sure I’m healthy, and on the right dietary plan. And I will for sure have the doctor check my knee every so often to make sure it's healing properly, and I’m not putting any strain on it. I will make sure at all times I will wear my gear, and keep myself protected on the field. I will try my hardest to make sure that I’m sensible, and responsible while practicing and playing the sport. And I will be on my A game all times while playing.

Blog 10

There are some data that I will have to provide in order to fill my scholarly gap. The data will explain how gentrification is helping Harlem in a positive way. Sometimes people wouldn’t talk about how gentrifying your community would have a positive outcome. They usually talk about if you gentrify a community you’re not giving the lower class people a chance to have a home due to the fact the rent will increase. Also how it wouldn’t be diverse because once the lower class people are forced out their own homes, they would have to find somewhere else to live. So the whites would be taking over the community. But what they fail to mention is how the community will have less crimes and renewable buildings. Having a community gentrify causes each neighborhood to be clean and not have abandoned buildings. Having an abandoned building doesn’t benefit the community because it’s a useless space and having something that’s useless wouldn’t do anything for us. So in that case high paid companies would buy the abandoned building and turn it into something that’s worthy. People always look at the negative side of gentrifying a neighborhood just because the prices of places increases. Knowing your neighborhood is safe and you wouldn’t have to worry about anything give you a clear view on why it’s positive. I’m hoping to learn how crimes rate decreases due to changing your community. If the neighborhood bad and you start changing up the neighborhood by renewing building and putting up cameras, would that stop crime rates? I believe it wouldn’t stop just because they change the community to make it look clean doesn’t mean the crime rate would decrease. So I would like to know how they are able to decrease crime rates. I also would like to know where would the lower class people go if they’re kick out their house just because white people are able to afford rent that’s high. Would they be able to get another house, or they would have to find that out by themselves? Some families lived in their apartments for many plus years and forcing them to leave can really have a toll on them. They wouldn’t know where to go because they weren’t expecting that. So would the government help them find a new place due to their financial status, or they really don’t care where they go after they’re forced out to leave?

Blog 9

A major problem in Harlem is gentrification. They are trying gentrify the whole community that has been precious to the blacks. Replacing soul foods with fancy restaurants such as French and Greek restaurants doesn’t make it feel like Harlem. Harlem is a placed where graffiti, soul food, and even the Apollo is created.  When you take those things out of Harlem It doesn’t make you feel that it’s a place to express yourself. Knowing that each year more white people are moving into Harlem is causing displacements of black, it community would never be the same because eventually things will start to change. The gap in this issue is knowing that businesses as in hair braiding, deli, recreational centers, and barbershop would eventually be out of business. Hair braiding started in Harlem when the African American ladies wanted to braid people’s hair. So they open up shops just to get your hair braided, or get any type of weaves/ extension that you want. Some of the recreational centers in Harlem are running out of business, which is not a smart thing to do because that’s where the youth are able to have their fun. Without a recreational center kid wouldn’t have a place to hang out, or do certain activities. We need to understand that certain places in Harlem isn’t subject to change because that’s what Harlem its name. Every place needs some sort of diversity, but when it comes to Harlem it’s mainly known for a black community that build its own history. People would say gentrifying the community reduces crime rates, although it does. But even though gentrifying the community reduces crime rates, why can’t the police make the community better without it being gentrify. Black have been living there for years and the police officers wouldn’t want to make it better. It’s not fair that that’s the only way to better the community. Harlem has become high income for neighborhood as in the brownstones.  The brownstones has become very expensive and force people to move out. People have been living there for years and ever since white people have been moving in the brownstones, they are able to pay for high rent, which causes the landlord to raise the amount of the rent. There are a few solutions to make sure Harlem wouldn’t be gentrify, but since it’s a major problem people wouldn’t know how to fix it.

that sh*t ain’t funny !

So today I threw a Program Called “Netflix, Chill & Safety”, we talked about sex safety and watched a movie after. The movie we watched is on Netflix called “Adulterers “, in the movie a husband caught his wife cheating with another individual and held them hostage. During the movie the wife spoke about her childhood and why she does cheat, she started off with saying her dad used to let her other men touch on her. She starts to go into depth and she uncovers that the guy who molested her, was her father’s friend. As the story unfolds the woman never told her father because she didn’t want to upset him, later on after she uncovers that she is pregnant. He pays for her abortion, paid her two thousand dollars to keep quiet and in her words “he then avoided her as if she were the plague”.  While watching this specific scene, a boy laughs. I looked at him with a dropped jaw and he goes it was a joke. How do people find such traumatic experience such as a “joke”? The fact that anyone considers thus humorous is sickening and it is something that our generation needs to realize that this is serious.

               The mind of this generation is bizarre, we blame women for their rapes. We laugh when we hear a women sharing a personal story us.  This is something we need to educate ourselves on because if we act as if the rape, molestation, sexual abuse isn’t something serious or a norm it will only progress.  Men act as if this has nothing to do with them but you guys have sisters, mothers, grandmother’s aunts and most of you if not already will soon have daughters. The woman in the movie refused to tell her father because she wanted to please him, women need to learn to speak up for themselves. We need to feel confident as woman, and ourselves first. It’s sad that a girl didn’t feel comfortable enough with her father, it’s actually sad that she put her father’s happiness before hers. Most mothers teach their daughter,” If anyone touches you in an inappropriate spot I don’t care who you let me know”. Why is it that in 2016, girls are still scared to tell anyone? It’s because we are shaming them and they are scraed.All in all, I feel us as a whole generation needs to take rape or the idea of it seriously.

Reading this makes me want to go on Netflix and watch that movie. It is really disturbing having someone laugh about that because it’s not happening to them, so they find it funny. But I believe people have to change their mindset about certain things because they wouldn’t like it if it happened to one of the ladies in their families. I like how you said woman need to speak up for themselves, but I personally believe everyone should speak up for themselves when they are in a predicament like that. We as people need to learn that we need to have our voices heard and there isn’t a problem with that.

College

I think one topic we should discuss in class is about the life of a college student. Many people don’t think about how hard we work; during and after college. To the outside it might seem like a breeze. We do four years, get a degree and move on with our lives onto better things, but in actuality it’s more complex than that. Well for most people. Some students have money and can just do their work without the thought of stress. There are students that have to balance working long hours and studying tons of work while aiming for for a 3.5 and up GPA. It takes a lot of motivation and focus to pursue this goal. College students aren’t commended enough for this effort. Loans have to be taken out and this puts students into even bigger holes due to paying off debts. The loans take years to pay off even after college. It is important for people to understand that college isn’t as easy as it seems. Some students aren’t even able to make it through the four years. It puts too much stress and pressure on them.

College is very expensive and of course not everyone is lucky enough to pay for everything on their own. Although we get the help from grants and financial aid and of course loans, it isn’t enough. The price of college expenses should be lowered. It discourages many people from even going to college because they know they will have trouble paying it off. This is an injustice. People have to put their dreams on the backburner because of the cost. I think almost every college student can agree the prices should be lowered. As an alternative, to the cost not being able to change, the quality should be better. For example, the food, the beds. MAny people complain about these things on a daily basis. The beds are too small and the food isn’t as good as it should be. The dining hall should stay open later, things like that. College is meant to be a new experience or chapter in one’s life. Nothing is perfect but there are some things that could better the time spent here. People should be be happy about making it through college and going on to better things and not worrying about paying off others. People on the outside don’t understand the things us college students go through and it should be made more aware.

This is an interesting topic to discuss in class. The reason being is because people really don’t know the hard work we put into school. I like how you said people from the outside may think it’s a breeze, but it really is more complex. Working and attending school isn’t a piece of cake. Some people are able to balance it out, but others would have a difficult time doing it. If you do get through 4 years of college it will feel like a weight of your shoulders. I believe its a great topic to discuss in class since we as students can relate.

College Tuition!

There’s so many things going on in the world right now it’s very hard to just pick one. But there’s one that I want to talk about, and that is college tuition. This is something that is very important to students and families. College tuition is something that many students are afraid of in order to start their college journey and further their education. Because the tuition is so high many students is unable to pay it, because their loans doesn’t cover it all, or they don’t get financial aid from the government.

Students isn’t getting enough help they need, and that’s the biggest concern we are facing today. Because they aren’t getting the help they need, they’re forced to quit college or worst, they can’t even attend college, because they can’t pay the bill. I think we should discuss in class ways that we can help prevent that. There’s so many ways in my opinion that I think can help them. The government needs to realize that these students are very committed to their study, and they should get the help they deserve.

Under tuition there’s so much more that a student have to go through on a daily basis. Some of these students have to work 2 jobs just too keep up with their bills. We as students already have to buy the expensive textbooks that is required and get no help what so ever. Tuition shouldn’t add on to the stress that we’re already facing. We need to figure out a way on how to help solve this issue. How we can all go to college to further our education and make our dreams come through. It hurts that some students can’t make that happen and nobody is doing anything to help solve it. We need everyone to be aware that this is a problem in our society. A problem that we need solutions too. and make it possible for everyone to have the right to attend college.

This topic would be very interesting to talk about because people can relate to it. Also It touched me because I know a couple of people who can’t attend college because of those same reason. I believe each year the tuition goes up for varies reason. One of the reason I believe it goes up is when they build a new building. They raise the tuition, so it can cover for the building they built. Or even when they renew certain parts of the school as in dining, that’s when they’ll raise up tuition. But it isn’t fair because as young adults we can’t afford it to go up. Just feel like it’s messed up.

Let’s Talk.

In class we try to talk about a lot of things, so far all of the topics we have discussed to me have been important. One topic that we should discuss that I feel very strongly about is pollution and preserving the planet. We talk about this briefly when it comes up but we never go too much in depth on the issue. Our planet is slowly deteriorating right in front of our eyes and we are the main cause of it. Pollution affects everything around us, birth defects in babies, IQ points dropping and even the lowering of life expectancy.

 The major types of pollution are land, air, water, light and noise. Even though some of these things don’t affect us humans directly they do affect the environment. In some places damage is way to irreversible, for example, China’s air is so bad that sometimes they cannot even go outside. It is said that pollution in China can even change weather patterns in the United States in which can stop clouds from producing rain and snow. All it takes is a jet stream five days to carry the heavy air pollution our way. We should talk of ways to help preserve what we have left and ways to prevent it. If we don’t preserve what we have now what will be left as time goes on?

 The world changes around us everyday now imagine if we continue neglecting the issue of pollution what it will be like.  There are many ways everyone can do their part and help out. We may not feel like it or think oh we don’t need to but in reality we really do. Ever since we were kids they told us about the risks of what could happen if we don’t help out and do our part. Now that I actually opened my eyes to what is going around us it scares me to think of what will the future hold for this planet. Looking at the earth now and in years to come we need to look and question whether or not it will get better or worse. If we continue to neglect the pollution going on around us we may end up just like China or maybe even worse. The future is in our hands and we seem to not really see it, we can control what happens. But the real issue is what happens if we wait too long to change? What if?

Reading this really opened my eyes about how we don’t care about the world. I always said, we need to be more caution about are we treat the world, or else we’re going to destroy it. Some people may not take it serious, but it’s because they think everything is perfect which isn’t. We always think about the what ifs. We can’t live life thinking what ifs because nothing will never change. But reading this made me think about how I wouldn’t want it to be like china. Especially the part you said about pollution affects birth defects in babies. It’s really sad.

Story

don’t believe i can tell my story yet. Because i believe it’s still going, I am young man growing up. Went though middle school, high school and now in college. With each day I wake up, I am going into a man. A man whom I am yet to find as I grow, but I am not scared I enjoy the challenges I face in life cause I believe it’s fun. Even since I was little boy I have always had visions or a goals you would say. But this goals and visions keep change as we grow because I believe we get to know ourselves better as we grow. What we can do and what we can’t. Life is full of a lot of challenges and joy and we most times face the both sides of life good and bad. Now that I am college,I believe I have come closer to my future. To working really for what I want to be in this world, but I can’t forget the past because it made me who I am now. This is my second year in college and just from the first I have learnt a lot about myself. The connections I have made in college have led me it the right path I believe. They is nothing as important to me as making a difference in every place I go. I want to change something for the good. I always try to encourage my friends to do the right thing all the time and still on the right path. As I myself do the same.

It’s great to have goals and plans for your life. I feel like is gives you structure. I feel like you should set some ultimate life goals and some small ones to help you out along the way. When you are finally able to accomplish something that you have been chasing for so long that feel you get is unmatched. I feel like right now I too am in the process of writing the story of my life. I feel like you really want to be successful when you get older. You are setting goals for yourself that you want to achieve because you want your future to be bright. I feel like as you get older you start thinking about things that’ll make you successful. For example, you will start making connections with certain people that will get you places. Just talking 

The first say of coming to this class I was excited to finally start classes, I really didn’t know what I was in for. I figured i’d just pray for the best. Now I don’t know. But , I’ve been at Buffalo State College for a while now. This is my sophomore year and it is going to be my last year. I don’t like this school coming here was a good and a bad thing I could say. I have my pros and cons about how I feel about the school. Pros : able to make my own decisions, able to get away from my family for these couple months while i’m in school and just getting away from Brooklyn. Cons? Lord I could go on all day about that one.I hate the food here second week here and I have to order food all the time, I get annoyed with having to eat the same thing over and over again. Another thing I don’t like is the distance everything is so far you need a car to get most places around here. Lastly I don’t like how everything is so pricey, meaning how much people charge for things, knowing back home in Brooklyn I would pay less than what the people out here try to charge me. Hm, about myself. I’m 18 from Brooklyn New York. My favorite colors are blue,black, and grey. I’m a Sagittarius. I hate nosy and rude people. I can’t wait to transfer out as well. My favorite type of music is anything with Fabolous in it. That’s my favorite rapper. I like other but he’s my top 1 on my list of people.

Reading this blog makes me think you really want to leave buffalo state. I could agree with you about the food is really bad. I believe they have to upgrade with dining and also retail because in retail you’ll end up getting the same meal all the time, and dining it’s too repetitive. But I wonder what school you’re trying to transfer to. Probably one back home, where you could get food at almost every block. I do believe fabulous is one of the best rappers that’s out right now. The way he raps, i feel as if no one could do what he does.

Blog 3

Prom was such a big thing for me, in 8th grade I didn’t get a chance to experience prom so I knew in 12th grade I was going to go all out. One day I went to school to find out prom was cancelled, the anger that I was going through was unbearable. I was so upset because my school was taking that chance away from me. As soon as I got out of school I rushed home to tell my mother what my school just did. She was upset too because she didn’t think I was going to get a chance to experience prom.

A couple days later my I went to my cousin’s house and told her what happened and she told me I could maybe go to her school prom. I was excited because I figure there was hope for me to get the full prom experience. A couple days later it was confirmed I was going to go to South Shore prom. I bought my ticket and my after party ticket and I knew for sure I was going to have fun tonight.

Prom day finally came and I was ready for it all. From morning my mother was upsetting me. She wanted to argue with me about everything. The first thing she was upset about was about the car I wanted to rent, and she was upset because I couldn’t drive at the time but I didn’t care I wanted the car and I got it. Next she was upset because she wanted to take all these pictures and my mood was already blown to the max. After that my date finally arrives I was upset because he wasn’t dressed, and he came late at my house. So I knew prom was about to go wrong already.

Once were all dressed we went to the Canarise Pier where all the other kids were there my mood went from 0-100 real quick. I saw everyone all dressed up and I was happy. All the boys had on suits and girls in pretty long dresses. I knew it was picture time. I had my own personal photographer and he took amazing pictures of me and my date. Around 7 o’clock pictures were done being taken and it was time for everyone to leave. All my friends and I rented a red limo to drive us to the place prom was being held at. When we got to the prom place it was decorated so nicely. Balloons were outside of the place and a banner with class of 2015 on it. I danced so much half way through prom I had to take off my shoes, my feet started too hurt. 12 oclock started too approach and prom was about to be over and we were going to get changed and head to 42nd Street to Copa Cabanna where the after party was going to be at. Overall I had a good experience at prom. I would do it all over again.

I’m so sorry that you weren’t able to experience prom the traditional way. I went to prom in elementary, middle, and high school (twice). However, I didn’t really ever have a good time. I really related to the agitation you felt when your mother was taking pictures and your date wasn’t ready. I have really bad anxiety, so when I was going though something similar, it was just awful and really ruined my night. Of course, prom is prom, so the music and the laughs will always be there for me to remember fondly, so I feel like I completely get what you mean when you said that you would do it all over again. Also, as a side note, I like that you write the way that you do. I feel like your writing is meant to be read aloud, it makes it seem like I’m hearing you tell the story rather than just reading it. I think it makes a really great connection with the reader.

Im sorry you didn't experience the prom the way you’re suppose to. But to be honest prom really isn’t all that. It’s mainly just taking pictures with all your friends, eating for like an hour, dance for another hour, and see who wins prom king/queen. It’s only about 3 hours of your life. However, reading this brought back lots of memory, back when I was a senior in high school. Never would of thought of being prom king in my life, but it happened. What made it better was having my girl at the time winning prom queen. It felt so surreal like if I was in a movie. Wish you could of experience it the way I did.

Storytime!

I’m the kind of person who has never been able to deal with idle time. I am constantly trying to find some new activity, job, or opportunity to master a new area of expertise. This makes me someone who is very talented at a multitude of things- but I have honestly never been known for having the best common sense. Fast forward to this summer; I had gotten the job at chipotle, and my manager Luis has begun my training at the line station. For those that don’t know, the line is basically everything that has to do with what happens with the food while it’s being served. I made tacos, quesadillas, quesoritos, burritos, burrito bowls, salads, and kids meals. While in the beginning I struggled with making sure that my area was clean, I ended up becoming a leader at my station really fast, and I was even assigned to train someone else on the line. I was most proud of my ability to roll the perfect burrito. (Some of my customers would request me specifically, and called me the “burrito queen”, I tried to take it as a compliment despite the slight racial aspect of the comment). Anyhow, one day I was learning how to blanch. blanching is the process in which Chipotle sterilizes the produce so that it is not dirty and so that it kills off all the bacteria that lives on the produce. This is done by putting the vegetables into a pot for five seconds and submerging them in boiling water. I thought this was pretty cool, and I was excited to learn how to do it on my own. My trainer then instructed me on what to do. “Bring one onion and one pepper”, he’d said. “And be fast because we have a lot of other things to do”. I ran to the walk in freezer and picked out one pepper from the shipment box, and cut open a bag of onions to grab one that I thought looked nice enough to be the one that took my blanching virginity. As I ascended the stairs back to the kitchen to begin my training, my manager and trainer took one look at me and burst out laughing. I nervously joined in, all the while asking what was so funny. In between gasps of breath, my manager explained that when the task is to get ‘one’ thing, it means one bag or box, not one singular item. Looking back on it, I did look pretty idiotic standing excitedly with one onion and one pepper in each hand, but in my defense, I really didn’t know any better. I guess common sense really isn’t common, and I’m living proof. Needless to say, I never made that mistake again, and going forward, I always made sure to ask lots of questions so that I was always clear on the instructions on a task that was given to me.

After reading this blog, I too became curious as to why your manager laughed at you! If he told you to bring an onion and a pepper to get ‘blanched’ (which I just learned about by reading your blog), then why would he tell you he wanted a bag/box!? I don’t think it’s you, I think they just aren’t clear at all. Don’t beat yourself up! Also, asking questions is a great thing.. never stop.

I also picked this blog since I found it pretty relatable, I also work on the line at my job. I too was super anal about cleaning when I first started so I found that funny… also the title Burrito Queen. I think it’s awesome that your customers love your skills and that you’re known for making the best burritos at your Chipotle. You must be doing something right!

After reading this blog, I learn a lot about chipotle that I didn't know before. At first I was curious about if you wasn’t going to like the job. But it turn out to be the other way. But I always like how you’re friendly and a great worker. Having the title “burrito queen” sound pretty cool because you’re the best one in chipotle. I feel like they wasn’t trying to be sarcastic when they said it, they were just acknowledging the fact that you’re a hard worker. Overall, keep working hard it’ll get you far. As I dream

As a child I watched Scrooge McDuck, from The Mighty Ducks, swim in a pool filled with money and I knew that can be me in that pool one day. But, I didn’t know behind every dream was tremendous work. When I first started school, I didn’t really care about the importance of an education. As a shark in a fishbowl I just thought I would always be the strongest of the strong. My thought process changed when I visited Lincoln University.

When I was on the road to Lincoln, I didn’t think it would be a life changing experience for me; I expected just another college trip. As the bus got to the rural side of Philadelphia I slightly got scared, because I lived in a city for most of my life. However, when I met the 17 other people who attended this program with me for the week, they became really close friends, almost like family. We got a jam packed schedule and a project to accomplish during our time there. Waking up early in the morning for workouts, and sleepless nights spent working on my project on the environmental effects of global warming, gave me an idea about what I’ll experience when I attend a university. As I worked on the project I couldn’t just give facts and be done. I had to put my own spin on how to fix the problems in a realistic manner. Usually on group projects I do the majority of the work but this time around it was a true collaboration with my partners.

We experienced different lectures from professors and alumni that provided information about the university and life before and after college. There was a slight realization when I saw my peers involved in student government, scoring a 34 on there ACT’s and having incredibly high GPA’s. I wasn’t a shark in a fishbowl anymore. I was a dolphin in a school of sharks. I felt excited that these people could be my peers after I graduate, but I realized that my current academic behaviors weren’t going to cut it. I needed to be the best on my track team, get involved in student government, get a higher GPA. I was the only person to achieve the Lincoln legacy award at the end of the program, but just being the best was not enough. Carrying the Lincoln legacy showed that the college students and staff saw in me a prime example of a leader.  Keeping commitments, speaking my mind, listening to my peers, I demonstrated my capabilities for the best outcome possible.

Understading Mutlimodal

There are certain steps you have to take in order to complete your project. When you first start to think about a topic for your project, you would have to find something that works for you.  Once you that set and stone, start thinking about what’s your main idea going to be about. But there are five steps of understanding your own composing process. The first step is to brainstorm. When you brainstorm you’re gathering all of your thoughts and thinking about the topic that interest you. The topic I have would be the photos I’ve taken, so now my main focus is working on the purpose. Next step is to plan out what is it that you would want to talk about. Start planning an outline, it would be beneficial because you have your thoughts laid out. Whereas when you research you are looking for the information that’s needed for your topic. Researching is important because without it there’s no way you can back up you statement. There are many reasons you would want to research your topic, as in getting a piece of text and citing it, so that it could back up the information you have in your outline. Therefore, the next step is to make an attempt to compose your thoughts. The outline that was planned would now be written in an essay form. Sometimes you have an outline, but then it’s not what you thought it would be, that’s when you shift direction on the topic you have. Lastly, you have to revise the paper you wrote. The reason being is because you might have messed up and use the wrong information that you found online while you were researching. Some of the writing would not have enough detail, or evidence backing up your information. I am considering using this process because it would help me get a better understanding on what I’m writing about. When I have all the pictures I would need to have to explain why I chose them. First choosing some pictures that has meaning that make my writing more interesting. Make sure they all relate to each other in some sort of way by telling a story within its self. Knowing the background of the pictures you took will give you a bit more advantage on writing your paper. Once you have all the steps down then it would be easy to write a paper.

My Future

Ever since I was a little kid my dream is to play in the NFL. I remember one Sunday morning watching a Giants game with cousins and uncle; what a good day. I sat on the couch just looking at talented people play an incredible sport. In the game there were tensions building up, emotions pouring out, excitement from winning, and aggravation from losing. What excited me the most was when Justin Tuck made a huge hit on Tom Brady. He made him lose his breathe and fumble the ball for a touchdown. The Giants won the game. I was so amazed at how the game was played. From that point on I knew that I wanted to play football.

After the game was over I asked my uncle if he could teach me how to play football. He took out the football, brought me downstairs and said “catch.” We practiced every weekend in the park for at least two hours. We did this for at least four years straight. The reason he made me practice every weekend was because I had difficulties in learning how to hit the right way and also run without fumbling the ball. I used to run the ball, get hit, and fumble quickly. So my uncle made me do drills. Some days we would do running, catching, cuts, and other drills. In the beginning I was rusty, but over time I progressed. I progressed in my running, hitting, and catching drills. My uncle made me keep practicing even if I was tired because he has always believed you should not give up on yourself. We ran drills over and over again until I got it right. I felt so tired and exhausted, but at the end it paid off. It paid off because I got better than I was. I was putting the effort each day so I could improve on what I needed to improve on. Every day was hard work and dedication for the sport I truly fell in love with it. I worked hard every day to make sure my movements improved. While in high school I put my all into practice and during games. The drills that my uncle taught me I brought it to my high school, then college ball. During college I started all the games I played because of the hard work I put in and out the field.
